How To Send AT Commands Based On BT Hands Free Profile In Android
May 20, 2013
I am trying to establish Bluetooth connection between an Android device with other mobile phone over Handsfree profile. I am using following code -
Code:
private static final UUID MY_UUID = UUID.fromString("0000111F-0000-1000-8000-00805F9B34FB"); // UUID for Hands free profile
// Some code...
// Get Bluetooth Adapter.
m_oBluetoothAdapter = BluetoothAdapter.getDefaultAdapter();
[Code]...
I can create RFCOMMSocket using above code.
Now I want to send AT commands based on Bluetooth Hands-Free profile. e.g. If other mobile phone receives a phone call, my Android device can reject this call by sending AT command- "+CHUP". I am not sure whether this is possible or not.
At this point, I am stuck. I have read Bluetooth APIs where I found -
Code:
BluetoothHeadset.ACTION_VENDOR_SPECIFIC_HEADSET_EVENT
Can we use this Intent for sending AT commands? Is this a proper way to send AT command based on Bluetooth Hands-Free profile?

Found new app on the news this morning. So much fun! Totally hands free. Just search Google for AdelaVoice. Works good with chompSMS. Be sure to read the command page. Will even send voice text, but I haven't tried that yet. Still in beta but will be the bomb when it is finished!

I just published a Hands-Free texting app called Shout. Just say a phrase like "Text Doug With I am On My Way Home" and Shout will search your contacts for matches, confirm "Sending 'I am on my way home' to 'Doug Hansknecht', correct?". Simply tap the Big Green Yes button and you're done.
There's a video demo here:

Will you be able to use a Bluetooth earpiece to do hands free dialing? I know this is a problem with the Incredible and the Moto Droid.

I went through all the settings and could not find a way to configure the phone to speak the SMS, the caller id, etc....when I am driving.
On my other phone, a samsung galaxy s3 from verizon with android 4.3, there is a "driving mode". I thought it was a true android capability, but could it be a samsung feature instead ?In any case how do I get the Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 to do the same ? can I get it to do it using an NFC tag...

Just got an N1 AT&T unlocked. Paired it with a Nissan 350Z bluetooth hand free. It pairs and the light on the car says it's connected. The N1 BT icon says is connected as well. When a call comes in, the car and the phone will both ring. When I pick up the call, either on the phone or the car, the system will switch to "phone" but the call always goes to the phone. I have only been able to actually use the car's handsfree once. Is anyone else having issues with their BT hands free in their cars. The other phones I had worked perfectly.

Is anyone having problems connecting their phone to a hands free kit? I get intermittent drop outs etc.
I connected with my phone to the hands free and it didn't even ask me for a passcode as it does with others.
So................the problem is that it sometimes connects and will then drop and will have to restart both devices.

I remember one of the sticking points last year for me, was the inherent problem in Android of Bluetooth support for Bluetooth Voice Dialling for true "hands free". Not to mention Bluetooth file transfer. I understand Android may still have a problem with Bluetooth voice dialing, or is this just problems with, I think it is, "Droid"?

I am looking for a bluetooth hands free car kit that can send stereo signal to car radio utilizing a wire to the aux input on the radio. I have a Motorola T-505 that does this with an FM signal, however I cannot get a clean FM frequency.

I found this dock that is almost what I'm looking for, but I don't like FM transmitters. I prefer just to use a cable for the sound since it's clearer and I don't have to keep fiddling with stations when I get feedback. All the other docks that I've found are window mounted suction cup deals. Does anyone know of a dock that plugs into the cigarette lighter, but doesn't have the FM transmitter?

I have been having an annoying problem whereby my phone takes somewhere between 2 and 10 or so minutes to connect to my car's hands free kit. The handsfree is a factory fit bluetooth unit in an Audi. I've had the car over 2 years and with my previous phones (SE W810i, K750i and C905) the connection was always made within 15 seconds of turning the ignition on. With the Desire it takes so long sometimes that I can have reached my destination before it connects!

So I bought and Apple handsfree set (stereo headphones and mic) for the Droid. I can't seem to hang up on a call by clicking the mic. I can accept calls by clicking on the mic, but clicking on the mic while in a call seems to just mute the phone.That's a useful feature, but does anyone know how to hang up on a call using the Apple handsfree set on the Droid?

I havent been able to try this yet and i was just wondering if anyone else has. If you have the phone connected to a handsfree bluetooth system in a car and are also using the phone to play music via an aux input through the headphone jack will they both work? I am just wondering if the bluetooth connectivity will override the fact that you have something plugged into the headphone jack. I will be able to try this in a couple weeks when i get my car back, but wasjust curious if anyone else already has tried it.

I have a Blaupunkt Melbourn car stereo with the Blaupunkt USB/Bluetooth Interface installed in my car and it used to work just fine with my Sprint Mogul and Touch Pro, but I can't seem to make it work with my Hero. When I pair the two, the radio only recognizes the Hero as an audio source and not as a phone. In other words, I assume I can stream music from the phone to the radio but I can't answer the phone with it. I should add that the connection icon shows up as audio headphones instead of a phone handset in the Bluetooth Devices screen.And this is just the opposite of what I need. I could care less whether I can stream music, but I need to be able to use the car radio as a hands-free device and as I wrote in the last paragraph, the radio worked perfectly in that capacity with my last two phones.So does anyone have any idea whether this is a phone problem or a stereo problem? Does anyone have any idea if there's a work-around? For that matter, does anyone have any helpful information at all?

I'm very happy with how my Hero is set up at the moment, but there are a couple of apps which would make my life a lot easier, and conserve my precious battery!
Location based profiles using wirless location (and not GPS) I'd love to be able to arrive at work (or within 1500 meters of work) and my phone recognise this and switches on wifi, turn itself to silent, or choose a more suitable ringtone. I know that there are a few apps out there that use GPS to trigger, but this really kills my battery. I also know that wireless location isn't that accurate, but I'd only need ball park triggers anyway.
Time based app to kill certain features/apply airplane mode I've got Silent Time Pro, which switches my phone to silent at my bed time, but in an effort to conserve battery, is there an app which can also turn off wifi, GPS, auto updates and/or switch to airplane mode at specific times?
Does anyone have any recommendations for these, or do they not exist yet? Is it just me, or would these be quite handy apps?
If they don't exist, does anyone have a recommendation for me to set these profiles up manually, and maybe trigger them by means of a shortcut/widget? Obviously auto activation would be better, but I'm really trying to cut down on recharges, as it seems that my phones forever flashing orange at me!

I am trying to use a USB GPRS (SIM5218A) modem in eclair, I am wondering how to send the AT commands to the modem. I saw some old emails here in the list showing how to use pppd with chat (exec /system/usr/bin/chat -v); Unfortunately I am unable to find chat in eclair. Is there a better way to perform this?

My rooted device is shared. I already set-up multi-user profiles for each of us:
1-Family mode
2-My mode
How is possible to switch profile based on lockscreen pattern?? example: "pattern1" triggers My mode while entering "pattern2" triggers Family mode.
So I will have certain apps automatically blocked when in family mode (hides some applications, sms, calls, and/or maybe starts a blacklist?) But unlocked in My mode
Is there a way to do this? or is there an app/hack that can closely do some of it?I don't need exactly the multiuser feature. but at least a way to start an app or two (maybe a blacklist, lock gallery/other app) with the pattern2 of the lockscreen.

To make development easier, I want to be able to send textual commands to my android app(especially prior to having prior the UI completely fleshed out).Presumably in the emulator, but it would be great if it also worked on a device connected via USB.Of course, I could add an editText control to my app and type the commands in there, but would prefer not have deal with debug things cluttering up the UI and all the complications of that.I also would like to be able to paste text from computer clipboard, which sorta rules out EditText controls.Is there any way to do this, say via any of the android-sdk/tools/ stuff? I would implement the command processor java class/method, but need some way to be able to actually feed it a string. I suppose I could do something that talks to the emulator via the file system or something, but would prefer not have to spend a lot of time doing this if there is something already available.

I have ConnectBot and right now I'm manually typing commands which I would like to run on my desktop machine remotely. I'd like to create an Android application with a user interface where I can just tap a button and had it run an associated command. I'm assuming I would need to continue doing this via SSH so is there a SSH library for Android which I can use to connect to my desktop?

Found a few threads about people having problems transferring their phonebook to their hands free kit in their automobile. Had the same problem myself - was able to connect and pair with the car kit. I was able to make and receive calls, but didn't have the phonebook.
Then yesterday, while setting in the car, I was going to re-pair the connection between the phone and car I noticed that in the Notification Bar that the car was asking permission to receive the phonebook from the phone. Opened the Notification and granted permission and clicked on always grant access (or something similar). Phonebook was then transfered. Haven't had a problem with it since...

I got my desire last week and everything was good until last night when i changed my googlemail address to gmail. I looked across the forum and found that the best thing to do was reset the phone. I did this and all was perfect once more until I went to go to college and was listening to music but couldn't change tracks or pause using the hands-free kit. I have no idea how to get it working again and don't know if the reset had anything to do with it stopping working. All I know is it worked perfectly the other day.

For those of you trying to squeeze as much time out of the battery as possible, I came across this nifty program which I don't think has been mentioned yet: AppBrain: Y5 - Battery Saver - Android app on AppBrain Official: Y5 Battery Saver: Home. When you connect to a Wi-Fi network, it uses the GSM base tower identifier (CellID) to determine the location of the Wi-Fi network and stores it in memory. It does not use the GPS. I saved my home network earlier this afternoon and went out, Wi-Fi was turned off while I was out, then after I came home and started using my phone, I was connected again, so it seems to be working so far.

I am looking for an app that would automatically send a text message based on a GPS location. The reason for this app is because I am a vanpool driver and it would be great if I could notify my riders when I am getting close to their house so that they are waiting for me when I pull up. Much better than having to honk my horn and then wait!
