HTC Incredible : How To Store Mp3 Files Use For Ringtones?

Apr 29, 2010

How or where should I store mp3 files that I want to use as ringtones, but don't necessarily want in my music library? I know you use the Music app to set a ringtone, but it only shows the files in the MP3 folder... I added a "Ringtones" folder, but I guess it's not reading it...

Can anybody advice what is the recommended directory to store files generated by your application: audio files, video files or some images.

If the phone contains SD card, it is clear that files should be saved there, but if there is no any external storage. where would you recommend to save to?

Motorola Droid :: Where Do You Store All Your Ringtones Etc

Jan 18, 2010

I got my Droid finally on Saturday and I've been putzing around a lot. One nice surprise was that after getting the Mabilo ringtone app (where all the tones are free etc) I found a ton of the ones I've used in the past and had set up to copy over from my computer.

Now I know Mabilo keeps its own ringtone directory, and I copied over my own folder "Ringtones" to the root directory.

I have Astro file manager installed. Can you use this to move ringtones from certain folders to others or do I have to do this manually via mounting the MicroSD? I had Quark Ringtone app installed for a bit and there's only one tone in there I want before I uninstall can you move files via Astro?

Android :: Best Way To Make And Store Ringtones On Phone

May 7, 2010

I going to want to make my own ringtones soon, and I am wondering what everyone recommends is the BEST or better way for me to get my music onto my phone and storing it. For example, is it better to put music on my phone with the music app, clip and cut my ringtone in that app and store my tones that way.

Or is it better to clip up a song on my computer using something like Audacity and then send it to my phone via Bluetooth or USB Tethered? And if I did do it that way, where would I store it on the phone, folder, some in depth storage preference? I am a new Smart phone user, so I am looking for the best way to store my ring tones on the phone without making it bogged down and the best way to make my tone and transferring it to my phone.

HTC Desire :: Getting My Own Mp3 Files To Be Ringtones

Sep 9, 2010

New here. Be gentle with me. I've just got a Desire on O2 (it's lovely) but I'm having problems getting my own mp3 files to be ringtones. I've followed all of the different instructions on here about which folders to store them in but it just won't work! If I browse to one of the files with Astro and long press on the file, a menu appears. Under Music Options, the Play and Set As Ringtone functions are not available. The files are currently on the SD card under mediaaudio ingtones. I have tried setting the files as ringtones under the Personalize option as well as the Notifications and Phone Ringtone options.

General :: Nexus 7 Tablet - WAV Files As Notifications And Ringtones?

Oct 25, 2013

When I got our Nexus7 tablet over a year ago, I was happy to find that it would accept WAV files as notifications and ring tones since I had a number of custom WAV files that I wanted to use for different needs.

In addition I used SmartVoiceRecorder to generate a custom voice ringtone for my wife (who has difficulty hearing and finds it easier to hear alerts recorded with my voice) and it worked fine using the WAV files that it generates.

Over the last couple of days, her phone stopped ringing. Her settings showed that the ringtone was set to "none"

Using SmartVoiceRecorder to reset my recordings to "ringtone" didn't work either. Copying the WAV files to the ringtone directory and selecting them using ES File Explorer also didn't work.

None of the above actions triggered any warning or complaint, but the current ringtone was reset to "none" after each attempt without warning or notification.

I checked the SMS message tone and found that it had also reset to none.

Not sure if there is an android app to convert WAV to an android acceptable ringtone, but Mobile Media Converter - The Audio and Video converter you want. is a nice little PC converter that creates mobile compatible audio files... I tried AMR and OGG outputs, and both worked as Nexus ringtones.

Android :: Store Audio Files For Use In Application?

Oct 14, 2010

I've created an application which uses around 15 small audio files. Right now I'm using mp3 files and each is around 200KB. These files are stored in my res/raw directory. I'm using SoundPool class to play the files in my application. I'm hoping to put this application on the android market place. Can one of you suggest what is the best way to store so many audio files? Will my application be scalable? Is wav or ogg format better approach instead of mp3? Please let me know.

Motorola Droid X :: Way To Store Files On Internal Memory

Sep 7, 2010

This has been bugging me but I think it's just the way it is. In the DX we have 8gb of internal memory with an additional external 16gb (as shipped) on the SD card. I can store my music, pictures, etc. on the SD card but cannot access the internal 8gb. Besides storing apps, what good is that internal memory? Is there a way to store files on it. I read in the Applications and Games forums that other phone owners complain that some apps are too big to keep on their internal memory, but it seems to me that with the DX, this is no issue because we can't use that memory anyway. Why would a DX owner care about storing apps in the SD card (with 2.2) when we have tons of unused memory internally? Is there a way to store files on the internal memory which I'm missing?

Android :: Use Multiple Files To Store String Values

Jun 23, 2009

Is it possible to store strings values in multiple files? Eg, strings.xml, strings1.xml, strings2.xml etc.

I do not mean localized versions of the same file - those multiple files should contain different string ids in the same language, so in code they would be refered like: R.strings1.my_string_1 R.strings1.my_string_2 R.strings2.my_string_3 etc. So, "strings1", "strings2", "strings3" would be a kind of namespace for them.

Or, another way is to have multiple R classes inside one project, which would deal with different stringsXXX.xml files.

Like, currently we can refer to "my.name.space.R" and to "android.R" at the same time, so is it possible to have: android.R my.name.space1.R my.name.space2.R etc

At the same time inside single project?

I think my SD card is giving me problems... every once in a while it will say I have no space on the SD Card (It also says I have like 7gb left open when I pull it up online), and won't let me save videos or pictures I'm taking.
