HTC Incredible :: Mabilo Wallpapers Running In Background / Get Rid Of It?
Jun 24, 2010
Has anyone downloaded Mabilo Wallpapers?
There is a service that enables rotating background wallpaper service.
It is unchecked, yet always running in my background.
I stop it, but every time I restart my phone it pops back into running services.
I'm not even using a wallpaper from the program.

I check my running services every once and awhile and often, Google Talk and Skype are running.
1. I have never run google talk
2. I installed Skype so I would have it when I need it but have restarted several times since then and forced it closed.
Why do these programs keep popping up and running? Are they using up memory/battery? Are they showing people that I am available for chatting/talking?

So I was wondering if this is happening to anyone else. If my time since last reboot is high(I am saying over 200hrs) and I use my camera it will stay running in the background. The only way I have found to cure it is to reboot.

It seems that with Froyo 2.2 i get a lot of new apps. problem is these new apps can't be shut off.
things like Skype, amazon MP3, City ID ... etc. my battery has dropped significantly since 2.2 and i think it's because of these many new apps running in the back ground. anyone know how to stop these apps from running?

I woke up this morning to a song playing from my phone that I made with xPiano about 2 weeks ago. I have no idea why this file was activated and when I looked at my task killer, most of my phone's memory had been used up but no programs were running in the background. I've never seen it get this low even when using 20 programs at a time. I've been using a mixture of apps that I've downloaded off of my computer and through the market. Is there any way that someone has access to my device and can look through all of my files/folders? Are there any known hacks/Trojans/viruses that do this?

The only choices allowed for lock screen wallpaper are from my photo album, once I went to a configured theme/scene for the home screen. How can I get the stock wallpaper I use for the theme/scene I have to also be the wallpaper for the lock screen? It seems stuck on the photo I used and the only choices offered in the menu are from the photo album I made.

As some of you know, live wallpapers are now up and running on Eclair 2.0.1. Of course this requires root, and as such, please keep all discussion on how to get it running in the following thread: http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/46759-release-live-wallpapers-2-0-1-a.html However, I'm posting this in the common area so that more people can see it. Also, I want to point out that these do run very smoothly, even at stock clock speeds. So, I don't know why Motorola wouldn't include this in our OTA update. It's certainly not for hardware reasons. Anyways.

I found that Qik has been modified as part of this update and was running in the background trying to sync vmail and other features. I saw it was active when viewing the Running Services list. There were 2 Qik apps running in the background that I had to FC then reopen the Qik program, sign in, go to Menu/Settings and redo some stuff in there.
Even when hitting the Exit button from Qik those 2 services would still run. The only way, I think, to NOT have them running is to completely sign out of your Qik account and leave it that way. If you want to use Qik then you'd have to sign in again each time. But once you do then those synchronizers run in the background even though you exit.
I noticed on both our EVO's that the battery usage changed quite a bit since yesterday's update which had me scouring through all the settings to see what was up. I discovered the Qik stuff as well as the Sprint Zone settings had be reset to all services/notifications 'on' so I had to switch them off as well.

I have an EVO and I have a problem with it. I downloaded the app Advanced Task Killer to take care of apps running in the background. However sometimes when I pull it up I find that things like Sprint Navigation, Qik, Voice Dialer, and sometimes others are running without me pulling them up. My question is, how do I keep these apps from doing this, because they kill my battery when they come on and I don't know it?

I am new to Android, previous Crack Berry addict here. On the BB I could load Google Maps (including Latitude) to keep my position updated on Google Latitude online (I use it when I go riding on my motorcycle to give my wife a way to check if I'm still moving (= not dead)). Even if I shut down Maps, I could elect to have Latitude run in the background, so it would still update my position. How do I do this in Android? When I 'exit' Maps, it shuts it down, including Latitude, as far as I can tell. Can Android run Latitude in the background, or do I need to keep Maps open all the time?

It seems I have multiple programs that will start on their own and run in the background. The main ones are mp3 store, voicemail, sprint nav, sprint tv and qik. I haven't even ran those programs yet, but they're still starting up.
I went so far as to download ATK and kill them...only to see them running again 5 minutes later. I tried to put all the settings the same as what I had on my hero, but these running in the background are driving me nuts for some reason.

I wrote some sh script to my device which has to run for a long period of time. I wanted to run the script on the background so i run the script with "&" but for some reason the script freeze whenever the device is getting into standby mode.I made some testing script (called testcode.sh) which simply count seconds to see what happen
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
i=0
while (); do
sleep 1
i=$((i+1))
echo -e "
It has been $i sec since the script started" done.I run the script from a terminal (./testcode.sh &) and saw the counter start counting, i then put the device to standby mode (short press on the power button) and waited for 10 min. after 10 min i open the device and saw that the counter still counts but the time was 3 min (180 sec).
So i guess the script kept running for 3 min then hang for some reason and resume when the device got off standby mode.Is there a way to make my script keep on running ?

What exactly can keep an app running in the background, regardless of what efforts your take to disable it?
If I don't use an app much and don't want it running, I normally freeze the app. If it is an app I tend to use a bit more frequently, I take other measures such as an app manager that allows me to be extremely precise as to how and when it should run such as on startup, battery level, configuration change, application change, etc. I really don't have the time to do this for every application.
With that said, I'm wondering what other methods, other than freezing and the other mentioned above, I can take to prevent an app from running in the background?
I will give you a perfect example...
There are some third-party apps I have downloaded that I know I will use occasionally. One example is CamScanner. For the life of me, I can't get this app to stop running in the background without extensive efforts mentioned above. No matter what I do, it just pops up again in running applications.
How can I ensure the app will not run in background while not resorting to freezing the app, which will prevent me from quickly accessing it when needed?

As stated I rooted my Eris and flashed two different roms with the same results. After selecting phone call and notification tones thru Mabilo ringtones the phone says I have selected silent ringtones. Any tips or suggestions on how to get ringtones. Easy and fast preferably. Don't want to have to download and clip from that.

We have an application that connects to a device and therefore needs to keep running in the background even when there are no Activities active. What is the recommended way to indicate that our application is still active and for it not to be killed automatically?
