View 1 RepliesI rooted my hero a few days ago and got Wireless Tether up and working. It works great except none of the settings do anything. I can change them, wireless tether restarts, but they never take effect. I tried changing the SSID, adding encryption, and changing the encryption password. None of the settings took effect. My laptop and ipod touch still discovered the network as "AndroidTether" with no encryption. Is there any way to fix this problem?Rooted 2.1 HTC Hero with stock rom.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHow does wireless tether work? I know that it can receive a WiFi signal but it can also transmit one? Just curious. Also, is the new WiFi tether coming in the OTA going to be faster than the root one? The root WiFi tether is fine, but I most certainly wouldn't mind faster.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI know there was another thread on this topic that linked to the XDA forum but that thread is more about loading a specific kernel to enable AP Tether. I like Hydra's new kernels and you can do the same thing with them as well. I attempted to install the newest version of Wireless Tether from the market but it did not allow AP mode. So I found it's necessary, as verified elsewhere, to install the (wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre3.apk) version.
Once I did this and added the bin file, it worked great. WPA2 security is also included in this version. So to make it easy, I just created a zip that's already called Android.tether and has the required .apk and .bin already inside for AP Tether. This is not supported with the stock kernel, check to see if your kernel of choice supports it if you are in question. I can for sure verify the Hydra OCUV 1.113 ghz v0.8 kernels.

what exactly does access control do on the wireless tether app, and how do i set it up? i would think it locks out all but the mac addresses you specify, but even when i have it enabled it seems to let everyone in (tested with both my laptop and ipod touch)...

View 4 Replies View RelatedFinally broke down and rooted tonight.Picked up Wireless Tether from the market, had everything set kept getting limited access messages on my laptop.Did some searching and came across the solution to manually download the apk and a .bin file and put it in the android.tether directory on sd card. Was finally able to connect from my laptop. However, my connection is limited to "local only".I have tried using the access control, disabling access control, turning on encryption, disabling encryption, etc.Every time I connect, local only.I've flushed my IP info on the laptop and still local only. What do I need to do to get full access?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having issues getting the 2 wifi tethering programs to work correctly. I just rooted for the firstt time today. Both programs start up correctly and allow me to enable to wifi tethering but I can't get any device to see the wifi connection they are creating. I have tried both scanning for the network and trying to manually connect to it by typing in the SSID but I can't get any device to see the network. I am using a Droid X with the official 2.2 update rooted.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe main reason i wanted a rooted phone was so i could connect to my laptops ad hoc network and use a program for wireless keyboard and mouse. i cant really afford the real thing at the moment and with my laptop hooked up to my flat screen its kind of necessary to have..
So ive rooted my phone and tried a few roms. currently i have this one: [ROM] [05/18/2010] Tainted Vanilla V1.4 OVERCLOCKED - xda-developers
I always run into the same problem though. wired or wireless, i cant get it to connect right. wired never works in any way but i dont really care about that. wireless however shows some signs of working. it shows some data has been sent, not received though. and my computer will detect and connect to it, but seems to lose the signal after a few moments. when i bring up a browser it doesnt even look like something might load. it just says im offline. could someone help me with this?
The other part of this problem is i really just want to connect to my computers ad hoc network and use a wireless keyboard and mouse program. none of them seem that great unfortunately.. recommendations are appreciated. but my biggest issue is that i cant seem to connect to an ad hoc network. i believe my phone detected it only once while i was on the "white widow" rom, but could never quite connect..
I have a stock EVO with the latest OTA update (software version: 1.47.651.1) and it has never been rooted. All I want to do now is be able to use wireless tether (with multiple laptops) via my EVO. What is the easy/best way to achieve this? I know the first thing I need to do is root the EVO. Should I do this using Unrevoked, or using something like SimpleRoot? For my purposes, what's the difference b/t these two methods?
Next, is wireless tether an app that I have to download somewhere? If so, which is the best one (if there are more than one). Or will this feature surface automatically after rooting the phone. Or does it come on some ROM that I need to flash? And finally, what is this Radio/WiMax patch thing that everyone is trying to put on their phone?
The Evo alerted me that it was ready for an update. Me not thinking about the unrevoked root I did accepted and now it won't let me tether wirelessly. I tried you redo the unrevoked thing already.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got this phone the day it can out and my friend installed the wireless tether on it that day. Since then I have had no problem with it until I updated my phone today. I have always hit cancel till now. How do I get my wireless tether to work again?
View 23 Replies View RelatedWhat are the chances that we will be able to use Wireless tether for Root after the brilliant minds at XDA root this phone?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot seem to get my wireless tether to work. My phone is unrevoked 3, fresh 2.2, netarchy kernel, latest tether software that supposedly fixed it. It is set up identical to my wife's who is 2.1, unrevoked and hers works fine. Slow compared to my t=mobile HTC HD2 tether but it works. WHat could be wrong with mine. I tried using it through bluetooth and no dice.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there a chance of getting caught while using wireless tether? And by that I mean is there a possibility that I will be charged on my bill,I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I'm using an Htc Evo Unrevoked.
