Apple is releasing their app on the new Iphone, I would think android dev teams would create an app that can blow away any apple video chat app. i would love to see an app that allows video chat/call.

Apr 30, 2010I have a gmail and a Google Apps account. I have been able to set up the gmail account for both chat and mail. I have only been able to set the Google App up for mail. I cannot seem to get it to work in meebo or any other app. Anyone using a Google App as a secondary been able to set it up for chat/talk? If so, how or what app worked for you?

I think this is a cool feature as long as it only syncs with the names in your contact list, but not adding all your facebook friends to your phone, but I was wondering,
Does syncing all these pictures and e-mail with contacts (say you have 2-300) use up a lot of storage space?? Would it be better to not sync them for the sake of storage?

HTC Incredible :: DIY - Make A Front Facing DINC Camera For Video Chat
Aug 31, 2010Has anyone rigged up a device to convert the back camera into a front facing camera? I may experiment with this at some point. In the past I have simply sat in front of a mirror and pointed the camera into the mirror, this way I don't need to flip the phone back and forth to video chat.
However, I am envisioning a device (perhaps made of plastic or cardboard... business cards might even work) with angled mirrors on it, that can sit on top of the phone. One mirror would be facing the camera, the other would be facing you. The second mirror would mirror your image to the mirror facing the camera. Just a thought, I haven't played with this, so the image may be upside down, requiring another mirror. Attached is a paint mock up. I'll post my results when I get around to building one. I encourage others to try and improve upon a design. Could be a cool little project.

May 1, 2010The Facebook App from the marketplace is newer (it has an message box without needing a browser, etc.).... and when you are about to download it, it mentiones it will replace the Facebook for HTC (not the Facebook widget...the whole thing).....

Apr 30, 2010So, somehow I accidentally installed the Facebook app in the Android market, which overwrote my Facebook HTC app that came built in. Did I screw anything up? AppBrain told me to upgrade it (HTC version), and upgraded to market version. Is there a difference? Should I care? Is there a way to undo what I have done? Seems like AppBrain has a bug in there, so be warned! Or it is just me being clueless, I suppose.

Sep 28, 2010Just wondering if anyone else has come across this, my friend rang me the other day and asked why i was always logged in to fb chat 24 hours a day, dont be silly i said im not, he said you are now!!
I was using nimbuzz and have found out that if i have fb chat set to offline when i go in to nimbuzz it turns it on (as it should) but when i log out it keeps me showing as online on the main facebook website!!
The only way i can get it to stop doing this is to log out of nimbuzz and then log in to the main fb site and set chat to offline (a real pain!)
Does anyone use an app that lets you log out and keeps you logged out?
i have also tried palringo and Go!chat and they all do the same!
I dont want people chatting to me and thinking im ignoring them!

May 12, 2010Well, I seem to either A) have a problem or B) it's a problem just in general.I have Facebook installed, and there's obviously Facebook for HTC Sense. I want to sync my Facebook account and only that. I don't personally care to use the Sense inspired widgets because I like my streams separate.Anyway, I go into the Accounts menu in settings and removed the Facebook for Sense account and tried to add a new account, but whenever I click Facebook, it does absolutely nothing.I don't understand what's going on. If anyone has any clue, I'd love to hear it!

Mar 4, 2010With 1.5 I was able to go to the full facebook site and do the facebook chat thing at the bottom right (though it didn't often work very well). now with 2.1 i am having trouble with this. the little chat window/bar only seems to show up when i zoom all the way out, and then it kind of disappears when i try and touch it or zoom in.

I liked to use it for private chats with some friends rather than posting on the facebook thingy - dont want every one to know
The Andriod App doesn't seem to do this or have I just missed it?
If I haven't missed it and I am correct - anyone know why such a key feature would be on the iPhone App and not the Andriod App (doesn't seem fair)
Will we see it any time soon - as I don't fancy using another software App to do something the iPhone users can

The app and code works just fine when I try to login to the gmail xmpp instant messaging server. However I cant get myself to login to the facebook chat server.
I used this: [url] in my configuration so:
facebook chat server: chat.facebook.com port: 5222 service: chat.facebook.com I'm not entirely sure about this so I have tried without the service parameter: ConnectionConfiguration connConfig = new ConnectionConfiguration(host, Integer.parseInt(port)); username: I have tried both: <my fb username> and <my fb username>@chat.facebook.com password: <my fb password>
I have noticed the request for no ssl so just in case I added to the code: connConfig.setSASLAuthenticationEnabled(false);

Never seems to drop. However, in the last few days, I cannot get into Facebook chat. No problems with AIM or Yahoo, but I cannot connect to Facebook chat. I tried a few other apps, like Bloo and Go Talk, with the same problem with Facebook.

The only way to download this app is either by downloading "ASTRO" on the market. and download it straight from your SD Card

An app tha would work with your contact list, if you want to send a message to a contact it would tell you if person is Online on Facebook or WLM if not then send a text.
