HTC Tattoo :: Recover Contents Of Formatted SD Card?
Aug 15, 2010
Look, one of the first things I have made with my new HTC Tattoo has been formatting the SD card. As soon as I realized what I had done, I turned off the phone, extracted the card, and using testdisk, I recovered its contents. They were:
Some example background images.
Some example music, with cover images
A pdf file, the instruction manual of the machine.
An executable, the sync program.
A large lot of .txt and .f files. Some of them contain image orientation data. The rest contain code. For example:

I formatted the internal SD card through CWM and now the card cannot be recognized by Win7 and it's stated as a linux file-CD Gadget USB Device, and the drives are greyed out. How do I revert the SD Card back to FAT32 format?
I'm also unable to mount it as USB storage in CWM recovery giving an error of cannot write to lumfile (no such file and directory). However, I'm able to still format the sdcard in cwm but it does not solve the problem.

My Desire has suddenly stopped recognizing my 4GB SD Card today. Just says it's blank and needs formatting! When I try to access the card via my PC it just wants to format it but when I bring up the format window the PC only sees 30MB and a format of FAT. The Properties show it formatted as RAW. The Error Notification I get is: Blank SD Card - SD Card blank or has unsupported file system. Is my card fried or is there a way out of this?

I've been having a huge amount of issues with my Hero since going to the 2.2 upgrade. In the middle of all of these issues I formatted my SD card before making a back up. I'm looking for someone who can give me the generic SD Card files from the Sprint HTC Hero, mainly the HTC Sync files that were on the card.

If I insert an external sd card formatted in ext2 or ext3, will it be treated as a normal sd card (FAT32)? The device is Samsung Galaxy S (Korean) running Android 2.1 I need the answer before I get the device tomorrow, because by the time I get the device, I will not have any option to change anything in the card.

Ok so I wiped and formatted my SD Card to FAT32. I am in the reboot/recovery screen of my android with ClockworkMod and I noticed when I turned on USB Mass Storage, the SD Card is readable but there is nothing on it now. Is there any important files I am going to need to put on the SD Card for my android to function correctly on start up/running? Or will my android automatically put the correct files on the SD Card on boot? Haven't tried booting it .

I am receiving the battery and SD card to go along with the HTC Droid Incredible 2 I got today. He said to hook up my phone to the computer (not sure which setting to choose, PC Mode, etc) and then copy the SD card stuff to the computer. Then I'm supposed to transfer that to the new 16gb card I'm getting.

hey folks. I started out with a nice nippy class6 8GB card thinking speed was better than space and using Spotify for tunes I'd not have many mp3 locally. Now I need more space and want to switch to a 16GB card.My question: can I just copy everything off of my 8GB onto my new 16GB when it arrives? be great not having to download 5GB of Spotify cache all over again.

Anybody else notice that the SD cards are write protected? If I take out my card and put it in a card reader on my laptop, I can add stuff to the card, but I can't delete anything. If I put it back in the phone and mount the sd card, I can edit the card how I want. weird?

Is there a way to check the contents of the SD card in the Incredible without connecting to a computer? All I can find is how big the SD card is and how much room is left on the card. But like I said, I cant find a way to see what files are on it.

We have ported android to our hardware. I am facing some issues related to sdcard. Here is the test scenario and issues:
First issue :
1. On hardware, insert the card and copy a file to sdcard using dd command.
2. Remove the card from hardware.
3. Do ls /sdcard. It shows the file present in sdcard. It seems unmount of sdcard device is not happening.
Second issue:
1. Copy a file to sdcard using dd command.
2. Remove the sdcard and check the content of the sdcard from PC. File is not visible.
3. Copy file to sdcard again and then check the content of sdcard from PC. File size is zero bytes.
4. Restart the hardware and copy the file again. File is visible when checked from PC.
Third issue:
1. The content of copied file are not matching with the original source file.

I recently went about updating my tablet, and in the back of my mind I was under the impression that TWRP would backup the internal sdcard's files during the normal backup, so I thought nothing of wiping the internal sdcard. Whoops. It, of course, didn't, and now I find myself with a whole slew of stuff gone. Not much else was written to the internal sdcard (which is on an ext4 filesystem), so I suspect that a good bit of my stuff can still be sitting there in the data graveyard.
Since I'm on Linux and can't mount the sdcard directly (since for some odd reason Linux has issues with MTP), all I've been able to do was this:
I booted the tablet into recovery mode and opened up adb, and ran the following command through the adb shell:
Code:
~ # dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p8 of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p1
Where mmcblk0p8 is the internal sdcard with the lost data, and mmcblk1p1 is an external sdcard. I thought that by running that command, I could create a carbon copy of each and every little thing on the old sdcard, write it onto something my computer could read, and then go through the normal recovery process. In this case I planned to use a Linux tool called "extundelete."
Here's where I get stuck. The sdcard appeared to have cloned correctly, given that the entire thing is now filled up and reads as an ext4 filesystem on gparted (when it was previously fat32), but now I can't mount it. And if I can't mount it, I can't restore anything. Here's what I get when I try to mount it:
Code:
Error mounting /dev/sdb at /media/user/57f8f4bc-abf4-655f-bf67-946fc0f9f25b: Command-line `mount -t "ext4" -o "uhelper=udisks2,nodev,nosuid" "/dev/sdb" "/media/user/57f8f4bc-abf4-655f-bf67-946fc0f9f25b"' exited with non-zero exit status 32: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so
So to sum it up, I accidentally wiped my tablet's internal sdcard using TWRP 2.3.3.0, and now I want to recover what was lost during the wipe. Not that it matters, my tablet is a Transformer Infinity.

I have a class that extends View. I override the onDraw method and allow the user to draw on the screen. I am at the point where I want to save this view as an image. I Can use buildDrawingCache and getDrawingCache to create a bitmap that I can write to the SD card. However, the image is not good quality at a large size, it has jagged edges. Since I have a View and I use Paths I can transform all by drawing to a bigger size. I just don't know how to make the Canvas bigger so when I call getDrawingCache it doesn't crop all the paths I am just transformed. What is happening is I transform all my paths but when I write the Bitmap to file I am only getting the "viewport" of the actual screen size. I want something much bigger.

I have a SAMSUNG Galaxy SII, and a Sandisc 16 GB HD micro SD card, 3 days ago I noticed a notification that says:"SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem"
I tried several times to take it off and put it back but with no luck, I put the card in the card reader & connected it to my laptop, the laptop (windows 7) did't recognized it either, and it suggested to do FORMAT to the card, So I did, and choose to format to FAT32 system..I was sure that recovery programs will recover my photos and videos...
I tried 4 programs to recover them, no single photo was recovered, it just looks like a brand new Sd card now...the card now is working normally now...

my newly bought Tattoo became unbootable a few days ago.It worked perfectly fine two days ago, then it started to randomly reboot itself, but after that, it became completely unbootable, as in, it was stuck at the "TATTOO" screen. The phone internals are completely untouched, no custom images, not rooted, no nothing, it's factory fresh. The battery is full too, and I didn't install anything that could possibly have corrupted the bootloader (or whatever is failing to load).I already tried to wipe the user data _TWICE_ (using HOME + BACK + POWER) with no success. I'm also perfectly able to get into HBOOT (using VOLDOWN + MENU + POWER), and connect via usb (using "FASTBOOT USB" from HBOOT). However, I can't completely wipe the cache with fastboot.exe from the android-sdk, since it doesn't allow it: "erasing 'cache'... FAILED (remote: not allow)".
