HTC Magic :: Does Screen Protector Help With Fingerprints?
May 29, 2009My HTC Magic appears to be a massive fingerprint magnet. On my iPod Touch I have a Zagg Invisible Shield which helps a lot at preventing fingerprints.I think there is an Invisible Sheild coming soon for the Magic, but I only really want to cover the screen.Is anyone using a screen protector at the moment and does it help with fingerprints?

HTC Magic :: Landscape Home Screen
Jun 29, 2009Sorry if this has been addressed, I haven't found anything yet.I've seen screen caps on the web (I'm sure) of the G1 with the home screen in landscape mode, but when I turn my Magic to landscape, the Home screen stays vertical.Is this a limitation of the Magic? Will the home screen not switch to Landscape (horizontal) when the phone is turned?

Jan 25, 2010I just upgraded to HTC Magic from Vodafone UK and I love it, but I seem to have a problem with the calendar app. When I load it I just get a blank (white) screen. The context menu button had no effect (apart from greying out for a few seconds) and I just have to exit the application. As I have always had Nokia before now I assumed that the app would still load a calendar and allow me to add appointments, to-do's, alarms etc.I have NOT tried to synch with Google as I use Outlook and was hoping to synch with that. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with the Calendar?

May 12, 2009I'm the proud owner of the HTC Magic on Vodafone UK. I'm loving the Android.I have to say that after 5 days of owning this device I'm only left scratching my head on one point the auto-orientation of the home screen.I've seen videos of rooted G1's running the hacked 1.5 firmware and the recently posted video of the Samsung i7500 with the 1.5 firmware all CLEARLY show that when the device is on home screen, the desktop (read home screen) auto-rotates depending on the orientation of the device. The Samsung video shows it working in ALL FOUR orientations!This doesn't happen on my Magic . Flip the orientation in an application? Works fine. Flip it back in an application? Works fine. Do it on the home screen?Am I missing something? Is this a feature that is disabled in the offical 1.5 Cupcake release? If that's the case - fine with me. I'll stop scratching my head and move on.

Nov 7, 2009the screen has stopped locking. When i press the end call button the phone sleeps but the screen doesnt lock. I do have the 'require pattern' etc selected in the settigs, so it should work. it used to work, can anyone tell me how to get it back? spare parts doesnt work. Also, When i press and hold the end call button, the only option that appears is 'power off'. It used to say flight mode and silent mode too. Finally it appears that my phone will not receive calls. texts and outgoings fine, but no calls any help really would help, and i would like to avoid doing a hard reset.

Jul 2, 2009I have been reading this thread for a few days now alongside the vodafone one.I have had my phone for almost 2 weeks now and think it is really great, although one or two things annoy me especially trying to get used to the keyboard.I was hoping someone would be kind enough to help me with a few issues please.
1. I am not very techy and dont really understand a lot of the jargon used but would like to know the difference between 3g and wi fi and how do I know what I am using.
2. How do yo know how much memory your phone has and if you can add any more. I am frightened that all the photos, applications, videos, contacts etc etc that I will use too much memory.
3. How do yo delete shortcts that you have placed on your extra home screen.
4. How does this gprs thing work is that like having a sat nav?
5. How do yo get your hotmail to be sent to your phone I cant seem to work it out without have to just go to google type in msn hotmail then sign in that way.

Oct 23, 2009How to activate a HTC Magic (Sapphire).
I have the unlock code and a Vodafone SIM card with internet activated. I put the sim card in phone, tun it on but it doesn't ask me for unlock code ! (maybe it's allready unlocked because on the screen appears Vodafone).
When I want to activate the APN settings should appears in the lower part of the screen but it is not. I tried other method of activation - from G1: to press menu buttton after second google user and pass input entered - for apn field appears. No succes this time too.
Any idee how to activate ?

HTC Magic : Putting Openhome Themes On An HTC MAGIC Rogers
Aug 18, 2009Sadly, the Android Market in Canada does not have any paid apps. I was just wondering is there any way I can put themes onto my phone? I find that it really sucks that I can't use any of the dxtop themes or openhome themes in the market unless I actually have the app itself (which I cannot purchase).

Dec 5, 2009new to this site as never had any problems with my magic till today, my 2 year old to my horror threw it against the wall and the battery etc fell out, Fortunatly when i examined it there was no damage screen wasnt cracked or damaged or anything, however since ive turned it back on theres safe mode in transparetn writing at the bottom left of the screen and the touch screen doesnt work and every time i go into a process such as say contacts , i get the 'the process android.process.acore has stopped please try again everything works like i say i can go online but obviously without the use of the touch screen i cant type, nor can i send texts due to the lack of touchscreen so what can i do HELP PLEASE Or do i have to face facts and get in touch with my insurance ?

Do you honestly like it better? I don't care if it doesn't blow the iPhone out of the water I just want somethin onpar with the iPhone. Just better will I be satisfied with the magic if I make the switch to android or should I wait for a G4 or something? I can't get the hero cause non currently or ever will support my art carrier. HTC Magic :: A Docking / Speaker Thingy For Magic?
Aug 19, 2009I was wondering if anybody docks their Magic (or similar) to one of those thing-a-ma-bobs that holds it between two speakers? They're generally made for iPods but hold other players as well.Because of the wee USB port, I have bought a little adaptor so now I've got 3.5mm jack, but I don't know how well that would dock.
I just want something cheap so I can set it on the kitchen counter whilst making dinner and washing up. I don't even necessarily need it to be at a good angle, so I could just buy a cheapie pair of stereo speakers, but thought something small and compact would be more convenient if I want to move things around to different rooms.I went ahead and bought something verrah verrah cheap off Amazon. I'm not looking for a Carnegie Hall experience, so cheap oughta do the trick. But, would still like to hear about your gadget if you want to talk about it.

Also what is the best case for the motorola droid? Lastly, when I make phone calls my screen goes black so it is hard for me to end calls. How can i fix this? Somehow I managed to scratch the screen protector and now I want to remove it however I'm having much difficulty removing it. Now I'm thinking if I should get a replacement screen protector as the Rogers version doesn't come with a spare one or just go without it. Anyone without the screen protector wanna add input about the durability of the mineral glass screen? I know that the screen on the iPod Touch 2G is very durable since I own one without having a protector on but I want to know if the X10s screen is just as durable.

Oct 21, 2010So I recently got a set of screen protectors and put one on.All was well just noticed a few bubbles and so I tried to work them out.They weren't going away, so I figured I would try again so I removed it and to my astonishment the bubbles were still there. It's like they formed under the screen somehow when I put the protector on, they were absolutely not there before.There are 2 in the center of the screen and a few along the edges. At first I just thought it was a water spot but I cannot wipe them off.The ones on the edge of the screen I can"push out" to the edge to almost make them disappear.When you touch them with the pads of your fingers you can feel a slight "bump" in the screen (very minute but still there).They bubbles are easily visible when the screen is off and almost go away when the screen is on but you can still tell they are there.Is this a defect in the phone or did I cause this trying to install the protector? I didn't push down hard on the screen, just applied the protector and they appeared.

Motorola Droid : Static Screen Protector Like That Covers Whole Screen?
Nov 24, 2009I'm currently using the phantom skinz line and although I like the body protectors I think the screen protector has reduced some of the screen's clarity/sharpness. This wasn't an issue with the static protectors I got from verizon. The only reason I replaced the verizon ones is because they didn't cover the buttons along the bottom of the screen. Anyone find a static protector they like that covers the whole screen?

Aug 17, 2009Anyway just recently got my best skins ever. If you don't know its a clear skin that goes over your phone to protect it from scratches. Anyway here is my review on it.Installation on this skin, like all skins, is fairly hard. Here are some great tips that really helped me move the proccess along.
1) Using an exacto-knife (or even better a model knife), cut the top piece near the earphone and the bezel piece into two. I guarantee you this will help GREATLY!
2) Do the same on the face buttons, and the bottom bezel. Here is an illustration
3) Palm technique: This is a well-know technique among people who use skins often. On skins, corners often don't stick down. So what do you is wait a couple of minutes, usually 5, then using the palm of your hand press down on the corner and hold it for 30 seconds. The corner usually goes down, if not wait a bit more for the solution to dry then try it again. It is extremely useful for area's that just won't stick down.
4)Another thing that helped me, was get a deck of cards and tape them together. Put your phone on the top and apply the skin then. This helps to make sure your skin doesn't skin to the table.
5) The last thing is never, ever apply your skin over a paper towel, since the dust from it can stick to your skin. And make sure no dust gets under the protector because it is a huge pain to perfectionists like me.
