General :: Bootanimation - Change Only PNG
Oct 30, 2012I have a mini smartpc rooted. I want change boot animation. I know that it need place bootanimation.zip in /data/local(.
I get a bootanimation from another rom, a rom for asus transform... When I put asus bootanimation.zip in /data/local works but when i change only png inside bootanimation.zip and place my file zip don't works.

General :: Bootanimation Does Not Work / Show
Apr 22, 2014I have a problem with a clone (HDC model). That I did a factory reset and reformatted the storage. After that I suddenly don't have my bootanimation anymore. Instead it shows a silver grey "android" logo in the middle of the screen when I boot the phone, and the same when I shut it off.
I have checked my system/media folder and the phone actually have all the bootanimation.zip shutdownanimation.zip etc. in there, and they are also the original ones. But for some reason the phone don't use them by boot or shutdown.
Also I tried with "Boot Animations -root-" app from the Playstore, but it also don't change anything. I tried to place bootanimation.zip in data/local also but no change.
I checked the permissions of the files and they are also good. And tried all kind of codes on the phone, but none have worked so far.

Aug 5, 2012I wanted to make my own bootanimation for the Galaxy Nexus.So i pulled a bootanimation out of the ROM i am currently using and replaced the png with my own ones (same size).

Jun 11, 2013Its hard to change the bootanimation and shutdown animation on Samsung devices because samsung uses a .qmg file that cant be edited without using the software for it, which is out there and I'll put up a link. Its very hard to do apparently and I not adept enough to mess with it. There's also other ways to enable custom animations by flashing special zip files created by smokin1337 and clarified by ReelFiles and using something like rom toolbox to add custom ones to your system/media folder. I was actually looking to see if could got in your system/media and audio folders and post the original .qmg bootanimation and samsungloop files. I have a verizon butI flashes my galaxy s3 over to metro pcs with everything working just fine so i would like to change my animation with the stock R530 variant. I am looking for all types from the international to us cellular to metropcs and to straight talk and sprint.

General :: Custom Bootanimation Don't Work - Black Screen
Aug 9, 2010I wanted to create a simple bootanimation for my HTC Desire. I found a couple of websites explaining pretty much everything from folder structure to the contents of desc.txt, so I started playing around a little bit.
However after pushing my first customized bootanimation to the phone, all I get is a black screen after the initial HTC logo.
I already tried using desc.txt files from different bootanimations that I found on the web. I even extracted and re-zipped a downloaded bootanimation so I could see if that could possibly be the problem. But none could solve my black screen.
At least I think I have narrowed down the problem to the png files I use. My last guess is, that I save those files using the wrong settings.
I use Photoshop CS 5 using the following workflow:
First I create the frames that I want in my animation (just like build a GIF file). The I opened File-->Export-->Render Video. Then I select "Image Sequence", choose PNG, disable interlacing in the settings and finally choose a 480x800 resolution. Alpha channel is set to "None".
After that I use IrfanView to change the image color depth to 24bit and save the files in the part0 folder. None of my files is bigger than 30 KB.
My folder structure looks like this:

-----00001.png
-----00002.png
....
-----00027.png
My desc.txt looks like this:
480 800 30
p 0 0 part0
After zipping the folders and the desc.txt without compression, I push the files to my phone. But when I try to watch it, all I get is a black screen.
I attached my bootanimation.zip. When I download bootanimations from the web, it works just fine.

Motorola Droid :: How To Convert Animated Gifs To Png For Wallpaper / Bootanimation?
May 9, 2010I have several animated gif's I had converted over to png's with Fireworks 8 but when I place the frames in the folders part0 & part1 then use the developer SDK software and upload the bootanimation.zip files they will not work. I have other bootanimation.zip that work but I can't figure out what the difference is.

LG Ally :: Ally Stuck In Loop At VELOCITY Screen
Oct 17, 2010My LG Ally is stuck at the "VELOCITY" boot screen and is stuck in a loop. I had Velocity 0.3 flashed yesterday and I decided to re-flash today. I have tried wiping data/files/cache/dalvik cache. I'm stuck and I don't know what to do. Also I never did a Nandroid backup (because I'm slow).

Nov 23, 2010I figured out how to full flash the LG Ally 740 to cricket but 3 out of every 5 phones I flash do not save the NV settings. When I go to manual programming (##program740 send) then select DATA. The MIP & DUN MIP settings always revert back to the default 0000000000@vzw3g.com settings. I've changed them in LGNPST,CDMA Workshop & QPST but still reverts back to VZW. It's rooted and tried several different ROM's to fix the problem. Could it be the kernel? If anyone can help, please let me know.

Oct 6, 2010Before applying the Turbo4 ROM, I ran Linpack to get a base number so I can compare it with the number I get after I apply Turbo4. I got a 4.188. The phone is rooted with many of the stock apps removed running the Zeam Launcher, but no other custom ROMS.
Is that a pretty good number to start with? It was higher than I was expecting because most linpack scores i've read about are in the 3's.

May 15, 2010Personally I love being rooted and having all the options that being rooted gives me, however I have not found a single theme that I actually like more than stock Android. I mean, some of them have cool elements, JRummy's green themed ROM is ok, as is Fab's NexBeast, they have some really cool parts to the themes, but some of the icons or other things are just God-awful in every theme I have tried. I liked Pete's Smoked Glass theme he had to apply over his BB builds, but the notification drop down had some problems, you couldn't always read the notification text making it basically useless. Overall I am just asking, am I the only one who highly prefers the Android stock theme?

All these are for 2.2, there is no reason you shouldnt be on 2.2

As always do a back up
If on 2.2 and have boot strapper installed to use this update .zip, throw it on sd card, open droid x bootstraper reboot to recovery, apply update.zip, reboot done!
........ without bootstrapper method...........if you want just the apk for a different color just extract it from the update.zip file use root explorer or other app to make a copy of your original app ( its in system/app)
First you must remove swype.apk from system/app any way of your choosing, terminal or adb, then reboot.
Follow the following directions
Put the .apk on your sdcard, navigate to it with astro or your fav file browser, open the apk and choose install. If it still says only gives you the option to uninstall, you didnt uninstall correctly. if you can get it to show up after install go into settings and keyboard and make sure swype is checked
DONE

restore your back up.
If you were careless enough to not do a back up and your on 2.2 get a clean download here.. MY droid world 2.2 follow those instructions. then download file again, your last one might of been bad. When in recovery go to mounts and mount system, then install the zip

IMO, it looks better if you go into Handcent, options, bubble settings, and scroll all the way to the bottom and uncheck start lines of editor box so that it will only be 1 line rather than 2 to start out with. (That's also how it is in the screenshot).
By the way, you must uninstall Handcent and any font packs before installing this modded version. Props to sneaky_zekey over at alldroid.com for helping me figure all this out.
HTC Droid Eris :: ChompSMS Themed
Apr 20, 2010I have slightly themed ChompSMS. Got this "cracked" version from another website, which removed ads. Then I themed it up a little. Unfortunately it is version 3.6, which isn't the latest build, but works pretty flawlessly for me.
Updates:
-No ads!
-Changed ChompSMS icon to stock Android (green smiley) icon.
-Changed message unread bar to green instead of blue.
-Changed highlight color from blue, to the yellow-orangeish stock Android selection color. (Look at screenshots)
-Changed the green notification icon to the stock green smiley icon (you have to change this in notification settings, it isn't defaulted).

Nov 18, 2013I recently downloaded the playstation app. I decompiled, changed the background images to my liking and recompiled. Everything was fine as far as decompiling and recompiling. At first the app wouldn't install. So I went back and during the recompilation process I selected the option to retain original application signature. Now the apk installs, but the application will not open.
