View 2 RepliesWhen I have wifi on I have full bars and fast browsing etc on my device but I notice Activesync emails don't always push until the device sleeps for 10 min or so when the wifi shuts off.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my Incredible for almost a week now and I still havent brought myself to set up my Gmail to POP my work and Hotmail accounts. I just don't care for the Gmail system or client for Android OS.
I DO have a Gmail account (pretty much forced into it) but my main accounts are Hotmail and my own custom domain (non-exchange).
Yes, i'm coming from a Blackberry and have been spoiled with the best Push technology out there. No, i will not go back to Blackberry, so please spare the suggestions.
What i am wondering is if there is any 3rd party app out there that will Pop your email acct(s) and push the mail to your phone to either the stock HTC Mail app or it's own 3rd party client.
I've seen K-9 - but not sure if this is what i'm looking for.
I've seen Touchdown - but this appears to be only for Exchange.
Can either of these applications provide Push Email to Android or are there any others out there? If not, does anyone know of any on the horizon?
Gmail.is supposed to be pushed to the Incredible correct? I am using the HTC mail widget for my pop work account and the gmail icon for gmail. But email seems much slower to reach the gmail account. Also when I send emails out the.gmail takes considerably longer.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI haven't seen an follow up to this thread about using ActiveSync to get Gmail push to the HTC Mail app.
Just to share my experience, I setup ActiveSync for Gmail using the instructions posted in that thread, then setting the frequency to "as items arrive". I now get my Gmail litterally within 5-10 seconds of actually receiving it. In fact, I just tested it out by sending myself an email on my computer, and my phone beeped within 5 seconds.
Looking at my phone without any extra processes running, it doesn't seem to be "scanning" or trying to pull email every so often. Maybe I'm wrong, but this seems like a legit real time Gmail "push" to my phone. I'll have more info on battery life over the weekend, but for now this works great.
how to set up Gmail through an exchange server so that you can get push email in the HTC Mail app. I obviously can't be 100% sure this works, but the folks over at XDA seem to think this is the solution for the Desire. The instructions are for a Windows Mobile Device, but all of the information you need to fill in inside the HTC Mail app should be available at the link. Hope this solves some push email problems on Thursday (or Wednesday for some of you lucky ones)! Setting Up Your Windows Mobile Phone for Google Sync: Google Sync

View 4 Replies View RelatedBeen loving my DI but have noticed that when I turn wifi on, gmail is not being pushed to my phone. Then when I turn wifi off, it still doesn't push. I have to turn the phone on and off to get it to resume pushing...Seems like the WIFI and 3G don't like to play nice...
View 10 Replies View RelatedI cannot find a way to change the push setting for the Gmail app that came with the phone.
I setup a Yahoo account and was able to adjust hourly, 2 hour, manual, etc..
For the Gmail, I cannot find a setting that allows to adjust this?
I just got my incredible today, have it setup with my gmail. Something I noticed is my emails take anywhere from 1-5+ minutes to pop up on my phone. This is my first android so I don't know if something is wrong. I have sync enabled, not sure what else it could be.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust thinking, should the Push Gmail use less battery power than "Pull" such as Yahoo Mail. It would seem that the pull process is having to go look every 15 min and the Push process is merely sending it as it arrives.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't see the emails that were sent/received prior to getting this phone and syncing up the email account. I can see the folders that I've created a long time ago but nothing is in them. I read a couple of threads saying that I should enable labels but I'm not sure how to do that on the Incredible. I don't have that option under "menu" for it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedInitially, I thought I just needed to change my Outlook settings so it would leave a copy of messages on the server, which I did. But still, only around half my emails actually come to my phone.Has anyone else had this problem?

My gmail is not showing new emails since sunday
Has anyone noticed their gmail not really PUSHING anymore? I think it's happened since the required update Verizon sent out this morning. I have to hit Refresh to get the new stuff to dump. Anyone else have this problem and/or know what's up?
View 4 Replies View RelatedUntil today, my gmail was working great (I use the gmail app). Then today, it just stopped working. I was surprised that I didn't receive any emails today, then I checked my computer and saw that I had several. So I hit refresh on my phone a they popped up in my inbox. I sent a test email after that and didn't receive it until I hit refresh. Can someone guide me through getting it working again?
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy girlfriend seems to having problems with gmail. She says she doesn't receive ALL her emails on her phone but they show up on the computer. Any ideas why her phone is doing this? What can I do to fix this issue?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo this thing just started within the past week. My phone's stock gmail app will show new emails so I look at them and then they are all read, showing 0 new.But when I login to the web browser version, 5 minutes or even later(up to hours later), the web browser gmail is not updating to show that I already read the emails.I'm on JH2. So maybe it is a bug with the firmware?Or maybe a setting got changed but I'm not seeing how to handle the issue.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post on the androidforums. I usually just read what other people wrote, but I can't seem to find a related post for my current problem.I date someone overseas in S. Korea, and since there's no way to send text msgs in Korean from here, I talk to her using activesync with a gmail account. She can check emails on her phone from Korea, and my phone sends me notification everytime I get an email from her. Basically it's same as texting except it allows me to type in Korean and doesn't cost a dime. For the reasons mentioned above, saving battery life isn't much of an option for me. I need to have activesync or gmail push running instantly. I tried using "check email every 5 minutes", but just imagine having to stay idle for 5 minutes everytime you text with your friends.
As of today, gmail push on android seems to work with 5 - 30 minutes delay (or manual refresh). However, Exchange Activesync will not even allow me to sync gmail (Different errors every time even though I'm putting the same information; gmail address,m.google.com as server address, username & password). I thought activesync just allows me to use "gmail push" on HTC mail app, so I don't quite understand why gmail app works (despite the lag), but activesync won't even let me sync my mail. Activesync last worked on 06/17/2010.Also, gmail push works with no lag when I'm on wifi. Is this normal?I'm starting to think there's a problem with the Sprint network or my phone. Gmail push also works instantly if my 3G bar is white. If it's greyed out, no emails come until the 3G bar turns white. Now I have to turn on AIM or MSN messenger to keep the data flowing and manually keep the 3G bar white. Then gmail push comes instantly. It's pretty ridiculous because the battery then lasts about 2-4 hours.
I have noticed for the last few months that sometimes, my phone doesnt get emails pushed to it. i have my phone set to notify me as the emails arrive... yet, i constantly find myself checking my mail, then it refreshing and giving me emails that are days old...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got the Samsung Captivate 3 days ago and I love it. I have been doing research trying to figure out all the little ins and outs to this phone. There are a few things that im stop not 100% clear about and would like for you guys to shed some light on this situation for me.
1. What is Launcher Pro and how exactly is it used.
2. Is there anyway to get push notifications with emails and facebook. Im always having to check my email to see if I have any.
3. What happens when I fill up all 7 pages with apps? Will I not be able to download anymore?
Follow these steps and you could save yourself the hourly push for emails. (This works for GMail). It sends you a text alert everytime you get an email. Most of the time in a matter of second. I used this method on my iphone to save battery life from email pushing.
- log on to you gmail account
- click on settings on the right top corner
- click on forwarding and pop/imap tab
- in the forwarding section click the "forward a copy of incoming mail to (at this point enter your 10 digit phone number@text.att.net)
- click save changes
You will now recieve a text message whenever you get an email. So all you battery hoggs can keep your push off if you want.
My school email address runs through gmail but is not an @gmail.com address. Is there a way to set up this email with the stock gmail app?If not how do I do it with the stock mail app because I couldn't figure that out either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedGetting your G-mail account to push emails instantly? I always have to refresh my app in order for it to tell me that I have emails.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy husband and i just got Droid X's. We have a business with a website and associated webmail. Our email address is an IMAP account created by our website developer. After trying to configure the embedded mail program, we installed K9 based on a lot of good reviews on this site. We've got it working, the only issue is we can't seem to get it to automatically notify us when a new email comes in as the phone does with Gmail. The notification doesn't come in at all - you have to go into K9 and "Get Mail". We have it set to sync all folders.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use the Gmail app for my business email. My email is pushed, and all is well. I have a personal Gmail account that I set up with the stock HTC email software. It just polls at whatever time frame I tell it. I don't like that. I want it to push.
Any way to make it push?
I'm not interested in forwarding my personal email to business, by the way.
All of a sudden my gmail is not coming forward unless I refresh it. It never lets me know anymore if I have a new email. It was working great.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI flashed flipz rooted rom onto my EVO. Everything is working great except my email.
The only way I can get my email is to manually refresh from within the gmail app. Before flashing this rom, all my email was being pushed to my phone without any type of interaction, normally, it would reach my phone before it got to my desktop browser.
I've double checked every setting and it's all the way it was before. Even double checked it against my hero and everything looks copacetic. Has anybody else had this problem or possibly any clues as to what i can do or try?
I love that Gmail emails come right away but my main email is Yahoo (and I have others) is there anyway to set yahoo up for Push (I have searched and searched but there is no difinitive answer that I could find) - how about other email services.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow do I set up e-mail push service for gmail to Dx? I have the account added and can manually go to the account and tell it to sync and it works. It never updates by itself. I went to settings> data manager> data delivery and "email and corporate sync is a darker color and I can not click it.
