Aug 4, 2010
I have just got an HTC Wildfire, but unfortunately I am having problems connection it to my home WiFi network. I am connection to a EDIMAX BR6574n Router and I have the following configured:
SSID Visible
WPA2 AES Passphrase Encryption
Wireless Access control (limits devices by MAC address) have disabled until I can get connected
I have even reset my passprase incase I have forogt it (unlikely). The problem I get is when I try to connect I see the WiFi in the corner of the screen briefly with full bars, but it has a ! next to it and then it disconnects.

I was wondering does anyone know if its possible to open a wifi and a 3g connection at the same time on Android? Is there any way to control access to both Wifi and 3g/GPRS data connections and use them at the same time?

I used to have two Google accounts, one private and one for work. Unfortunately, I have been fired a month ago and I have no more access to the latter. I believe it is still active but they changed the password and I just can't login.
The problem is that all the apps registered in my Google Play under this account are not available for uninstall or update. Each time I try, I get the message "Authentication is required. You need to sign into your Google Account."
The apps work well on the Android phone but I can't manage them. Moreover, I can't reinstall apps that I uninstalled using the disabled account. All the apps that have been installed with my private account are managed just fine.
I am using a Samsung S2 (GT-I9100) with Android 2.3.3. Google Play Store v 3.7.15.
how I can get the control back on those apps?

An update came through the other day on my debranded Orange Desire. Anyway it has killed the Wifi. I've seen a thread on here about an RUU update?? That fixed it, but no explanation as to what this is or how it was done.

This seems like a common issue developers have yet I couldn't find anything on it (searched through the archives in this mailing list and Google searches). Maybe I just fail at research, but anyway.. My app requires a network connection. If it is disabled I'd like to notify users that it is required and then possibly open the network settings box so they can enable it.

I think I've read on the thread about the Froyo 2.2 release, that a rom has been leaked that will work with Sense on the Desire? Has anyone got any links/guides to getting this to work?
Secondly, I've currently got my phone debranded but this has led to my wifi being disabled since the last firmware update, I know I'll have to root my phone to install the 2.2 rom but will this then mean I will have to input the network code as that's what I was told would need to happen if I was to reflash my phone with the unbranded rom again.

I think this problem arose after I purchased 'Extended Controls'. I turn off wifi (doesn't matter if I use extended controls or not) and the APN Control turns itself on, really quite annoying! Is there any way to fix this? Edit - Forgot to mention, this seems to be intermittent as well :/....

I used to keep my SSID broadcast at home disable, and four computers have never had a problem using the network. Only my Incredible doesn't seem to be able to reconnect to a remembered network not broadcasting its SSID. In fact, if I turn off the SSID while the Incredible is connected, it instantly drops the WIFI connection. Anyone have luck having the Incredible use a network without the SSID being broadcast constantly? I'm using WPA2 if that makes a difference.

So I updated to 4.3 no problem and a little while later a got some type of a 26 Mb patch. I downloaded it and installed it and since then my wifi will no switch on. I am extremely frustrated with this and I really want to fix this. I would greatly prefer not doing a factory reset if possible.

1 week in to my wildfire and I'm struggling with sync. Somehow I've managed to sync with my outlook (on XP) but this is done whilst the HTC synch software (3.0.5387) shows no connection to any phone when plugged in. Also when syncing it chews memory on the laptop.Gmail on phone seems to have now been disabled (despite having my gmail contacts and outlook contacts synced via laptop)

Just wanted to relay my issues that occurred with Startup Auditor. I use a Moto Droid 2.0.1.
First issue: I disabled Google Talk Startup as non of my friends have an Android device. This caused an issue with the Market. none of my apps would download the updates and I could not Download new apps. The Market is somehow connected to Google Talk. After enabling Talk and logging back in my apps started downloading.
Second issue: I disabled the stock messaging app because I am using Handcent SMS. This caused my text messages to delete themselves. When I opened my messaging treads all that was shown was my side of the conversation. After re enabling the stock Messaging app my messages started downloading and showing up in the treads. Handcent must use some of the same things that the stock app uses and Startup Editor was killing.

I've only had my HTC Wildfire a few days but it seems like the phone I've been wishing for. One question though - I'd like to put stuff on the SD card over WiFi - rather than plugging in the lead. Is this possible? I know it can be done as Tune Sync does it - but this maybe an exception. It's on the same network as the Wildfire can get out I just want to be able to see it from my Windows 7 PC.

When you are running the 3G mobile hotspot you have the ability to manage users, like an ACL (access control list). This option is grayed out and isn't configurable. There is a update file leaked before Froyo for the DINC which made 3G mobile hotspot available. It also gave permission to 'allow users only'. Does anyone know how to change the current behavior and make the option available?

So how do I access the command line in Windows 7 using Eclipse?

I made a remote starter, keyless entry, and window roll down module out of a Linksys router. It serves up a webpage that I access from my Android through WIFI connected directly to the router. I just have to be within WIFI range to operate it. It works flawlessly. No actual internet involved.
Here is what I would like to do: Create an app that accesses each webpage to control it. I am thinking webview, but I don't ever want to see the actual web page. The app just needs to open the page in the background to make the control work. The current hassle is that I have to go to my WIFI settings and select the router. Use the control and then set my WIFI back to the original connection. Is there a way to have the phone automatically connect to the router associated with this app upon app initialization and then have it return the WIFI setting to the previous state after the app is closed?

All I really want to do is root my phone to allow free wifi tethering so I don't have to pay sprint another $30 a month, be able to control my CPU so I can try to help my battery a bit.... and whatever else I can do to help the battery.
What is my best choice for rooting to get what I want? And also, do I need to install a ROM to get this.
I know I need a wireless tether app for rooted phones, the setcpu app for my cpu control.
