GPS was not giving turn by turn directions at all when I was in my car. I realized that the cause of this issue was due to the fact that I recently paired my phone with my cars blue tooth. I turned it off and could hear the GPS. Is there any way to have the GPS go through the speakers or will I have to turn off Blue Tooth everytime?

Is anything known about how an app may tap turn-by-turn directions generated by Android 2.0's Google Maps Navigation? Until now we were prohibited by the Google Maps ToS to offer turn-by-turn directions in our apps. Clearly it would be attractive to integrate some of that functionality in other mobile applications, or to be able to exert some level of control over Google Maps Navigation from one's app. In other words, are there any supplementary APIs for use with Google Maps Navigation?Or does Google Maps Navigation run as a Service such that at least one need not switch between applications to still get spoken turn-by-turn directions even while one's app Activity is running in the foreground?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe'll this is a deal breaker for me, after being pretty happy with the RUU update and the speed improvement it brought to the stock music player.When using the turn by turn navigation, every time the voice comes in the player puts itself on pause.After the instruction is over it remains paused instead of resuming.Then I have to manually hit play again to resume playback.This is a big deal while driving since I don't want to be fidgeting with my phone every couple seconds.This was not an issue with 2.1 , since as soon as the turn by turn instruction was gone the music would automatically resume.
View 11 Replies View Relatedin Virtuous Rom 3.1 the Google Maps turn-by-turn navigation voice doesn't work...instead of speaking the directions, the voice rambles on about XML versions and a random website in a slow-motion voice. I'm shocked that I can't find any information at all about this on XDA or here.Does this happen to anyone else who uses Virtuous Rom 3.1? I tried to contact RMK via XDA PM but he hasn't responded yet, sent last night. I would really like a fix for this, Google maps navigation is fantastic.

Some of you know that asking google http://maps.google.com/maps/nav will give directions in Json + a Polyline encoded form.What i would like to know is, where is the Terms of Service regarding this functionality? It is for Google internal use or not? There's also the KML which gives similar informations. Please note that it is NOT for real time driving directions but a path to be drawn from a point to another and your position NOT refreshed in real time and of course it is for an app downloadable free of charge.

However, there seems I have had 2 instances where my phone spontaneously reboots if I have doing GPS turn by turn directions and talking on the phone at the same time while using a bluetooth headset. I play with very popular apps I downloaded from Market; and I am pretty good about not leaving them running in the background. So, I'm thinking theres a very specific scenario that causes the phone to reboot. I doubt there a hardware defect; as it only happens with the above scenario. I am curious if there are other people who push their phones to do simultaneous hardware features at the same time and cause it to reboot.I guess its possible that there may be a 3rd party app that's silently running in the background which might be the cause; however, no matter what, an app shouldnt have the ability to crash the entire OS.

Now whenever i restart my phone the bluetooth is on and it will not turn off. I can tell it to turn off and the options dim out but when i looked at my battery usage 3 hours later it showed my bluetooth using 23% of my battery and I never use bluetooth! Does anybody have any info on how to fix this?? I checked a few other topics on it and people say even doing a hard reset doesn't fix it...

View 37 Replies View RelatedI just got a new 2014 Chevy Sonic and I have paired my Huawei H881C to the car stereo. Once for "Phone" and once for "Music". Right now I can play the car radio music OR press a button on the car stereo that says "Media" and select "Bluetooth" which turns the car radio music off and lets the GPS voice directions come through the car stereo speakers but no music. I can't have both, the car radio music and GPS voice directions at the same time. Seems like the music volume should mute while the GPS directions are given then return to the previous volume and continue playing the music I had going. Instead it's "either or". ?

I believe I want the Fascinate but this issue with Google Maps navigation is an issue since turn-by-turn navigation is a big feature for me. Does Bing Maps also offer turn-by-turn navigation as well? Is it voice assisted? Personally I don't care if it's Bing or Google but I don't want the Verizon one since it will require a monthly fee. As long as Bing Maps offers the same functionality as Google Maps, I'm fine.

I have done 6 factory resets since getting it and after the last two I have added no apps to it. I have plenty of memory left but the message still pops up and GMAIL sent and Trash is empty, I have 29mb in use out of 7486mb in Gmail in use and i am about to walk into a Verizon store and beat someone senseless with this piece of crap phone. Has anyones GPS been out of wack lately? On the Belt parkway west in Brooklyn right after the Gowanas Canal - specifically while driving the GPS thinks I'm on the streets rather than the highway? As in it thinks I'm on 3rd avenue but I'm actually on the highway. It keeps telling me to turn left and right when I'm on the highway going straight. Everything else works right but the GPS has been a little off.

A not so helpful pop up help box I selected on the navigation screen tells me I can pair my BlueAnt ST3 with the Sprint Nav but doesn't tell me how. I searched google and the forum with no luck. My phone is already paired with the BlueAnt for calls. Does any one know how to get the Sprint Nav audio to the BlueAnt instead of the phone speaker?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Desire, just upgraded to 2.2 (seems a bit slower) and I would like to have the navigation instructions routed through bluetooth to come through the car stereo speakers. Now I know this can be done with A2DP but I was wondering if it can be made to work over HFP?
Over A2DP it works but it means you cannot listen to any of the in-car sources like CD or radio as you have to have it permanently switched to bluetooth audio to hear the instructions. If it was over HFP, the car stereo would mute whatever source you were listening to so it could play the navigation instruction. Is there a way to make this work, or an app to download?
I keep my GPS off usually to save the battery, but hate that I have to turn it on every time when I want to use the navigation.
Is there any way I can set it so that it turns on automatically when I am using navigation?

When I try to use the Navigation, sometimes it speaks the turn by turn directions but sometimes it just displays them on the screen. I'm not sure why the sound doesn't work all the time and I can't find a setting to turn it on. Any ideas?
