View 7 Repliesok, so I put the PB31IMG file on my sdcard, and the dinc_ota. I changed dinc_ota to update. (I did not name the file update.zip.zip) I powered down, I entered bootloader, and it loaded the PB31IMG and whatever. then I hit volume down and selected recovery. this brought me to clockwork recovery. I noticed the isntructions said to boot into STOCK recovery. well, I like a dummy ignored that and tried to apply the update.zip thru clockwork.
This is what I got:
CODE:.......................
So, is this because I tried doing it through clockwork recovery? is it because I didn't apply the first OTA update we got? what does that mean exactly anyways? is it saying I need to install the leaked froyo ROM, and then update the radio? How do I boot into stock recovery and not clockworks recovery? does this count as applying the update.zip once, meening if I do it again I'll brick my phone? should I sell this thing and get a samsung flip phone because I'm too stupid to own a Dinc?
I still cant get into recovery. Is there anything else I can do that hasn't been mentioned anywhere? Is there a %100 root method coming? Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
View 19 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get rid of clockwork recovery mode so that I can recieve the OTA. I've tried the process from the how to unroot by downgrading but when I boot into HBOOT it just goes to the regular screen. My phone is stock except for superuser permissions. I have the stock 1.00.03.04.06 radio. So how do I go about removing clockwork recovery mode so I can update via OTA.

View 12 Replies View RelatedSo I decided to root my HTC Incredible today. I followed the instructions on youtube and Cyanogen to do the rooting. I managed to root it, and then it told me to update my radio (baseband) to the latest one. So I did that. It installed fine, seems to have reformated my phone, which wasn't a big issue, but somehow it unrooted or deleted my rooted files...no big deal there, either, right? Well, when I go to re-root the phone, I am now unable to log in to Recovery Mode. I will press the power button+vol down and it will go to the HBOOT window. I'll then choose Recovery, press power, and it simply goes to the Fastboot option and from there I can go back to my HBOOT or all the other options on the Hboot window. I can not, however, get it in to Recovery Mode with the little red ! mark, etc. so that I can root the phone.I've tried using ADB in shell (on my computer) and I get permission denied on everything, so I am assuming it's because the phone is no longer rooted. However, the OS boots up fine, and the baseband reads 2.05.00.06.11 which I am assuming is correct ? Though my firmware reads as 2.1-update1. I've been trying to figure this out for hours I've tried Revoked 3 and it will take over the phone, reboot it, go to bootloader, load to the Android OS while on my PC Revoked says Waiting for Reboot and then it does nothing.Again, thanks for any help you can give me!
View 23 Replies View RelatedI was trying to put my Inc into recovery mode on 2.2 and it vibrated 3 times and then completely died, lol, like the charging light went out and I couldn't get it to turn back on, did a battery pull and all was well, but tried it again and the same thing happened, any clue how to go into recovery? Also I want to reset my phone to default, is there another way instead of going thru recovery?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been reading these forums all day and I gather that I need the stock 2.1 recovery in order to get OTA 2.2. I currently have stock 2.1 with Unrevoked3 (and clockwork).
I searched and nothing came up in this forum for "stock 2.1 recovery". I don't know what I'm doing. Where can I get this file? Would greatly appreciate help
I should also clarify that I don't care about losing root, has caused me nothing but confusion
Some how I did this before I used unrevoked 3 to root and flash my incredible then installed 2.2 then I made it stock but now I tried it on my incredible again and it failed it stopped the process but when I go to the boot loader and then to recovery it just goes back to the boot loader can any one help me would trying to unrevoked it again would it fix the recovery and install clockwork mod. Thanks BTW this is the x2 radio update so the standard pb31img zip won't work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is the only repeatable way on my phone. This is assuming you have the required files and SDK kit already set up and are just having trouble entering recovery mode.
Go to your C:/sdk/usb_driver folder and open android_winusb.inf.
As other instructions have mentioned, copy and paste these lines twice total - once under [Google.NTx86] and once under [Google.NTamd64]:
;HTC Incredible
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USBVID_0BB4&PID_0C9E
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USBVID_0BB4&PID_0C9E&MI_01
%SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USBVID_0BB4&PID_0C94
Start with your phone off but unplugged. Boot the phone while holding the optical trackpad. Go to device manager at your computer. You should see the ADB interface listed near the top of your devices. Look back at your phone, hit the volume down arrow to select recovery and then hit the power button.
Now here, what normally happened for me (and those having trouble accessing recovery mode) is that the ADB would dissapear from device manager after 20 seconds and something called Android 1.0 would pop up. The computer could not access the proper drivers for this and hence ADB can not communicate with the phone. Once you see this Anroid 1.0 pop up in device manager, right click on it and hit update drivers. Don't do automatic update - point your computer to C:/sdk/usb_driver folder. Hit okay and it should automatically recognize the proper driver and install it. You know you are golden when Android 1.0 is replaced with something like HTC Bootloader Interface in device manager.
In short, you are:
1. Loading the phone into recovery mode without drivers installed to force the error to pop up in device manager
2. Install the modified driver .inf file WHILE THE PHONE IS IN THE "RECOVERY" MODE
Next, unplug the phone and pull the battery. Replace the battery and boot the phone as if you were going to use it normally. Once you reach your home screen, power down the phone normally - DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY. Once the phone has shut down, power it up again as if you were going to use it normally. However, this time in the split second between the HTC Quietly Brilliant logo and the Verizon logo, pull the battery.
This was the critical step for me. If I pull the battery during the first HTC logo or after the phone boots, recovery mode will never be activated. IF I wait until that second between the HTC Quietly Brilliant Logo and the Verizon logo, it works 100% of the time. I suspect this is because the phone is detecting a failed boot and somehow enabling recovery mode.
After pulling the battery, start the phone while holding down the optical trackpad. Hit the volume down, and select recovery. This time, your computer will recognize the drivers after a few seconds and won't give you the Android 1.0 error.
You should not be able to push the files and payload and achieve root.
In summation, there are two absolutely critical components that are neccessary for me - installing the modified drivers through device manager while the phone is in the bootloader, and only trying to launch recovery mode after pulling the battery to simulate boot failure in between the Quietly Brilliant and Verizon logos.
I'd be interested to know if this is just my device or if this works for others having trouble achieving recovery mode as well.
I had to restore factory settings to my device because Gmail stopped working and since you cannot remove and add the account back I needed to reset the device. I thought Appbrain had an app recovery option because when I downloaded it again it was completely void of the apps I had previously downloaded. Is that the case?
Also, one would think that a paid app (homerun battle) would save your progress but alas it has started me off from the beginning (even though it still recalled my players name).
I have tried 3 different pcs and 1 iMac to install Clockwork Recovery using Unrevoked2. With each pc it says there is a communication failure after rebooting the phone, and with my iMac it just sits at waiting for reboot. Is there any alternative way to install the recovery because I really want to install some custom roms
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my INC Rooted and have the old version of ClockworkMOD Recovery since I did it.
I believe i know how to do it,
1) Download http://koush.tandtgaming.com/recover....5.0.1-inc.img
2) DO NOT PLUG IN YOUR PHONE
3) Run unrEVOked v3.0
4) Under FILE choose CUSTOM RECOVERY
5) Point to the img file
6) Plug in your phone
What does the new version do that the old one doesnt?
Is it in my best interest to do it?
How do I do it with v3.1?
Had an issue with Rom Manager. Just installed it on my rooted S-off with Cyanogenmod 6 dinc and it is not recognizing that I already have Clockworkmod recovery flashed. It is telling me to do it again, however I have read in a few spots that with S-on it is just fine allow Rom Manager to reflash it but with S-off this could be an issue. If I allow Rom Manager to reflash clockworkmod when I already have it on my phone will it be a problem?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I've been rooted for about 2 weeks now on my new incredible and I have not had any problems so this is just a curiosity question. There is a zip on the base of my SD card named update.zip. Now i think I narrowed it down to the flash clockwork recovery in Rom manager and I was wondering if this file should be there at all times or is i the latest clockwork that keeps getting placed when I activate that flash that doesn't need to be there?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new droid incredible (my first phone besides the crapy razer) and my friends told me to root it. I used the guides on these fourms, rooted it, and apparently it worked (I have superuser and can download root only apps). The only problem is that everywere, it says recover once you root. Every time I've tried this, it just leads to a black screen with two white lights on each side. I've tried everything to fix it; I've looked at multiple threads and youtube vids, I even found an app that should sent it into Clockwork recovery mod, but even then it still had the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this, or should I just try un-rooting it (maby I did something wrong and it dosent say) and re-rooting it again?
View 31 Replies View RelatedI am having so much trouble but now I have gotten to the point where it tells me the upgrade went well and is done, but now when I try and get into recovery it just goes back to the Bootloader screen and won't boot into recovery even with the adb reboot recovery command.I tried to run the unrevoked again and it passed but when it does the last reboot to recovery is sits for a second the phone does nothing and then says done.I would have assumed it would have booted to the recovery console at that point?

View 1 Replies View RelatedYou can do a backup from within Rom Manager, Also from within Recovery. But if I do a backup in Rom Manager, it wont help me if I am in a bootloop right? Because I have no way to enter Rom Manager. So I do backups within Recovery also. But I don't see a way to name, or label them. Does anyone have a good system worked out other than keeping notes on a notepad?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI unrooted my incredible, but in Hboot today I tried to go to Recovery, and I ended up with a Red Triangle with Red ! through it (obviously an error message). View 4 Replies View RelatedSo, the consensus is that you need "stock recovery" on the inc in order to get the new ota.....
I understand that it will take be back to stock, I just need to know the process works....can someone run through what I need to do real quick?
Right now, I am rooted with unrevoked3 and have updated the radio to 2.05...nothing else.....I plan on running forever then doing a stock revovery, put i dont know what that entails...thanks for the help.
I'm wondering if I have stock recovery and if I will receive the OTA.
Right now looking at the HBOOT screen it says
S-ON
HBOOT-0.79.0000
Radio- 1.00.03.04.06
May 14,2010
Is this stock?
My wifes phone needs to go back. It was rooted, with S-Off. I ran S-On, but can not load a stock recovery. I tried using the one posted by adrynalyne, which I think was for 2.1, and it would do it check but not ask me to update.
I then opened the leaked ruu and took the recovery image and created a new PB31IMG file (with the txt file from adrynalyne's recovery) but again it didn't take.
Is it because I have S-On back on? If so, what are the steps to get this thing back to stock so I can send it back? I have been trying different things for the last 4+ hours and not sure what else to do.
I have to return my phone to Asurion. I had it rooted, s-off, with the stock recovery flashed back so could receive the OTA upgrade.
Today I put back clockworkmod recovery and applied s-on. I downloaded and tried to flash the stock rom according to the 10 minute video ( [VIDEO] HowTo UnRoot Incredible by downgrading ) put the recovery wouldn't accept it, I guessed cause I was s-on. I then applied s-off again and flashed the stock rom. The stock rom also put back the stock recovery but I was still s-off. I had to reflash CWM to apply s-on.
Now I am almost there except I have the CWM recovery. Not good I downloaded a couple stock recovery files but they will not flash while I am s-on.
I was advised and given a link to download a 2.1 RUU file that is an .exe. I was told to install HTC sync and run it. Either it won't run or I am not doing the right thing with it. I tried it on 2 computers- opened HTC sync, plugged in phone, chose HTC sync, got connection, tried to run the .exe. All I got was a brief dos window. I'm probably doing something wrong here. Can someone tell me how to run this? Or, can I extract the stock recovery from this and flash it? I extracted the files and the recover is in there. I was told it was all signed and legit original stock. Can anyone tell me how to do it if it is possible?
with the 2.2 OTA coming I decidied I would go back to the stock recovery and accept the OTA, well I was able to flash in HBOOT to get back to eveyrthing stock, it now says hboot .77, and the right radio, but when I reboot, it just boot loops, and wont load up, so I hboot and put clockwork back on since I have S-OFF, and tryed loading a nandroid and the same thing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted incredible with the hydra kernel. i had the 1.13 and went to the 1.15 over clock kernel and my pone went into a reboot cycle and wouldnt start up. i was told to go to the format boot in the clockwork recovery so i did. now the phone will only start up in the bootloader screen it does the sd card check. any ideas? they are sending me a new phone but i really dont want to re set up the phone.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI did a full wipe, including cache, and got stuck in a boot loop. I pulled the battery, and when I hold down the volume and power button to boot into recovery so I can restore, the phone vibrates three times very quickly, then nothing. I can turn it on and go into boot loop, but that's it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was running Virtuous 2.6 and I decided to run some tests with task killers/force closing apps, etc and wanted to get back to the stock 2.1. I downgraded to 2.1 just fine, installed the May OTA update, and went to install 2.2 with the PB31IMG.zip file. Instead of the bootloader giving me the option to update, it simply says 'parsing' for about 2 seconds and then goes back to the HBoot menu.
Now when I reboot the phone, it will only boot into recovery and nothing else. I put the 2.1 downgrade back on to the sdcard and tried updating again and it just says 'parsing' and doesn't work.
