HTC Incredible :: Remote Control For Music?
Jun 3, 2010
Does anyone know if there is a remote control (not app) for headphones that can control play/pause/volume? I listen to music at night and on long trips and it would be great to have something like this so I don't have to keep pulling out the phone. This would be the final blow to getting rid of my iPod once and for all
Alternatively, I wonder if there is a wireless one via bluetooth but that would kill the battery...

I like Remote for iTunes but hate dealing with iTunes in general.
I play my music from PC >Optical cable > AV receiver.
Just wondering if theres a good Remote app that would accomplish this ?
(willing to install a 3rd party software on PC)
Prefer something phone/Tablet friendly.

I've been using my Desire with normal headphones for a couple of weeks and have just tried the supplied ones with the remote control. I use Google Listen quite a bit and was downloading a podcast with it earlier. The problem comes when I try and listen to something on the media player - the << and >> seem to control both applications at the same time, so I have podcasts and music playing together! It also creates big delays in the reaction time to the controls creating clips from both apps being played randomly. Am I missing something or is the only way to do to 'force close' Google Listen in applications first?

I would love a music app that could be controlled with the phone still in my pocket. Sometimes I'm working in the yard with gloves on, dirty, sweaty, and the last thing I want to do is take my glove off, pull the phone out of my pocket and get it dirty while trying to skip. I know there are headphones w/controls but that would still be tough with gloves. Tapping would be awesome.
Something like:
One tap for pause
Two for play
Three for next song
etc
Maybe even use hard or soft taps. Or tap-wait-tap to avoid controlling it by accidental bumps.
Anything out there like this? Is it even possible to write an app that does this?

I purchased the Xtralogic Remote Desktop app from the market today for $20, and it's a bit disappointing. It's quite laggy and buggy, and for that price...I'd expect just a teeny bit better. It's a fun app, but it's just not very functional, for me at least. Anywho, my question is: Is there a better remote desktop app out there? A free one for rooted phones? A similarly priced, but better running app? I don't mind the price so long as it is justified.

I've been reading a lot to being able to remote control my Linux running computers at home. I have a 60gig music collection and want to be able to play it smoothly on any of the computers or my Android. Of course I want to remote control the computers since most of them are headless (=without monitors) and until now I've remote desktop-ed them from the laptop. Oh and all the computers are Ubuntu installed. It turns out there are many different media players, even allowing DAAP or UDNP setup so that the media library is shared over my LAN, even to the Internet (subsonic). The best application I've found are Spottily and Groove shark, they're a beauty to use since the music is always available - but unfortunately they don't allow for any kind of remote control. So I thought; what if I could use some of the great media players for Android but just change the audio device they're playing on. Since Lucid Lynx actually brought an updated version of Pulse audio (the default audio device) which allows you to play music onto another computer on the network!

Has anyone put a packet sniffer on the remote control app provided for Android devices to interact with Google TV? I'm curious about what the protocol is. I would guess that it's ProtoBuf, or possibly XBMC (wouldn't that be nice?)...

I use a PC at work all day but quite often want to use GTalk to chat to people. Unfortunately my company blocks it so I can't use a browser to chat but obviously I can through my phone.
I used to have an HTC Desire that was rooted so that allowed me to use droidvnc to connect to my phone from my PC via vncviewer using USB(There's no wifi here). It then meant I could type on my keyboard which makes things a whole lot easier when you're in the middle of something.
Basically now I've gone to an HTC One X I'm just wondering whether there's any app or anything that would let me do the same thing but without rooting the device as I don't want to invalidate any warranties just yet.
I'm really after a bit of software to let me remote control my phone via USB for the purpose of using GTalk.

Is there any remote control app that will work on hulu desktop? I have "mycontrol" which works on windows media center, however, it's not 100% compatible with hulu desktop. It hardly can navigate up and down but works fine with right and left buttons. If there's any remote control works perfectly with hulu, that would be just awesome since there are way more videos on hulu than my windows media center.

I've seen I think one million threads for apps available to turn your Android phone in to a remote control for your PC, but nothing that goes the other way. I've just come from several years of Windows Mobiling and I've always had access to several apps that will allow me to control my phone from my PC.

there is software to convert Bluetooth to IR signals or vise-versa? It would be great to have an app to be able to use the Android phones as learning universal remotes. Would it be a hardware issue? I have an Sprint HTC Hero if it matters.

Since the Playstation 3 uses bluetooth, the remote that you buy in stores for it is bluetooth, and our Motorola Droids are bluetooth compatible, would it be possible for someone (not me cause I don't know how) to make an app that would enable the Droid to be a bluetooth remote for the Playstation 3?? I know there are apps to turn it into a remote, but I think this requires an separate adapter or receiver. Anyways, if anyone knows if its even possible or not, please let me know. If it is possible, does anyone want to tackle this app?? I know I would be willing to pay for it, as I'm sure others might as well.

I'm really close to buying a Desire. The only thing stopping me is the lack of a proper remote control for pausing and skipping songs. I know the earplugs in the box have such a remote, but using those earplugs are out of the question. Something like this is what I want. Anyone know if it's compatible with the Desire? Or if such a thing exist that works on the Desire? DealExtreme: $7.01 3.5mm Stereo Audio Adapter with Microphone for HTC S1/Diamond/Dimond2/G1/G2 (70CM-Length) I'm actually considering modding the earplugs that come with the phone, by replacint the plugs with a female 3.5mm jack. Anybody tried that? Also, please no Bluetooth suggestions. I'm just looking for a wired solution.

I am looking for a way to remote control my android device (Motorola Xoom & Motorola Droid). I assume this will have to occur via Bluetooth but I am open to any option (wifi?)I'd like the following functionality in the remote:
- Launch Music Player
- Launch Maps / Navigation
- Play / Pause / Next Track / Previous track
- Launch Voice Search
- Launch text search
The official motorola Xoom Bluetooth keyboard has physical buttons for many of these operations (maybe not navigation or voice search) but this device is far too large to use as a 'remote'
My ideal situation would be to find a small Bluetooth remote designed for something like this. I've been looking at getting a Wiimote and the app that allows you to map its keys to keystrokes. Are there keyboard shortcuts for these operations?
I also noticed many of the keyboard shortcuts require the 'Search' key (i.e. Search+'b' launches the browser). What if I got a generic bluetooth keyboard without a 'Search' key - what is the alternative keypress?

I have set up a cover page in ssLauncher to be a remote control for xbmc I'm already using xbmc's remote and yatse widgets and would like to find a (preferably vertical slider) widget to control volume, either through the web server or buttons to send ir frequencies.. One for each would be nice lol.
If such a thing exists(?) I haven't been able to find it. All I can find is widgets to control the devices various volume levels. I can't think of any reason it wouldn't be possible...
