I recently bought a htc tattoo for my girlfriend, and the person who originally had the phone had already set up google mail, android market etc. Is there a way i can change this and set up a new account for my girlfriend? Was wondering whether a factory reset would erase all his account details and allow me to access googlr mail, cos at the moment its just showing his google address and i cant do anything with it?

I'm new to Android, so this may be silly questions for the seasoned user, but anyway: I'm now using K-9mail for all my e-mail accounts including G mail. I would like to remove my G mail account from the actual G mail app since I am not using it. How do I do that? Also, if I un install the G mail appl itself, how can I get it installed again if I should want to?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 2 gmail accounts. Unfortunately, one of them is for my calendar and contacts and the other is for my personal e-mail. As of now, my cal and contacts are syncing fine but I do not use the e-mail account that is associated with thier username. I have my other account (personal e-mail) set up sepeartely....along with a few other e-mail accounts(work and etc.). I would like to know if i can leave my cal and contacts setup on the regular droid sync account but change the e-mail account to my personal acct. so it will "push" by default with out having it in a seperate palce on the droid. I know this is confusing but i dont know how else to explian it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a tattoo this week and have had a few problems, and thought I would post what I have seen so that other tattoo users can either add to the list, or respond with solutions or workarounds they have found.
1) many apps from previous android phones are not available (presumably this is because they are "incompatible with the smaller screen resolution, but I suspect that many of them are just incorrectly tagged for 1.5 sdk or earlier, but would likely still work with donut-1.6) but could easily be made available with a tiny bit of tweaking.
2) the HTC Mail widget can't be removed (or moved) from the second screen to the left on the Sense interface. Why even bother with this one over the gmail?)
3) speaking of Gmail - somehow it only accesses the messages which are actually to my gmail address, and not to other addresses which are forwarded to my gmail (and are always in my gmail inbox) do I need to install google gears to get this working (which is not, as I found out quickly "gears for android" as listed in the marketplace) as it does on my laptop?
4) All of this is would be easily solved if someone has just figured out to root this thing... I started along the hero donut instructions I had seen at unlockr, pressing the down volume rocker while turning it on.
Not got the phone yet.. but it looks good.. as an Apple fan i love the Iphone but im not willing to change carrier or pay what they want.. so i think the hero is my best option.. What is important to me is my email.. I want to be able to sync my yahoo account with yahoo mail and the mail on the phone so if i send an email on my phone it will appear in the sent folder on my yahoo mail on the computer and vice versa if you follow... With Android being google will i be able to do this from the phones email client like the iphone does...

I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? Anyone tried both apps for any length of time and have strong opinions over which app is better? I saw a review that said the HTC app is better but the Google one doesn't seem too bad to me... Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... View 3 Replies View Relatedmy newly bought Tattoo became unbootable a few days ago.It worked perfectly fine two days ago, then it started to randomly reboot itself, but after that, it became completely unbootable, as in, it was stuck at the "TATTOO" screen. The phone internals are completely untouched, no custom images, not rooted, no nothing, it's factory fresh.The battery is full too, and I didn't install anything that could possibly have corrupted the bootloader (or whatever is failing to load).I already tried to wipe the user data _TWICE_ (using HOME + BACK + POWER) with no success. I'm also perfectly able to get into HBOOT (using VOLDOWN + MENU + POWER), and connect via usb (using "FASTBOOT USB" from HBOOT). However, I can't completely wipe the cache with fastboot.exe from the android-sdk, since it doesn't allow it: "erasing 'cache'... FAILED (remote: not allow)".
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have two gmail accounts, each with their own Google Voice account. Account 1 is my primary account, and I have even ported my phone number to this account. I'm using this account on my phone (nexus 5), and have 0 issues with this account. All texts, voicemails, etc come through with no issues. Account 2 is largely not used. I would like to use account 2 on my nexus 7, for texts, and maybe making calls if I don't want to give out my real number to someone.
My issue is when I'm logged in to account 2 on my nexus 7, I'm getting text notifications for account 1 on my nexus 7. But if I were to open Google Voice on the nexus 7, once GV refreshes, the texts disappear. It doesn't happen the other way around. If I get a text/vm to account 2, it does not notify my phone, which is logged in to account 1.
I've checked the settings in both GV accounts, and neither account is linked to the other, or to send copies of texts/vm notifications to the other. How do I stop notifications from GV account 1 to stop displaying on account 2? I have cleared cache, data, uninstalled the app. The only thing i have not done, is a reset of the nexus 7.
I was initially logged in to account 1 on my nexus 7, but I would have thought removing the app from the device would have essentially erased all traces of the account 1 on the nexus 7. I even signed out of hangouts, to make sure Google was not treating this like my phone, and sending it both places.
Is it possible to use a google account for features such as google contacts and latitude? I know this is not possible for Android market, but would it be possible for other google products? I saw it is possible on this Android 2.0 review: Android 2.0 Review: Almost Human Did they remove this feature from the 2.1 that Hero uses, or can't I just find it?

I've tried this method linked below, but It didn't seem to work for me. I would install K-9 Mail, then import the exported files. I also tried Installing it, setting up one account, and then importing the files. Both cases, it doesn't seem to import any accounts. Issue 549 - k9mail - Enhancement: Ability to export/import account settings. - Project Hosting on Google Code. I have both Titanium Backup (Paid) and MyBackupPro, and I can't seem to figure out how to backup the account settings in those either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've searched quite a bit and haven't been able to find anyone else with this problem.I've been using the built-in Mail app on my Hero for the last month with my Yahoo e-mail account (it's a Plus account, using the POP settings provided by Yahoo)...with zero issues. Yesterday, I noticed that I wasn't receiving new messages anymore. I've got the program set to update every hour, and even when manually clicking refresh, the phone would not download any new e-mail messages from my account (and wouldn't send either). There were no error messages though, it appeared to be synced up (the time would show up next to the sync symbol in the top left corner of the app.I knew my settings were correct, so I figured I would just try to delete the account and set it up again. I selected "delete account" and after giving confirmation, the message on the screen said that it was deleting the account but it never finished. The program wouldn't do anything, figured I'd try to force it to close with my task killer but Mail didn't even show up as running. Next step...shut the phone down and powered it back on. Opened Mail up and the account was no longer showing, however there is still some memory of it somewhere as when I attempt to set it up again it tells me that there is already an account with that e-mail address.I can get around that by setting up a new account and changing one character in my address until all the settings are entered in (and then go back and change it), but I'd like to find out if I can address this problem head on (without a hard reset).

When I enter the Mail app however it says that the "account for this widget has been deleted. Would you like to switch to another account?" When I select Yes it just leads me back to my account Inbox - the same account it claims was deleted This account was created using the Manual IMAP option.
Earlier today when I just put my details in normally, without selecting Manual, it was working okay - although the sync was a problem. At least, however, it had a notification icon on the App when I got a new email. But strangely after I wait a few minutes going back to that account inbox, it does show my emails. What can I do to stop this?
