View 8 RepliesI just got my first Android phone, a Droid 2.I previously had the original BlackBerry Storm which when I first got it I loved but after a very short time I came to hate for it's crappy interfaces terrible performance and so on. But one thing that it did very well was work with my corporate exchange email.I use rules to move new email from the inbox to folders that really help me to keep my email organized, which is very important since I get 200-300 emails on a normal day and many more when there are emergencies at work. As each was moved to the appropriate folder I would get my notification on my BB and could go read the mail. However now that I am using Froyo, I find that it can see all of my emails and shows the correct folders and so forth but I only get notifications for email that is in the inbox. This does not work well especially when I have a customer emailing me with an emergency.
Is there a way to setup my rules so that they wait for 6 hours (or whatever time I select) before they are moved to one of the other folders so that I can still get my notifications on my Droid 2 but still keep the mailbox relatively organized?I hate the idea of running the rule manually because Outlook requires you to select each one individually and since I have about 50 rules this is a hassle, another option would be to make the rules Client Side only but I cannot seem to find a way to do this either so if anybody can give me instructions on this that would be great.Of course if you have a way that you use for this that works better please let me know as I am open to suggestions, these are just the options that I have come up on my own.
i'm running into some issues inflating layouts and i wonder whether i have something basic wrong.i have a ListView with a custom adapter etc, and of course the item View is custom too. i've been creating the item View in code, and everything works fine, including recycling them and all that. great.but i want to move the View into a resource, where all good Android views live, and weirdness is happening.in the ListView's getView(), i get my inflater and inflate the view by ID. the view itself has its own XML file. i can inflate the top view, but i can't find anything by ID, and when asked for its children, nothing comes back.are there funky rules for inflating views this way? is there a convention for how this should be done inside a ListView?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am aware that this challenge is only open to Apps or developers who have not published their apps on the Android Market before 1st August.
a)What is stopping a developer from just changing the name of his/her app or renaming the app package? Surely others will try this?
b) Are there any developers here that created apps in anticipation for the ADC2 to only find that by publishing on the Android Market, you will lose out on the eligibility clause?
I have registered with swype beta, however it is saying that my login credentials are incorrect, obviously not allowing me to login.Since Swype is a free app, and now back on the market, would it be against the forum rules for someone to post an apk to dl it?I figure ill wait till someone chimes in before asking someone to actually post an apk of they have one.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis morning an email noticed me that the android market rules are changed and that I must accept it within 30 days. Now the prolblem is.I have always distribuited (only on android market due to the lack of dynamic licensing) a free trial, customers who want to buy the product must buy it on our official site. Now rules are changed, we cannot distribuite freel trial on the market and ask to the customers to buy the software on other place. What do you think about that? I don't want to give to the market a non secure version of my software, without dynamic licensing, no need to argue, I can't give the unprotected binary.
View 24 Replies View RelatedLocation based rules dont work. I have GPS checked, and starred but it wont find me. I open up google maps and cell tower triangulation completely sucks. 10 miles off. Now the real question is; Is the dev working on this problem? Should I buy it and hope it gets fixed? The app has alot of potential, but it needs its location fixed bad.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have the same issue in the casual category.I'm assuming it has to do with the percentage of current installs.Since I'm sitting at 23% of total downloaded. But its growing at least.I was down to 15 about a month ago.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a firewall that allows setting rules for individual apps, for example allow an application to connect to [URL] and nothing else. The firewalls I've tested so far (like avast! Mobile Security) only allow the selected application to connect or not, but not filtering by url, domain, ip or such.
The only firewall I've heard of is WhisperMonitor, and is not public yet. Furthermore, it is supposed to require device encryption.
I go back and forth about how to name activity classes.Activity seems to imply a verb, like EditContact, for example. But that seems more like what one would call the Intent that triggers EditContact.Should the activity be named ContactEditor instead?

Unless I'm losing it, whenever I had a new email notification, pulled down the notification bar, and clicked the email, G mail app opened up the email itself. All of a sudden, when I do the same thing, it opens up the G mail In box and I have to click the email itself to open it. Am I delusional and this is how it's always been?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFinally got launcher pro to work. It actually seems slower than sense.... anyone else experience this? More specifically, opening menus is not as smooth and switching screens is a little choppy. Also... I do not get notifications on my sms and email icons when i have a new message or a email. I get it in my task bar but not on the actual icon, where it would usually tell me how many new emails or messages I have...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am making the jump from a Palm Treo to the Incredible. Came very very close to getting the Droid and then a friend told me to hold out for the Incredible. From everything that I am reading I am really glad that I have waited. Anyway, I use AOL and gmail. How is it expected these email accounts will work with the Incredible? Will I get instant notification of a new email, will I have to set it up to check each account for a time frame I specify or will I manually have to open the email and check it? I know that this may be a basic question, however on my Palm I have to manually go into my email and download messages.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust a heads up that your Cox POP email might not work properly on the incredible.I just set up my cox POP email on the incredible's email client and I can only read incoming mail from the POP email server but can not send email via the SMTP outgoing server. The same issue occurs if you use other android email clients that you download.I spoke with Cox, Verizon and eventually HTC tech support about the issue and after several hours of research (the last 1.5 hrs done by HTC) it was discovered that the incredible is unable to connect to the Cox outgoing smtp server for the west coast (smtp.west.cox.net). The HTC support team was able to use different mobile devices on the Verizon network to connect to the cox outgoing server (which means the server is just fine), but they were unable to get any incredible to connect to the cox outgoing server. (They tried a couple of incredible phones).
HTC support was fantastic. It took a very long time to get a support person on the phone but when I eventually spoke with someone they drilled deep into the problem and drug in many others on their team.HTC informed me that they are going to elevate this issue to the next level of support (which could take up to 14 days). Hopefully they can resolve this or I'll have to ditch the phone and head back to my old phone.if you use smtp.west.cox.net as your outgoing server keep an eye on this thread
I am trying to email some videos that I created on my Dinc. It takes forever and then says that it cannot send the video. Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it? Is it possible to plug the Dinc into my computer via the usb drive and drag and drop videos into email?

What email client is best for use with the Incredible?I'm using a G1 now, trying to move off an iPhone. The email situation doesn't seem very good.I have a yahoo ID, another POP mail, gmail, and a several IMAP accounts. How do folks access Yahoo mail? I've set it up with POP but the built in client doesn't handle it very well. The Gmail client is good for gmail but thats about it. I've tried some others like K-9 but it seems really buggy.Whats the best email client? Did HTC write their own for the Incredible? Is it good? Does it handle POP, IMAP, Gmail well? What email services can push email to the Incredible? I've been pretty spoiled getting my Yahoo mail instantly on the iPhone.
View 32 Replies View RelatedStarting today I haven't been getting my usual HTC email notifications and when I open the HTC mail client the messages are there, but I get an error message that says, "Alert, There is not enough free space. Please delete some messages and try again." I'm also not able to send photos via the photo app by email. The message sends but not the attachment, only a 1 kb attachment which isn't the photo at all. My phone storage is virtually empty and I always keep my inboxes clear. I've had this phone since launch with no real problems until now. I did update adw.launcher, launcher pro, smooth calendar and alarm clock yesterday if that helps. I called Verizon and they told me to do a factory reset. This shouldn't be happening two months later on a perfectly running phone, should it? I trust everyone on this forum over the Verizon tech support every day of the week.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my Incredible for almost a week now and I still havent brought myself to set up my Gmail to POP my work and Hotmail accounts. I just don't care for the Gmail system or client for Android OS.
I DO have a Gmail account (pretty much forced into it) but my main accounts are Hotmail and my own custom domain (non-exchange).
Yes, i'm coming from a Blackberry and have been spoiled with the best Push technology out there. No, i will not go back to Blackberry, so please spare the suggestions.
What i am wondering is if there is any 3rd party app out there that will Pop your email acct(s) and push the mail to your phone to either the stock HTC Mail app or it's own 3rd party client.
I've seen K-9 - but not sure if this is what i'm looking for.
I've seen Touchdown - but this appears to be only for Exchange.
Can either of these applications provide Push Email to Android or are there any others out there? If not, does anyone know of any on the horizon?
1. No sound notification. When I am texting someone back and forth, I have to back out of the thread or I do not get notified that they have responded. If I leave it open, I sit there forever thinking the person didn't respond only to wake up my phone and see that they actually did.... 10 minutes ago. Anyone else have this issue?
2. When I turn my phone on in the morning, I never get notified of new email. I have to open my mail and click refresh. I have tried letting it go thinking it would notify me at the update interval I have set, and that never happened. I went almost 2 hours until I had a new email notification, and that was because I sent something to myself to test it.
I have one gmail account, using the default gmail app. I also have a separate gmail account, using Exchange ActiveSync. Push does not work for either of my two gmail accounts.
1. default gmail. It just doesn't push. Today, i went thru the entire day without noticing the email. at 9PM today, I realized that i had missed an email sent at 8am. The only reason I knew this was because I checked my gmail on my computer. So I tried hitting refresh on my incredible's gmail. After a few seconds, the email showed up, 13 hours after it was originally sent. I kept on sending test emails to my gmail, and it just does not show up on my incredible until i hit refresh. this is supposed to be push email...what's going on..?
2. default "Mail" app - exchange activesync. At 9pm, i realized that I had missed 4 emails from throughout the day (a different gmail account). I went into the settings to make sure that the frequency was set to "as items arrive" and realized that it was set to Manual. I thought, aha, i should change this, and i should be fine. However, i realized that I kept on failing to change the setting.
I am trying to use the K9 application with Yahoomail on my Droid Incredible. Yahoomail does not work the way I like with the standard HTC email client. It does not save email to sent items when I reply something I really like and when I delete it does not put the items on the server into trash. I have a few questions about the K9 yahoomail setup with PUSH rather than Poll.
1. Does Yahoomail on K9 support PUSH without polling? I want to save battery and avoid polling plus I simply like push better.
2. If it does support PUSH for incoming what is the full setup and configuration to get this to work. I have tried it and it does not seem to download test email. But if I perform a Poll it does.
I am using imap.mail.yahoo.com 143. I also received an update of K9 today from the market that said it fixed the IMAP notification issues.
I'm trying to email a few pics and a video i took on my phone to myself and it just shows up in my outbox. How long does it take to email attachments like this? I even turned on wifi cause i thought it might require wifi like youtube does
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo after about a month of waiting, I finally received my Incredible yesterday. i've been screwing off at work most of today messing with the phone. So far, everything is going well and I'm getting used to the software and functionality. I do have one thing that has me stumped though. I setup my personal hotmail email and my work email on the phone and they are both under the "mail" icon on the main screen. I'm wondering if there is a way to separate them so that I will basically have 2 "mail" icons on the main screen.
