I have been getting some lag on my droid incredible. Does anyone else get lag if they switch the screens with the optical trackball? If I switch homescreens back and forth with the trackball I get glitchy lag. Also the app tray is laggy. I also notice lag in the game doodle jump. Whats causing this.

I am still experiencing phantom swipes (only to the left) on my Incredible. Putting a piece of duck tape over the optical track pad seems to resolve it. This has been ongoing for about a month and a half. I have a warantee but really don't want to wait for my new phone/get one of the newer LCD phones. I have been able to recreate the phantom swipe by moving the phone under different light sources. This is so annoying.
I have tried everything, there isn't dust on my track pad and its not a matter of grounding. I really hope this is not a hardware issue. I got my Inc by pre-order (original with AMOLED). I have been able to toy with some of the newer Inc builds (with the LCD screen). I have noticed the trackpad is more flush with the unit, this leads me to believe they reworked the hardware to fix an issue. Anyone else with the original AMOLED Inc builds experiencing this?
I have used my HTC desire for a month now and I am very pleased with this ultimate android phone.I have only one issue with the phone/system though. The optical trackball is hyper sensitive. Whenever I use the phone ouside and the sun is shining, then the track ball activates due to the light and the phone/system uses the input to always scroll to the right. This is pretty annoying because this means that I cannot use the phone outside. Resently I also discovered that a small lamp next to my couch can activate the trackball as well.Does anyone know if its possible to disable the optical trackball or am I the only one who has this problem? If so then maybe it's a hardware error and I will try to return the phone.As a temporarily solution I have placed a sticker on top of the track ball.

I have factory reset, uninstalled everything, still the same. If I clear the cookies, cache, etc, and remove my homepage of google.co.uk, it seems fine. The T-Mobile default homepage works fine if I type a capital A. If I set Google.co.uk, and type a capital A, it force closes.
Hmm....and after a bit of digging....it only seems to do it on Google Mobile sites. Classic Google.com and .co.uk are fine. Google force loses, as does .com/m.
Anyone have the same issue, or know whats causing this?
I have read the topic about supporting multiple screen size as well as different DPI. I am wondering which of the following way is better in supporting multiple screens:
1. Have different layout for different screen size (stretch the images)
2. Have different set of graphics for different screen (use the same layout)
3. Have different set of graphics and different set of layout for each of the screen
Which way is the easiest? And which way is the most optical way to design? Or is there another better way?
In a number of questions (like this one) I have been looking into how to "change screens" in my app. I have a "header" on top, with 4 buttons. Each button is meant to replace the "content" (ie change screen):

When I click a Menu button, I run the following code:

As you can see, the startActivity is executed. Now, if I do not specify "launchMode" for the Activity that means that launchMode = normal. If launchMode == normal that means that the Activity will be re-created each and every time I navigate using the top header buttons, and that means that all data entered in "form elements" are gone (or at least hidden).
So, I found the launchMode "singleTask" that sounded sort of nice. If I add that launchMode to my Activity, it will not be re-created when I navigate with the buttons, thus keeping state. Great! Well, until I read this:
As noted above, there's never more than one instance of a "singleTask" or "singleInstance" activity, so that instance is expected to handle all new intents.
I found out that the sentence mean that there can be only one Activity that has the launchMode set to "singleTask" - if I have more than one it wont work (no compiler error though).
This means that I can only "keep the state" for one Activity, when switching back and forth (navigating) between my screens!
If I am using LauncherPro and want to switch back to the original home screens..........how would I go about doing that? I don't want to uninstall.......just switch back for a bit.
Are the widgets sizeable and customizable in LauncherPro?
I've been getting this error near constantly the past day whenever I hit the Home button, and when the ui is working it's extremely slow to switch between screens. I can get the error near 100% of the time by opening an applicatio, then hitting the Home button. Then HTC Sense closes, sits at "loading" for a bit, then the phone is back to normal, albeit slow, till the next time I hit Home.
I had been running a live wallpaper of the Earth rotating in the background, and notice it rotates fine for about 3 seconds, pauses, then starts again, so something is eating up the processor I'd think?
I've uninstalled all recently installed applications. Stopped the live wallpaper. Stopped Locale. Stopped background sync, then turned it back on. Installed a task killer to see if there's a common element (none). Tried leaving the battery out for a minute.
I got my Incredible on Tuesday and have been enjoying the heck out of it.The weird thing is the optical joystick came off. I noticed a hole where the joystick used to be.I called Verizon tech support last night and they are sending me a replacement phone which I should get on Monday. Has anyone else experienced this?

If I manage to open an app, the selection keeps going to the right. For example, if I am in a text message and am trying to move the cursor to a previous work to correct spelling, the cursor keeps moving the right and down on its own. Is there a way to calibrate the optical trackpad? Anyone else having this issue?

It seems the fast I move my finger across it, the slower it moves, but the slower I move my finger the faster in moves. Is there a setting I can adjust? I compare this to choosing how fast the cursor on your PC moves when you move your mouse.

View 7 Replies View RelatedLast night I was hammering out some emails while watching TV. The only light in the room was from the Inc and the TV. I could not get the track pad to register my motions. I attempted to angle the phone to face the TV but still got no response.
I'm thinking this is a design failure. An optical device shouldn't be on a phone if it can't be used in the dark. Seems to me that the light sensor would affect the track pad's sensitivity based on the ambient light.
Is there any work around to getting the track pad to work in the dark?
Sometimes I feel as if my optical track pad moves and responds too slowly. Does anyone know if there's a way to adjust track pad movement?

View 49 Replies View RelatedThis should go in the battery section perhaps but I'm in a hurry and wanna easily find it when I get home from work. My battery life is awful. I send txt messages and thats about it and my battery drains in a hurry. On days that I 'play' with the phone and use the hell out of it, it drains in fast forward. I read a couple pages of the battery life post and tips and tricks section and probably need to shut down or limit programs running on my phone. I have the power control widget on screen and most of the time have everything off. If surfing the web or whatever I turn wi-fi on, then off after use. If I do nothing with the phone for awhile then switch to task manager it will pull up a list of a dozen or so things running..thought this thing was supposed to kill these apps. Do I just go into each app or widget and find some options to limit everything? What about juice defender (is that right?)? Does it help? Seems like my phone is on the charger more often than not. I'm going to pick up a new battery but would like to learn how max battery life before I do.
