View 1 RepliesOk, I am rooted and have the wireless tethering app installed. @ 1st it worked pretty good, but here recently it will work for a few minutes then cause my internet to go out for like 30 min or so...but when I tether with pdanet it works for hours with no problem ever. what am I doing wrong when I wirelessly tether to make it stop working, when it stops working, my mac is still connected to the wifi but won't transmit anything.

View 1 Replies View Relatedjust announced and released, a new version of Skype that CAN use wifi, something everyone was clamoring for. I have not loaded up yet, but might try later today and see how wifi works. it is getting okay Comments, but not great. Huge 14mb - which for rooted people is okay as we can force it to the SD card as it is not native SD card app though. No video ability. apparently sign-out or logging off is a bit tricky and hidden.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt worked last time I was rooted but just rooted again after 2.2. My computer recognizes it but when I try to connect it just says no internet access.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone w/ unrevoked3. Downloaded Wireless Tether App. Allowed Superuser access etc. When I "start tethering" my computer can pick it up and connect but it says no Internet access. Am I missing something here?
View 3 Replies View RelatedNew to Android, not new to smartphones. My BB Storm didn't have WiFi though which is the root of my question.
How do I know which system DINC is using to access internet at any given time? For example, if I am at home connected via WiFi is my DINC using WiFi or 3G to connect to the internet? Also, when my DINC synchs up my accts (Facebook, Weatherbug, Native Weather App, Gmail and Mail) is it using 3G or WiFI? Can I set a preferred connection somewhere? I've looked, but can't seem to find something like that.
Is there any validity whatsoever to the above?
This dire warning was plastered all over the main VZW device forums here recently. As data-wipe is a routine step when flashing a custom ROM, it certainly raised a few eyebrows in xda and other quarters. Now the posts are just gone...
Ever since i got 2.2 i have been losing 3g and i will not get it back until i restart the phone.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy phone isn't working right. It will randomly restart and get stuck on the white HTC screen. It'll only boot back up after a battery pull. I'm going to reset it to default but I want to know how I can back up all my stuff. I could care less about my applications but I don't want to lose contacts or SMS/MMS records, etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAre we ever going to be able to utilize this storage with anything other than a file browser or the stock apps? One of the larger selling points to this phone was the fact that it had some internal storage. It is useful, pretty fast and it's right there. I was hoping that HTC would get right on this and have an update out, but I've yet to even hear HTC admit that there is even a problem. I don't remember being told that my internal storage would only be available with the apps that came stock on the phone.
I, currently, have decided to keep my music on the internal storage. It frees up my SD card for storing stuff from apps and the like. I've got a couple short videos on the internal, too. I've got just over 2500 songs which weigh in just under 5 gigs, on my phone. I would love to be able to use TuneWiki or something that was a little better about getting and showing album covers, or even have a choice for a better music player and/or widget. I currently can't do that, because nothing seems to read the internal storage. Do we have any word that this is going to change in the near future. I know that we are all excited about the prospect of FroYo, soon, but what about this existing issue.
how does this affect those of us who are rooted and haven't yet updated the radio?

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my motorola droid and other andriod devices there is a known issue where if you enter too many incorrect pattern attempts it ask's for your google email/password but doesnt accept it. Even though its the correct password, the only fix is a hard reset. Is that bug still around on the incredible or has google fixed it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've read many topics from many android forums about this issue, but I have yet to see any posted solutions. If anyone know what program to convert videos, what settings to use, what resolution, what frequencies, what bitrates that will result in sync'd playback all the way through a movie, let me know.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy hotspot is all set up. I turn it on and I can see it from my laptop. I connect the laptop and EVO says there is 1 connection. But, the laptop connection gets no Internet access. I've tried it with and without security set up. I've rebooted. I even took the battery out and let it rest. (All of that cleared out the Error 67 on the phone but still the laptop sees no Internet.) Internet on the phone is great - even got 4G, but. What in the heck am I doing wrong? How can I get Internet access for the laptop?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI switched from WM6.1 to HTC Hero. With ActiveSync, my phone can access the Internet through the PC's Internet connection. But I cannot do so with HTC Sync. Can I get my phone access the Internet through the PC connection, without connecting to Wi-Fi or 3G?
View 10 Replies View RelatedHow exactly do I set up WiFi work most efficiently on my EVO? Does it know to choose the best option for getting to the internet? (WiFi or 3/4G?)
Here's why I ask: I have an app that syncs info between the internet and the phone. When I can't get a signal, it can't sync. Often I have crappy reception at home, one or two bars only (a whole 'nother thread), but I do have a strong wifi signal.
Being a newbie to all this, in my little world, logic assumes that the phone would automatically switch from 3or4G to wifi for the exchange of data (but not for talking). But I think I don't have it right. Can someone explain it to me? And how to best set up my phone to take advantage of the strongest signal for data exchange?
I'm having an issue with HTC One. The problem is the phone CAN connect to wifi / mobile network, but it CANNOT access internet. Every time I try to access any websites or apps that require internet connection like Facebook, it takes so long for the page-loading thing, and then it said:"The webpage is not available" or "No network connection." I also attempted to shut it down and restart, disconnect wifi and re-type the password. It doesn't work at all.
P.S: I did test the other devices, and the network works fine. So, apparently, it's not the network problem itself.
My wife did the froyo update today (8-8-10) she is unable to access the internet and receives this message : The application Internet (process com.Android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Then the " Force close " box pops up. She took it to the Sprint store and they were stumped, the phone says that it is connected even though it is not!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have used below steps for setup the my emulator
1.C:Program Filesandroid-sdk-window ools>adb shell
2. # sqlite3 /data/data/com.google.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
3. sqlite> INSERT INTO system VALUES(99,'http_proxy', '10.10.8.1:8080');
After that i closed adb shell command prompt and my emulator. and then opened my emulator but webbrowser is not opening any page(web page not available messaage) .
I've been using this method to gain access to internet from my Android emulator. emulator -http-proxy <> -avd <>
It works but is that the best way to do it? It just doesn't feel right that I need to open the emulator from command line and can't just do it from Eclipse or something.
Can't seem to find an internet option on the "AVD Manager" either.
I had my mobile unlocked from the T mobile network, so i could use my three sim card in the HTC Desire. However the sim works fine making calls, and using the wifi, but I cannot access the mobile internet. Three have told me the mobile is not compatible as it is not a three phone. Can anyone please assist? When i boot up the phone T Mobile branding appears, has this got anything to do with it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am riding solo on my my monthly free Internet allowance. I get 500mb n Ive only got 36mb left for the rest of the month! So basically i wanna freeze all Internet access, except through the browser and my email (which updates every hour). Is it possible to block all other Internet access?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just installed the SDK and then added the 1.6 component. Then I created an AVD. When I launch the AVD (inidentally, there is a brief error message saying could not load preferences) and try and login, it says no network connection. THe computer definitely has an Internet connection, otherwise I could not write this message.. Evberything I have read suggests you don't have to do anything special to get Internet access in the emulator. My computer's Internet connection is via LAN, which connects to a 3G router. I read something about using 10.0.2.2 in the proxy settings, but when I specify that in their SDK, the SDK hangs upon launch as it tries to find the repository, or whatever it does at startup.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an application that is hard to find. I want an application to block the internet, but only for some applications, for example leaving the WhatsApp with access to receive real-time notifications.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI like LBE Privacy Guard, especially for its on-demand permission requests when an app asks to access my SMS Inbox or whatnot; I like that I can ensure that it never accesses it, always does without asking, or continues to ask each time.
I'm also using the firewall with mixed results; I don't like having to choose each app and whether it's allowed to access the internet via 3g/wifi ahead of time. I'd like a popup request with similar options (though I guess it would be more like a timeout rather than per-session, e.g. "yes it can access the internet over my 3g connection but only for the next 10 minutes."
Is there already an app that does this? I've checked a few firewall apps like Droid Wall (and a few similar apps) and they don't offer this on-demand (or on-app-accessing-internet, I suppose!)
I am unable to get internet access for my installed apps. I am able to browse through default browser and opera mini, suggesting that my internet connection is working fine. However, none of my apps are able to access it. I cannot use Play Store or youtube. I cannot even login to either twitter or facebook via their apps. I am using Nexus One on stock Froyo. Phone is rooted.
