I was wondering if the X10 can do the same as my last android Hero, which basically link the facebook info contact to my related phone contact, including the picture. I guess this wont need any hardware, but software. Has this improvement being asked or is it planned for future updates?

In my contacts list when I press the contacts button, I see each contact once. I have it set to only show contacts from my phone. When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.

The way I want it is, per row there will be a text and is followed by a right arrow button, so that the user can click on that button to edit the content of that row. If the user is using the keypad, by using the left and right buttons on the keypad, he should be able to select the textview or the Button in that particular row. I have seen this in a couple of apps. The way I see that working on those apps appear as if they are maintaining two lists in parallel.
The reason i felt it this way is, if I am on row 1 of the list and if I press the right key on the phone keypad, then the right arrow button will get highlighted and now if I use the down key or if I keep pressing the down key, then the focus will scroll through that arrow button only as if that is an another parallel list constructed. I don't know if that is a good way to do it. I tried many for getting this to work, but couldn't succeed.

I have a listview from an SQLDatabase using custom CursorAdaptor. I would like to go back to the activity that I used to create the items when I click on them in the listview. So that I can edit the entries. But nothing happen when I implement the OnItemClick method and the getItemId() on the CursorAdapter even though am not sure I am correct there. Here is my Code:
public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> adapview, View view, int position, long rowId) {
Cursor c = adapter.retrieveRow(rowId); // retrieve row from Database
Intent edit = new Intent(this,NewItem.class);
edit.putExtra(DBAdapter.KEY_ID, rowId);
edit.putExtra(DBAdapter.Title, c.getString(c.getColumnIndex(DBAdapter.Title)));
edit.putExtra(DBAdapter.DATE, c.getString(c.getColumnIndex(DBAdapter.DATE)));
startActivity(edit); } public long getItemId(int id){ return id; }

I've got the following main.xml:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <AbsoluteLayout
android:id="@+id/widget0" android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" >
<ListView android:id="@+id/listview" android:layout_width="315px"
android:layout_height="379px" android:layout_x="2px" android:layout_y="50px" >
</ListView> <TextView android:id="@+id/title" android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Select device:" android:textSize="17sp"
android:layout_x="-2px" android:layout_y="1px" >
</TextView> <Button android:id="@+id/refresh" android:layout_width="109px"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Refresh" android:layout_x="209px android:layout_y="7px" >
</Button> </AbsoluteLayout>
The main class does nothing but drawing the layout. I've got the following class and layout for the listitems:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<TextView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:padding="10dp" android:textSize="16sp" >
</TextView> package com.android.bluetoothp2p;
import android.app.ListActivity; import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.View; import android.widget.AdapterView;
import android.widget.AdapterView.OnItemClickListener; import android.widget.ArrayAdapter;
import android.widget.ListView; import android.widget.TextView;
import android.widget.Toast;
public class BTListView extends ListActivity {
@Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, R.layout.list_item, COUNTRIES)); ListView lv = getListView();
lv.setTextFilterEnabled(true); lv.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() {
public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) {
// When clicked, show a toast with the TextView text
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), ((TextView) view).getText(),
Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } } ); }
Countries is just an array with a list of countries, some dummy values. Now, how do I make the list items of the BTListView class go in the ListView (with @+id/listview) of the main class? Now my list works, but it isn't clickable anymore. This is the code:
ListView lv = getListView(); lv.setTextFilterEnabled(true);
lv.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() {
public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) {
// When clicked, show a toast with the TextView text
Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "lolwat", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();
} } );

Basically I am trying to recreate the default contact screen when you click on "+" button another row of Phone number added to the list. Right now I have an ImageView as the "+" button and a ListView to contain the list of phone numbers. The problem is that the ListView doesn't expand when I add more item into the list. I could build the same look with LinearLayout but how can I save all those numbers that way? Below is the layout of the item that will be inflate with custom Adapter:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TableLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="60px"
android:stretchColumns="1" android:background="#FFFFFFFF"
android:gravity="center_vertical"> <TableRow>
<Button android:id="@+id/type" android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:paddingLeft="10dp"
android:text="Home" /> <RelativeLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:paddingLeft="10dp"
android:paddingRight="10dp" >
<EditText android:id="@+id/value" android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentTop="true"
android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:text="" android:hint="Name"
android:lines="1" android:textSize="10pt" android:typeface="sans"
android:textColor="#FF000000" android:gravity="left" /
</RelativeLayout> <ImageView android:id="@+id/del"
android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_alignParentTop="true"
android:paddingRight="14dp" android:src="@android:drawable/ic_delete" />
</TableRow> </TableLayout>
This is the ListView portion.
<ListView android:id="@+id/phoneList" android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:background="#FFFFFFFF"
android:scrollbars="none" />

I am trying to overwrite the default backgroud color of List item which is holding the focus in the ListView. As you can see, in Android Setting Menu, when you scroll through the ListView, the focused ListItem has a red backgroud to highlight its focus. Does any way to change the default behavior by highlighting it with other color or just a bottom red line under this Item.

I have HTC Magic, on Rogers, in Canada. Firmware version 1.5
So my contact list now seems full, if I add a contact, it will be recognize by the caller ID, but it will not appear in my contact list. I tried restarting the phone. I figure this must be because the SIM card is full, is there a way to save your contacts on your phone? If anyone has any idea how to get the french autocorrect with the qwerty keyboard, that would be amazing as well. Rogers said they'd "look into it".

I am new to android, and ended up (have to) ask a question here. Let's make it simple, I simply want to make my own TextView-like (MyView extends View), This is my code:
public class MyView extends View { private Paint mPaint;
private String mText; private Bitmap mBitmap1; private Bitmap mBitmap2;
public MyView(Context context) { super(context); initView(); }
public MyView(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs);
initView(); } private final void initView() { mPaint = new Paint(); }
public void setText(String text) { mText = text; }
@Override protected void onMeasure(int widthMeasureSpec, int heightMeasureSpec) {
int measuredWidth = measureWidth(widthMeasureSpec);
if (mBitmap1 == null) initBitmap1(measuredWidth);
int measuredHeight = measureHeight(heightMeasureSpec);
setMeasuredDimension(measuredWidth, measuredHeight);
}
private void initBitmap1(int measuredWidth) {
mBitmap1 = Bitmap.createBitmap(measuredWidth, Fonts.getHeight(), Bitmap.Config.ARGB_4444);
Canvas canvas = new Canvas(mBitmap1 ); canvas.drawText(mText, 0, 0, mPaint);
} private void initBitmap2() {
mBitmap2 = Bitmap.createBitmap(30, Fonts.getHeight(), Bitmap.Config.ARGB_4444);
Canvas canvas = new Canvas(mBitmap2); canvas.drawText(mText, 0, 0, mPaint);
} private int measureWidth(int widthMeasureSpec) {
int measuredWidth = 0; int specWidthMode = MeasureSpec.getMode(widthMeasureSpec);
int specWidthSize = MeasureSpec.getSize(widthMeasureSpec);
if (specWidthMode == MeasureSpec.EXACTLY) { measuredWidth = specWidthSize;
} else { measuredWidth = getWidth(); if (specWidthMode == MeasureSpec.AT_MOST) {
measuredWidth = Math.min(measuredWidth, specWidthSize);
} } return measuredWidth; }
private int measureHeight(int heightMeasureSpec) {
int measuredHeight = 0; int specHeightMode = MeasureSpec.getMode(heightMeasureSpec);
int specHeightSize = MeasureSpec.getSize(heightMeasureSpec);
if (specHeightMode == MeasureSpec.EXACTLY) { measuredHeight = specHeightSize;
} else { measuredHeight = 80; if (specHeightMode == MeasureSpec.AT_MOST) {
measuredHeight = Math.min(measuredHeight, specHeightSize);
} } return measuredHeight;
} @Override protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) {
super.onDraw(canvas); canvas.drawBitmap(mBitmap1, getLeft(), 0, mPaint);
initBitmap2(); canvas.drawBitmap(mBitmap2, getLeft(), 30, mPaint);
} }
In my code, I populate some numbers of MyView (let's say 20) in a ListActivity. My question is why mBitmap1's order changes randomly while i scroll (up-down) fastly (if I scroll slowly, this problem not occur)? mBitmap2 stays where those should be.

The Contacts app shows a button on the side of the screen that acts as a little thumb to allow you to quickly scroll the big list. I have a very long list that would benefit from this navigation behavior, but can't find any documentation as to how to enable it.
Is it a behavior that's built into the SDK, or must I write it myself?

I got my droid eris recently and I am loving this thing but yesterday I sat down to slowly enter all my contacts into the eris and I noticed something. There is no contact list, am I wrong? Because I have spent about 30 minutes trying to figure out where the contacts are on this thing and its just not there. By contacts I don't mean something complicated, I mean literally a button on or in the phone that will take me to a window which will allow me to enter a name and a number, and then will show me in alphabetical order, simple as that. I cant find it.

It seems to pull in all my Google contacts not just my My Contacts but All Contacts (any one I have ever replied to) and all of my Facebook contacts, home numbers, I mean everyone. They do not show when I go to my people icon only in New Message Add Contact function.
