View 35 RepliesI rooted my Droid incredible 2 days ago so bare with me as I am still trying to understand all this new terminology and get the fullest use out of my phone. I was wondering about Kernals, overclocking and underclocking. I would like to increase my battery life as we all know how crappy it can be under normal use. I am running Skyraider 3.3 now because I enjoy the stock look of the HTC sense and I am using ADW.launcher as well. I downloaded a kernal for Skyraider but I can't tell what the speeds are and change them up. I saw a program called setcpu for rooted users on the market. Anyone have any experience with this app and is it worth the money? I am not wanting to slow down the performance of my phone but I still want to be able to have a good battery life. Anyone have any suggestions for a kernal to use or anyone using setcpu have a suggestions for a good speed to use.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install Hydra Kernel overclocking rom #1 (Hydra Kernels - Overclocked Kernels) But I keep getting this error when installing. The error is as follows
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...

Installation aborted.
Currently running Frankenrom Senseless
Hydra Kernel Stock Undervolt
Radio 2.15.00.07.28
I tried installing all four but no luck, kept getting the same error.
I rooted the other day and I have seen a lot of talk about it but I'm not sure on exactly how to do it or if it would even make enough of a difference. I'm running KaosV 38.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running unrevoked rooted stock 2.2 and have ROM Manager installed. I'm trying to install DSP Manager and the following happens:
Select Download ROM
Select Virtuous
Select Extra Goodies
Click the "Download" button
Select "DSP Audio Manager"
Click the OK button
Select "Backup Existing ROM"
Click the OK Button
Click the OK button on the "Reboot and Install" dialog
Phone reboots to Skating Androids screen. Bootloader is selected, so I press the power button (my other options are Reboot, Reboot Bootloader, and Power Down). I get a new Skating Androids screen that shows Fastboot, Recovery, Clear Storage, Simlock and Factory Reset. I select Recovery and press the power button. Back to the same screen from step 10.
I want to overclock my rooted hero. Wanted to know if anyone could help with the risks of overclocking....

View 5 Replies View RelatedI read somewhere that rooted phones can use the mobile hotspot feature that most come with, without Verizon knowing about it. I've also however heard that sometimes it still gets back to the carrier and they cancel your service. I've been using my tethering in very small doses because I'm not sure if big red is monitoring me. If they aren't I want to take full advantage of the tethering feature.

View 4 Replies View RelatedUsed PdaNet in the past under the free trial without much problem, was told not to upgrade to avoid the blocking of https and to do backup with astro to save that feature.. switched to a different phone for awhile and just came back to the eris still had pdanet installed but had removed from pc and had to reinstall there.. I can log into alot of site with user/pass but not yahoo or ebay (the two I need most) When I re-installed on pc it also reinstalled on phone. Did this mess things up? WHen I go into astro the only options now are to uninstall or browse file.. Is there any way to get back to where I was? Is USB tethering an option with a rooted phone?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Pantech Flex P8010. I was rooted on ICS 4.0.4 and then I installed Jelly Bean Update by restoring rooted backup of Jelly Bean 4.1.2 uploaded by Zapper_Master.
After Jelly Bean I got smooth working phone. But, as other I had same issue of Wifi not working and automatic 2x Reboots after atleast gap of 6-7 hours. (I was knowing it before I installed update as others who updated by restoring zip also faced same issue. But, It was ok for me as I like Jelly Bean the most.)
But, there was way to enable native wifi tethering on this lovely phone on ICS. [URL] ......
And I followed same steps (After Installing SQLite Editor, I just backed up database & changed value from settings.db secure table on actual database.)
Line 1. softap_free_supported
Line 2. softap_entitlement_interval
Change Line 1′s value to 1 in the SQL editor. Change Line 2′s value to 0 in the SQL editor save and close or just close depending on the editor.
SUPPER IMPORTANT if the file permissions on settings.db are not rw-rw-rw make them so in your file explorer.
There was a risk of bricking phone as there is no recovery available for Jelly Bean.
I just wanted to let others know that above method also works on Jelly Bean. But, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I will not be responsible if anything goes wrong & you brick your lovely flex.
I know that the incredible will be underclocked to 788mhz for 1ghz, but is it possible to overclock it? I mean, will someone probably make it possible? I would love OCing that baby to 1-1.2!

View 5 Replies View RelatedJust did one click root and im now fully rooted on stock 2.1 ota. I downloaded 2.2 rooted + the radio and wifi. How do I go about installing it? Should I do it through Rom manager? or do it under clockwork recovery? And which do I do first? The rom or the radio/wimax? Do I need to rename any of the Zips?
View 19 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone recently and installed the leaked 2.2 update.I ran Unrevoked as well as Unrevoked Forever, so I have S-OFF on my phone.I want to now put the official 2.2 release on my phone, while of course keeping my root.It would be best to keep my data on there, but if I have to run a Titanium backup and restore once it's installed, that's okay too.I just need to know the process to do this and where to get the update.I am running the leaked 2.2 Froyo update from May and I have the 2.05.00.06.11 radio.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have taken a lot of steps this evening... I had Stock 2.2 OTA, which I was able to downgrade to 2.1-update1. I tried the unrevoked method a number of times, but perhaps (as some stated) because I have Windows 7 64 bit, I never was able to get through the process.
I used Simple Root, which didn't work initially, but I forced some updates through adb (and looking at Toast Method). In any case, I think I'm rooted now, but not completely sure.
I have a # cursor, instead of a $, so I think that indicates root.. I also can reboot into clockwork recovery.
However, Rom Manager indicates it doesn't have permission, therefore, I can't get any ROMs to update. I tried to rename the ROMs as update.zip, but that didn't work. I noticed the ROM Manager appears to be looking for an older version of Clockwork, and perhaps that why it doesn't recognize it.
In short,
How can I make sure I'm rooted?
How can I update a ROM?
In particular I want a 2.2 ROM (probably Fresh).
I followed the sticky to the letter and rooted. I downloaded/paid for Setpcu and Temp Monitor.
I want to install one of the custom ROM's, but need help with two things. First, which one is best/most stable? Secondly, I need a ROM installation for Dummies, sort of like the sticky above.
I rooted my phone yesterday and everything went pretty smooth. Did a simple nandroid backup too. Installed setcpu and both version of rom manager. Here is the problem. everythime I try to run clockworkmod manager I get this error "An error occured while attempting to run privileged commands" I did download a cyanogen rom but nothing. Can't reboot in recovery either.
When I go to setcpu in in read only mode and can't change anything. it says "no root access detected are application have permissions?"
Ans last, When I open superuser permissions, Screen is black and can't see nothing. is this normal?
I think I am rooted but can not install clockworkMod Recovery Want to upgrade to Froyo
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo can I install any rom (Specifically the newest Bugless Beast froyo rom) right now?
Or do I need to be on 2.2 froyo first, and if so how do I get there?
I installed unrEVOked3. It says it was successful. I downloaded ROM manager, busybox, and Titanium Backup. Busybox says my phone is rooted. I have a USCC american HTC Desire. I tried to Install Defrost 5.7 when I try to install in it looks like all is well, then it goes to a white screen with green HTC logo. I then have to do a battery pull and restore to get back to my phone being usable. I am getting a list of saved backups because I have been trying repeatedly.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install 2.2 over my rooted 2.1 using clockwork recovery and the linked file from the original 2.2 rooted thread. Everytime I try, I get to verifying current system, then I get assert failed... apply_patch_check("/system/app/AdService.apk", then a bunch of other numbers, then E: Error in /sdcard/droidx_rooted_froyo.zip (status 7), Installation aborted.
I have tried everything I can think of. I have unrooted and tried to install the straight up 2.2 leak file through recovery mode, and get the same error.
I have reinstalled adservice.apk, still get the same error.
