HTC Incredible :: Rooted Older 2.2 Leak To New 2.2 Leak?
Sep 1, 2010Okay so a month or so ago I rooted with Unrevoked and put on the 2.2 leak that was available at the time. I doubt I'll get an OTA for the official 2.2 but I saw the update.zip was made available. Is there anyway to put this on my phone? I'm assuming I'll have to downgrade to stock RUU first and then I'll lose root and lose all my backup info. Basically I want the new 2.2 but I don't want to lose my data. Is this possible yet and if so how do you do it? There are a gazillion threads about similar issues but I haven't seen one that specifically talks about this yet, although it's probably in here somewhere.

Aug 30, 2010New to the whole rooting thing...
I was able to (i think) root w unrevoked3 and then unrevoked forever. I then installed the leaked 2.2. If I remember correctly, i had to root again after the leak.
Now, when I go to try to remove bloatware, by booting into clockwork and using adb, it wont let me in clockwork mod. I get the battery symbol thing with the exclamation mark.
I have S-off.
Should I re-root, is that the problem? What else could it be?
I also installed ROM manager, and it states that superuser was not found at "/system/xbin/su".
Should I assume that the update killed my root and I need to do it again?
HTC Incredible : Unrooting From XDA Froyo Leak (from 8/26)
Sep 18, 2010So I have the Froyo Leak (ROM, no radio) based off of the official Froyo leak (I have the 2.05 radio). I want to unroot and go back to the stock 2.1 so that I can upgrade to the official 2.2 OTA from Verizon (then I'll re-root, that's another story though).
ROM I currently have: [ROM] 8/26 Leak Lite w/ Sense - xda-developers
The reason why I'm creating this thread is because the video from the first post at the bottom about unrooting from leaked 2.2, Is talking about downgrading from a different leaked ROM, completely different software # than I have, and I want to make sure I do this the right way.

Aug 9, 2010Anyone else getting a FC all the time with the stock browser? Every other time I use it, it either locks up with 90% in the status bar or just FC's without warning. Would really like to get this fixed.

May 3, 2010When I first boot up the phone and check the memory (after shutting down all the apps I don't want running) I notice my phone has about 220-250 MB free after leaving the phone on for about 2-3 hours, with no activity on my part, that number gets smaller and smaller. I just rebooted my phone again because it was down to 125 MB free with no applications running.
Also, "Android System" is consuming 65% of my battery life. I realize that number is inaccurate after a fresh reboot so I played with the phone for a good 4 hours running apps and such, so that I could get a good test of how much the OS is eating up in comparison to other apps. 65% is a bit much no?

Aug 26, 2010I disabled the flash player that came installed and used the Nexus_One_Fix that worked on the 8/1 leak but so far it won't work in the Hulu app now. I just get a picture of a box with a ? mark inside.

Jul 30, 2010so I took the leap the same night the froyo leak was out. I was on rooted 2.1 and followed the steps of intalling the ota and then re-rooted and installed the leaked froyo.I tried most of the fixes, but would rather wait for the "real" Froyo OTA. My question is simple, do I have to remove the effects of the OTA (downgrade the hboot) before I re-flash to a stock 2.1 or will the 2.1 reflash take care of that?

Jul 28, 2010I was on 2.1 stock, did the leaked ota and then the 2.2 leak. Everything is working great but I've noticed vibrate is not working for notifications. It seems to work for hepatic feedback and on calls BUT apps like gmail/messages/chompsms/others don't vibrate at all even if it's enabled. What the hell do I do? Any ideas?

Aug 28, 2010I wanted to compare the results of the two different methods of installing this update.I wiped everything by installing the leaked RUU 2 days ago and I must say my phone's performance has significantly improved. My quadrant score went from 525 (stock) to 1365 (after installing the leaked Froyo) neither score was rooted.Scrolling seems much faster and the optical pad is a lot smoother.I'm hearing some people who installed the OTA saying that their phone has been laggy and hangs when scrolling.I've been running the official Froyo for the past 2 days and haven't experienced this.Can we get some feedback from some people who have installed the RUU vs OTA.

Today I rooted my DInc with Unrevoked Forever, then I Flashed the 8/1 Froyo Leak but I did not flash the Radio.
My Software Info is:

BaseBand - 1.00.03.04.06
Kernel - 2.6.32.15 - g5e1ad8b htc-kernel@and 18-2 #1
PRI Version - 1.28.002
So far the phone works I have Market 2.2 etc, but I tested Hulu and found out that my "handset" doesn't work with this format. I'm not sure how to check for Flash 10.1 but some video worked on the Adobe flash player site.
HTC Incredible :: Updated To Newest Leak - Lost Ringtones And Alerts?
Aug 4, 2010I updated to the newest leak version last night successfully, and it's the first time I've rooted. It's kind of annoying how I lost all my ringtones and alerts for texts and stuff. The only option is 'Default Verizon' which annoys the hell out of me. I'd rather not have to download an app to get a simple ringtone for texts and google talk and phone calls. Any way to just get the regular list back that came with the phone?

Since then, occasionally when I go from one app and then click the home button, it flashes and then shows the HTC white screen and then it takes time to load all my home screens back up. Jun 2, 2010I am running v3 and my wife has the OTA. The OTA is very buggy when compared to my v3. Can I flash her phone to v3? The main bug/problem with her OTA is that the phone constantly puts itself into silent mode. I did not believe it (I thought she was hitting the rocker) until i witnessed it happening. BTW a reset does not fix the issue.

Aug 23, 2010Totally confused about if I can Root or Not, If it will cure my problems (unresponsiveness, Freeze up's and the annoying self starting useless apps - Amazon MP3, my uploads, Footprints etc.).And of course, How to do it?I Progressed through all 3 leaks on My ERIS and now (just last week) have the OTA update as well.I know this has been talked about B4 but I can't seem to find the correct thread. Also, I can't get a simple definitive answer, that doesn't preface something Like, Here's a Link go read this and the 20 other links it references as well.Not that I have a problem reading all the info, it's just that everyday the answers change or someone offers a "better mousetrap" or just confuses the issue with opinions instead of facts.If there is anybody who can simply tell me if on leak 3 and the recent update, I can Root, How to "simply" do it. That one click root thread seems simple enough! And can give me the name and link of a ROM that will get rid of the Crap that runs in the background but wont cripple or disable the phones main functions such as Phone, GPS Email and the modified FLASH we have had since day one that for me at least, Works. I would be forever indebted.One other thing I would like to change is the phone dialer, I would love Moto Droid one, That just puts a large keypad on the screen, with tabs for contacts, recent etc. Instead of the horrible 1/2 screen one we have. that when you try swiping through the contacts it always dials them!

Apr 30, 2010I went to Verizon on my lunch break, and got assisted by the actual store supervisor, which was pretty cool. He was a blackberry guy, and didn't seem to know much about Android. Really nice though. He basically had me do basic diagnostics, but when i explained that it must be hardware in my phone not working since my facebook contacts where not syncing correctly. I also complained about dialer lag, and that i shouldn't have to reset my phone every month to keep it fast.
Now, it's clear that I was running the 2.1 leak. When he compared my settings to the ones on the store's Eris, he goes, "Are you running any other hack or anything on the phone?" I pleaded innocent and was like, "No...I just got the OTA from you guys. I don't know why they're different." He didn't once check the phones "About" section, and seemed to care more about fixing the problem. He had a "tech" look at it, but they couldn't figure anything out.
After 45 minutes or so, he says that if I can show him Facebook syncing on the stores Eris with -my- account, he'd swap the phone as defective for a referb. I did, and he did it, no questions asked. Now, back on 1.5...I also now have a pretty brand new phone. (No scratches or anything). I will say...in the time i had the phone with me at work till getting home now....1.5 is horrible. Oh. My. God. Thank GOD I flashed the leak when I did...the phone is horrible. So, project for tonight is Root. Wish me luck.
