I know this is a known issue on the Incredible and Desire, and now it seems like the EVO too. I have regular sony headphones in my EVO and after about 2 or 3 minutes the icon will change from headphones to headphones with mic the voice dialer comes up and the music player just starts to skip. Is there any way to disable the voice dialer?

I've noticed this since I bought the phone (I had other issues before such as low battery life, vibration feedback simply not working, etc - I hard reset the phone and those went away, but this is back), and I'm wondering if it's my hardware, or the software.
Basically, if I'm listening to music (Pandora or the Music app), it'll randomly hit Next song - if it's the music app, it'll be a mish-mash of fast forward and next track. This is with the phone screen off or on. When it starts happening I turn the screen on and notice it jumping all over, and I've not touched anything. Additionally, while this is happening, voice dialer opens over and over after I close it, and sometimes it'll just start making a call to the last dialed/received number (which is making me a hit with all my friends).
Finally, I say possessed because this is not consistent. For example, I'm listening to Pandora now with no issues. However, the fact that I have to even worry about this happening again (it's almost surefire in the car, for some reason, but not exclusive to there) is a dealbreaker, and my 30 day trial is still going, so I should probably decide.
I'm not sure if it has to do with today's update but I have a pretty good idea it is. Whenever I got to ATK it shows many more apps 'open' than I specifically opened.
Say I opened Music and internet. Voice dialer, maps, and gesture search will have opened as well.
So my wife bought me a bluetooth headset (we have a hands free law starting in Ontario next month) and I finally got around to trying the default "Voice Dialer" app.Please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like this isn't really a voice dialer. The app is _called_ voice dialer, but you can actually use it to search your phone for _anything_.When I try to use it to call someone, I say "Call Patricia". It pops up a box that asks if i want to call her work number or mobile number. At this point there doesn't seem to be any way to choose an option by _voice_, instead you have to actually press one of the options on screen.

As soon as I hit play, it starts skipping through songs... playing 1-2 seconds and then skipping to the next. I have not had this issue using earbuds- just the 3.5mm cable into my car's aux input. Searching, I found a similar issue with the HTC Incredible on the HTC support forum.

I think it might have something to do with scrobbleing. I just signed up for Last.fm, and discovered that I could scrobble the tracks I play from my other music players, which I think is a pretty great feature.
I have several music players: Tunewiki, MixZing, 3, and Zimly. (I'm trying to figure out which one I like best to stick with.) I downloaded ScrobbleDroid for the players that don't support scrobbleing natively.
Now, I don't know if the scrobble feature has anything to do with my music hang ups, but this is the only thing I've changed relating to music.
Music player often skips, I can watch the bar go "15 seconds" "19 seconds" "22 seconds" "27 seconds" etc... When I try to change songs the app just shows the album art spinning around. Then I exit (or force close the app) it sometimes starts up on its own?

I have a 16 GB MicroSD that I bought at MicroCenter a long while back. It's branded MicroCenter but made by Ricoh. In any event, I put 9 GB of MP3s on it last night by just copying them to the MicroSD (after a full format, not a quick format).
Now, I would fault the card but, it plays fine in my Blackberry without skips. Any solution here? Would it make a difference if I formatted the card in Linux instead of Windows or something like that?
Using the HTC music player and it is acting strangely. When I have it in my pocket (with the screen locked) it seems to keep skipping about between tracks. I can recreate this effect by tilting it backwards and forwards and it skips a track. I at first thought it would be helped by turning off the accelerometer, but there seems no obvious way of doing that. What I have since noticed is that sometimes the player detects my headphones as a headset (a headset icon appears in the top bar) and then I get these problems. When it actually detects them as headphones, which gives a slightly different icon, it seems to actually work perfectly. It seems to be just luck as to which it recognises as, and it makes it useless as a music player.
View 17 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I'm istening to music, the player 'skips' and sometimes stops all together, until I get it out of my pocket and hit the home button to wake the screen up. I think it's caused by my phone dropping the signal completely, but it only happens when I've got the phone in my pocket. Is there a way to stop this? I've switched from the HTC player to MixZing lite, which has helped a lot, but it still does it.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI downloaded MixZing yesterday as a music player and I had a weird experience. When I would start the application and it would begin playing a song, I would set the phone down on the desk and the music player would start skipping through songs, playing each about 2-5 seconds only.
I stopped the app and then when I put it back on the desk, it would start by itself and start playing again.
Today, I noticed a similar issue with the FM player. I started the FM player on a station while I was holding the phone upright, when I put it down it would start skipping through the stations by itself and I could not stop it, I had to turn off the FM radio.
When I placed the phone down on the desk, lying flat, and I started the FM radio from there, it played the one station I wanted without skipping.
I have had my G2 Touch for nearly a month now and I am noticing that when listening to music in the music player there is a lot of skipping and stuttering. It seems to be worse with particular tracks. I also listen to spotify offline playlists which seem to be OK. Initially, I noticed the problem was worse when I had Last.fm scrobbling turned on...but now that and all data hungry apps are off (that I can think of) and still the bad playback. I am wondering if it is specific to my phone - in which case I am probably still able to get T-mobile to exchange it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI thought I had this figured out when I took Weather and Toggle off the phone, but now I'm still having trouble with some stutter and skip with the music players I've tried. I've been using Mixzing recently and I've upped the buffer as high as it can go and still some skipping.
Anyone else having this problem/find a solution/have an idea what's causing it. I use the phone more for music than I do as a phone and this is really bugging me. Never had this problem with my *ahem* iPhone.
I was having a bunch of trouble when listening to the music player where every so often the thing would stutter while in playback. I was getting pissed and thinking I was going to have to take the Captivate back, but tonight as I was fooling around with launcher pro and listening to tunes i noticed that the hiccup came every time the clock widget changed minutes (Weather and Toggle). I deleted the widget and low and behold, stuttering gone.

I open the music player to start playing music and it starts frantically skipping through songs and going crazy. I restart and it still happens.
This also happens with podcasts in google listen. I'll be listening and all of a sudden it'll switch to another podcast.
I can't figure out why this is happening. On maybe the same note. i restarted and had the same music player issue, then went to Taskiller Free and found that all my apps were running...???? This is 2 min after a restart.
What's going on here. I'm on stock Eris, no rooting.
Every time I try and use the voice dialer app it never pulls what I want.Or, I have to tell it three time to pull a number, which usually ends up being wrong, too.Am I doing something wrong here? If I want to call my friend X, I call call X.is there a protocol I am not following? Is there another app that does what the voice dialer does, but better?

View 6 Replies View Relatedi have a google voice number and i installed google voice on my droid with android 2.2 but it dosnt do what I want it to do.I want a dialer that is only used to make calls from my google voice number. I know you can setup google voice to:
-to make all calls from GV
-to make only international calls from GV
-make no calls from GV
-ask if you want to use GV (before every call)
I dont want any of these. I want my normal dialer to use my normal number and whenever I want to make a call from GV I want to click on an APP and have a dialer appear and any calls from that dialer are made with the GV number.my BB worked this way. I would click on GV and then start dialing and it made the call with GV.
I noticed that with the 2.2 upgrade, a press on my bluetooth headset's button automatically starts the voice dialer.Is there any way to control this feature or change settings for my bt headset device? I found a workaround with app Call Confirm for now.

I had her go into the voice recognizer settings but the option to train it is not there as it was on the D2.She also says it doesn't prompt her for confirmation and she can't find the setting to have it confirm before dialing. Is there an option she's missing?

Maybe I speak with too much of an accent or something, but (in general) it works pretty awful for me.
However, I have stumbled across options that I'm not seeing in the regular menu system...
like an option to turn on "audio dock". When I selected it, I got a message that audio dock was not currently available.
or "open SIM card lock setings"

I have a BlueAnt Endure headset connected to my XPZ. Randomly my phone will dial someone from my phone book. I have just realised that it is because I keep the headset in my pocket (when not in use) and if I accidentally lean on it and subsequently press the command button twice within a few seconds it will enable the 'Voice Dialer'. It will then interpret any noise or voice into random numbers or sometimes a phonebook name.
I have called BlueAnt and they tell me that I cannot disable the 'Voice Dialer' command within the unit.
Is there a way to disable this action on the phone? Is this a SONY or an Android thing?
Do I need to install a custom ROM to disable this function?

I've seen an app that can launch voice search from the BT headset, but it still uses the phone's mic. It would be great if the voice dialer could be completely replaced with the much more functional new Voice Search. View 6 Replies View RelatedOK I see there are a few threads on this so called "voice dialer".However, if you're driving along and activate voice dialer (which is simple enough, no problem there) what's the point of having to say "Call Robert Smith" and then have to look at the screen, see if it's got the correct name and touch it to make the call?Doesn't this defeat the purpose of voice activated dialing?My older Motorola Krave had a real touch free voice dialer that responded to you and asked if it's choice was correct at which point you could say "yes" and it would dial it.Now we have the latest greatest Androids that can't do that.Whoever developed this app had no clue about the dysfunction and potential hazards involved with this "feature".I love my Eris but was completely disappointed with this app.

I use a blutooth headset, and use that because I work outside and my hands are usually sweaty or wet. The issue is that it's awful. It hardly ever hears me correctly, and without any warning it calls the wrong person! Very annoying at 7 in the morning, or 10 at night when you start dialing random people.I tried a different method, saying "open contacts" and it still dials random people.The Google Voice App understands me perfectly when I use it for texting or email. Why can't this Voice Dialer?Is there a way to replace the Voice Dialer with something better?Or is there a way to force it to confirm who I want to call?
