i lost all my contacts and im trying to use backup assistant to sync my contacts and they are not adding back on. i check my verizon wireless account and i still have the contacts on the webpage?.. not sure exactly what is going on. i did drop my fone and it have a dent but this can not be the reason why?

I backup my contacts to my Verizon using the preinstalled Backup Assistant. When I visit the website all of my contacts are in there. But when I factory reset my phone and try to restore the contacts it only gives me about 1/3 of them. What gives? Can anybody explain this and tell me how to get all of my contacts from My Verizon onto my Incredibe?

They have you download those on the backup assistant when setting up the phone. I would like to delete the backup assistant ones and use the Google ones. How would I go about that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had my phone rooted and i loaded the cyanogenmad 6 and it worked fine. but i forget to do titatnium backup so i lost all my contacts! i tried to install back up manager for verizon but it wont let me. now im trying to go back to stock without root so i can get my contacts and redo everything. i followed everything step by step and put the file in my root of my sd and i loaded in hboot but its not showing anything.

I assume that I will be able to simply download the backup assistant app on the DINC and update all of the contacts from the Dare, is that correct? Disabling Backup Assistant on the HTC Droid Incredible There may be other ways to disable backup assistant, but follow these steps to remove duplicate contacts and backup assistant without having to factory reset. Please be aware that I just tinkered around until I got the desired result. I'm no expert and I have no idea if this effects the phone in any other way. I did this over the weekend and everything is working perfectly on my phone. So proceed at your own risk, I don't want to get any pm's about how your phone blew up. I'm just trying to help out here.
1) Be sure to have all your contacts backed up to your Gmail account. Check online before proceeding to step 2.
2) Log into your My Verizon account. Go to the contacts tab, sort by list view and select all contacts. Delete the entire list. There's a deleted contacts tab as well. Select that and delete anything that's in there.
3) Go into your Incredible settings tab, select applications, manage applications. Do not sort or filter, allow list to populate. Select Sync Service, (icon resembles backup assistant icon) select clear data.
4) Also in manage applications scroll down to backup assistant, select clear data. This should do it.
5) To verify backup assistant is now disabled, select settings, accounts and sync, then under manage accounts, select backup assistant. You should be looking at a license agreement screen.
No more backup assistant, no factory reset.

If you're rooted, you can use the free "Titanium Backup" to uninstall Backup Assistant. Be sure to back it up in Titanium backup before uninstalling it. After you uninstall, it will no longer appear at all in Accounts and Sync.
Once upon a time I accidently thought backup assistant would be useful and set it up. Now ever since setting it up it runs in the background like an annoying pest. I have cleared the cache as online recommendations have mentioned, but Backup Assistant STILL runs in the background and restarts if forced to quit.I'm now rooted and have the Clockwork recovery mod on my phone....what can I do now to permenantly banish "Backup Assistant" from running? I've heard of people deleting it but then having problems with syncing FCing. So I'm just looking to slam the door in its face.

I have just been updated to Froyo this morning, and a LOT of threads talk about backing up your phone and doing a factory reset. A Verizon tech installed Backup Assistant onto my phone when he transferred my old contacts to my Incredible, and I see it running in the background all the time. Is this enough for my 'backup' when i do a factory reset? I don't see an actual app or anything. Thanks in advance for the help!
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo this morning I decided to use the Backup Assistant for the first time & set it up through my Verizon, got the pin & proceeded to BU my contacts. When I went back to the contacts on my phone there where other names, numbers & email addresses mixed in with my contacts (at least 10 or more). I just started deleting them not thinking much about it, but now I'm a little concerned. I ran the Backup again and it worked fine. Any one experience this or have any ideas? I searched and can't find any info on this glitch.

TO ALL Storm users (and other users with 5.0, not sure if it works with 4.7.. should be able, havent tested it) you CAN backup your phone via backup assistant from Verizon. I did this yesterday and now have all of my contacts backed up on my account.
While the Tour and Storm 2 had the program pushed to their devices, I (and others) were still able to grab the link!
Simply download and install the backup assistant from the tour link.

When logged in to verizonwireless.com, you can simply select all contacts then export them as a .csv file.
After you do that, login to your gmail account (you have to have one to use an android device anyway) and you can import your contacts.

View 15 Replies View RelatedToday I went to update my X10. While at work it wouldn't allow me to as it insisted I connected it to a computer. So at home I got the USB cabled hooked up to my Linux Laptop and then discovered it had to be a windows computer. Anyway, I got it hooked to a Windows computer and the update process began. I followed every instruction and set all tickboxes for backup. After unplugging this and plugging it back in and rebooting here and there, it finally reached the restore process. I left it restoring for a while.
When I came back to it, it said something had crashed. I don't know what as I'd just woken from a nap. But, it seems all my applications are restored. Yet my gmail account & facebook account have become disassociated from my phone and all my contacts no longer have any names or pictures. I opened the contacts/phone book and the list is completely empty. I tried to import contacts but it says it cannot find any anywhere. I have work related contacts as well as family & friends and really need to get my contacts back - please advise?

I upgraded my X10 mini pro to Android 2.1 today and I followed the instructions and the YouTube video EXACTLY step by step.I made a back-up before the update, with the updated Back-up & restore app.Now the Android update is done and i've tried and tried but I can't get my contacts back. As suggested, I have taken the backup using the backup & restore app.
After, the phone got upgraded, I could find only facebook contacts in my list.
then i went to View options and played around with all the check boxes and i could view the contacts.
how ever, i could see each contact having the numbers multiple times inside it.
so, I deleted the contacts and tried to restore them again.
the restore was successful. i can see the contacts in my favorites list. when i dial/receive calls, i can still see the contact name.
but, the contacts are not being shown in the list. i know this is a weird problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone else having issues with Backup Assistant. Mine has not worked in over a month. Everytime it is scheduled to run I get a message that says incorrect PIN. I know the PIN I'm using is correct, I click on "forgot PIN" and get the same number I'm using. VZW tells me it is a "KNOWN PROBLEM" but apparently in over a month they haven't been able to fix it. It worked to begin with when I got the DX, how can something like this happen. If they made changes that didn't work, can't they change it back?

I had all my contacts copied over to my new Fascinate and all my Gmail contacts info also got synched up. I just wanted the contacts with phone numbers to show up in my Contacts list and so selected the option that displays Contacts this way.
Now the backup service seems to only back up 4 contacts (#BAL, #DATA, #MIN, #PMT) and none of my actual contacts. how to get all my contacts synched up with the online Backup Assistant?
