HTC Incredible :: Image Recovery Whilst Retaining Root - S-Off

Oct 14, 2010

Phone Highlights: S-Off. Stock Froyo. Rooted. ClockworkMod installed.
================================================== ==

OK, it was my fault - I was stoopid.. I was having issues with Marketplace and then found that GTalk wasn't working and, well, one thing followed another and I blew away the GTalk APK. Stoopid I know, but it happens.

So given that finding another copy of GTalk 1.3 is proving rather hard, I think option 2 is to restore the stock Rom.

I have S-Off and Clockwork Mod and I rooted with 2.1.0 previously. I've got a recent Nanodroid backup (not recent enough to have the APK on it though - ) and continuous Titanium Backups all nestled neatly on my SD.

Now, bear in mind I've had several weeks of hell at work, my mind's not firing on all cylinders when it comes to me lil' Droid so you'll have to forgive me if this is a real silly question, but....

What steps do I need to follow to return back to my stock 2.2 rooted goodness after I've used ClockworkMod to do an image recovery? Can I assume that the recovery will just put stock Froyo back on? If so, do I need to do a Nanodroid restore afterwards and are there any steps I need to follow to become re-rooted once complete?

I should add that apart from a lack of Marketplace right now, the phone is otherwise perfectly happy and functional.

HTC Incredible :: Root - Wireless N Hack Using Recovery Tool?

Jun 24, 2010

once we get root and install the recovery tool, we'll never have to go through the loop process again to get into recovery. I feel like that's a major newb question but just wanted to make sure. If that's the case, can somebody list or point me to the procedure to do the wireless N hack using the recovery tool? Just read in the thread below how some users might be having problems with wireless teather after doing the "N" hack. If this is the case, perhaps it's best to skip it altogether.

Android :: All Static’s Variables Retaining Values When Launching Again

Dec 1, 2009

I have been facing problems to manage statics variables used in my android application. If we exit the application against a particular event (touch or key event -which is must for my app), all the statics variables are retaining the values when I am launching it again. I am invoking Activity.finish() method for termination . I know there is a collection type class available called Bundle and we can use it to save the states of all the statics and get those back when again creating the same activity during relaunch, but it would be a hard task if we want to port some j2me applications to Android because of having thousands of statics variables. Is there any way to kill the application completely including all the statics variable used there?

I tried with System.exit(0) and it works well for Android G1 and G2 (tested in firmware 1.6). But in Android Robyn (prototype) the same causes a major defect ("Activity not responding" popup apears just after exit) and I came to know from android dev forum that calling System.exit(0) is not recommended for termination of an activity.

HTC Incredible :: Updating Radio - How To Boot Into Stock Recovery And Not Clockworks Recovery

Aug 11, 2010

ok, so I put the PB31IMG file on my sdcard, and the dinc_ota. I changed dinc_ota to update. (I did not name the file update.zip.zip) I powered down, I entered bootloader, and it loaded the PB31IMG and whatever. then I hit volume down and selected recovery. this brought me to clockwork recovery. I noticed the isntructions said to boot into STOCK recovery. well, I like a dummy ignored that and tried to apply the update.zip thru clockwork.

This is what I got:

CODE:.......................

So, is this because I tried doing it through clockwork recovery? is it because I didn't apply the first OTA update we got? what does that mean exactly anyways? is it saying I need to install the leaked froyo ROM, and then update the radio? How do I boot into stock recovery and not clockworks recovery? does this count as applying the update.zip once, meening if I do it again I'll brick my phone? should I sell this thing and get a samsung flip phone because I'm too stupid to own a Dinc?

HTC Eris :: Get Recovery Image

Mar 27, 2010

You can test to make sure everything is working by going to a command prompt, go to the tools directory of the Android SDK, and type: "adb shell". If you see a "$" (or "#" if you're already rooted) sign you're good. i can't figure that out. what is directory of the android sdk? i think i know but im now sure. i did everything on the android sdk tutorial but it seems i was just doing it on my computer and not my phone. how do i know if it went on my phone? and how do i put it on my phone if i didnt do it. am i suppose to sync it of just connect it.

I put it in an adapter, plugged into my PC and ran Check Disk, which appeared to restore R/W status. I then put it back in the phone, rebooted and tried to flash a new image with ROM Manager, I have the read only issue again. I still have root, root apps still receive SU permissions, but I have no nand access and cannot re flash CWM or Amon.

HTC Hero :: How To Update Recovery Image / Radio?

Jun 15, 2010

I rooted my phone a while back and I am trying to update the recovery image. I think the recovery image I have downloaded (recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2) has some extra options such as being able to flash the radio which is what I want to do. I have updated my rom to 2.1 by copying the image accross and naming it update.zip and booting into recovery and applying the update. That is fine and I am now running SenseHERO-2.1_signed-update. I have tried using flashrec but it fails with "cannot run command" and I think it is because I already have a patched recovery image. What is the best thing to do? Can I update my recovery image manually from the command line? Can I update the radio in the same way? Have I misunderstood the procedure?
