Android :: High Battery Usage - But No Use Details Listed

Oct 23, 2009

An hour after my G1 phone was fully charged, the "Battery Usage" showed me that my game had used 20% of the battery usage. Except, I never ran my game (I had run the game before starting the charge). I checked TasKiller, and it didn't list my game as running (my game also doesn't run any services). When I clicked on the details of the battery usage for my game, it didn't list anything under the "Use details" section. Is it possible to use battery, but not have anything listed under the "Use details" section?

Samsung Moment :: Spare Parts Other Usage / Network Usage Too High

Dec 1, 2009

I don't know if it's my phone or what but when I look up the Other Usage on my phone, it shows it "Running" more than 2/3 of the time. And on Network Usage, "Android System" and "Media" use a great deal of the phone as well.I think this might have to do with my "android.process.acore" crashing every once in a while when it's asleep. Based on everyone's feedback I might have to return the Moment for a third time.

Android :: High Data Usage?

Sep 26, 2010

So we have 2 Incredibles on a family plan and with this chatter of eventual data caps, I just was curious and took a look at our recent data usage on myverizon to see where we stand.I average about 5gb a month while my significant other is around 20gb! I am a moderately heavy web user (although I don't really have anyone to compare to, but I check the internet a lot during the day out of sheer boredom at work) and he by all means is not.Can somebody explain what exactly eats data and how it works? We are mostly just curious and are guessing it's an app. But *what* is doing it? Like does it draw data from the internet or something? Is that app updating or refreshing? The only thing I know about data is like if you refresh a page on the internet, then data is used. I refreshed a website twice and my usage according to 3d watchdog jumped about 1mb. Is that normal? Is it also normal for there to be data usage while your phone is asleep?

HTC Legend :: High Standby Data Usage

Aug 23, 2010

Not sure if many of you have been following threads out there about very high data usage on standby - my experience.I went from using 5mb - 10mb a day to 100mb/day.Unbelieveable.I tried searching for everything I could to figure it out - all the way from Location Setting swithed on to Facebook having a Calendar sync'ing glitch where it perpetually sync'd - never stopped.Hence racked up Mb's.The problem, I believe, for my phone was the Gmail constantly sync'ing. I guess i have a few emails with large attachments - 3-5mbs. I thought once it sync'd it to my phone, it would not reload them. I had sync on every hour - so every hour - 5mbs were used.Needless to say, i have stopped the auto sync of my Gmail its on manual now, and better yet i will just be using IMAP instead of Push email, and the problem has been solved.

I am now back to normal use of 5mbs per day 10mb on the high side. And that is with Twitter constant, internet, Push to Talk, and World War game to name a few.If you dont follow your data usage, i highly recommend you do. There are horror stories out there of people having to pay $1000 extra. I will be owing prob an extra $50.00 or more due to this issue.(In Canada here on Bell Carrier monthly limit is 500mb) I recommend downloading 3G watchdog - really good at monitoring data.Anyway, just wanted to share this story, as I dont think there has been an HTC Legend thread. And that is the phone I have.

General :: High CPU Usage When Sending / Receiving SMS

Feb 2, 2013

Whenever I receive or send an SMS the CPU usage goes up to 90%-100% for like 5 seconds and then returns to low usage. At first I thought it was a problem with Handcent and after uninstalling and using the stock messaging program it does the same.

Is this normal?

HTC Desire :: High Data Usage: Listening To Pre-loaded Mp3?

Jul 14, 2010

I've spent the last 2 hours listening to a mix of mp3's that were either pre-loaded onto my sd card and that I've added to it myself (40-60 split) and I've noticed on 3G watchdog that my usage has shot up 40% odd!Why has this happened when I'm listening to stuff from my sd card?I have installed the last.fm app for what it's worth, is it doing soemthing it shouldn't be? I've had a look in my task manager and there is nothing obvious running that shouldn't be, if that makes sense.

General :: High Power Usage In Deep Sleep?

Aug 17, 2012

my Infuse 4g uses 25% of the battery when it's in deep sleep during the 6 hours I sleep. Yes, it is in deep sleep. Yes I have BBS. There are only one or two wakelocks for only a couple minutes each for twitter sync and things like that. How can it possibly be using that much battery in deep sleep? It's on CM10, but the problem only appeared after having it installed for several days. Normally I get maybe 2-5% use over my sleep period.

I thought deep sleep = deep sleep and it has a constant near-zero power consumption.

Motorola Milestone :: High Standby Data Usage Solution

Mar 7, 2010

I've noticed a few people have complained about high standby data usage.. ie when you leave the phone on a desk, with nothing streaming, you still manage to use up 1-2mb per hour (as I was!). This is a big problem for people moving from something like a blackberry where it was hard to use up a lot of data even if you tried.I tried disabling as much as possible to see what was causing the problem (NetSentry was great for tracking usage but of course can't tell you which programs/services are using it up), and after exhausting all ideas I tried deleting the two non-GMail email accounts I had. On was set up as push Exchange, and the other a 15-minute polling POP account. I have to assume it was the Exchange that was the problem, but I can't be sure. In any case, my usage dropped from about 4MB over 3 hours to about 12kB for the last 3 hours since I disabled the accounts. In conclusion, email can be more of a problem than you think! I'm going to forward my other accounts through my GMail to see if that works better.

Motorola Droid :: High Memory Usage On Bugless Beast?

I recently installed Bugless Beast v1.1 @ 1Ghz. I've noticed that the memory available has dropped down to the 60's and 70's when I wipe everything. Bugless Beast is fine, whether I have 40 memory or 60. On Stock 2.1, it would go up to 130 Max. So what's up? Why is my available memory so low?

General :: Extremely High Data Usage Without Apps Running 4.2.2

Oct 20, 2013

I migrated from Mororola RAZR (XT910) to Alcatel One Touch Idox X (6040D) on both phones I have the same applications, but on the Alcatel it happens again and again that out of nowhere suddenly Streaming media starts to download a huge amount of data, until I restart the phone.

-Google backup, location, photo sync is OFF

This behavior happens even if the Apps such as IMDB, YOUTUBE, POWERAMP are force closed. I used Watch dog 3G so My Data Manager, but both of them just show "streaming media" as the process eating the data. As Youtube was noted in System data consumption I could set there Background data limitation, which worked a little bit, but the issue continues, like some other application would try to take over YT misbehavior

Yesterday the phone "streamed" like this 6GB of data on WIFI and almost 700 MB on mobile, last month with XT910, I lasted with 700 MB mobile data for more than 2 weeks.

Samsung Captivate : Slightly Better Battery Listed At Amazon

Aug 18, 2010

Just spotted this on Amazon: Amazon.com: Amzer 1600 mAh Lithium Ion Standrad Battery for Samsung Captivate i897 and Samsung Vibrant T959: Cell Phones. I'm honestly happy enough with the existing battery -- I have to try REALLY hard to kill it in a day -- but every extra mAh helps, right? Too bad this one is only 100mAh better than stock. Doesn't really seem worth $50 to me. But maybe, since this is listed as their "Standard" battery, they've got an extended one coming down the pipeline. I'd spend $50 for 2000mAh, easy.

HTC Desire :: High - Android System - Battery Use

Does anyone notice that 'Android System' battery usage is very high?

I ran a test where i displayed just a photo

Battery Indicator
3G Watchdog
Photos
Advanced Task Killer Free

within 20 minutes the results on the battery are the following:

Android System: 63%
Display: 24%
Cell standby 13%

Any thoughts on to what might be causing Android System to be so high, only them programs are running. Does this happen to your system? I notice with web browsing its about the same usage as well, with wifi and internet taking up small amounts.

Motorola Droid X :: Does The Battery Read High Or Low

Sep 3, 2010

This is not a battery life thread, in short all I wish to know is whether the Droid X battery (which stupidly only reads in 10% intervals) is reported higher or lower than its actual value?

For example, when it is at 70% reported, is it at 79% (or lower)? Or is it at 61% or higher? Obviously logic says it rounds down so it is always showing battery levels lower than it actually is (which is good because your battery is always higher than what it tells you), but it is also plausible that it ticks down (to 70%) when it actually hits 70%, then stays there until it gets down to 60%.

Not really a support question but its something I've been wondering, I assume it is the former as that makes the most sense from both a mathematical standpoint and a logical standpoint (show less battery than you really have left and you will not run out of battery when the phone goes into its battery reserve state).

As the battery was draining (almost dead) I left this screen up (waiting for it to die) total of 13hrs and 20+ min. It does not use any battery to check this. Look at how long it has been unplugged. The BT, Sprint Nav and Beautiful widgets never get killed by my task killer because these are a must for my job. I am a Professional Driver of 21 years and these are needed.

HTC Hero :: My Battery Is Draining Fast / Awake Time High

Feb 22, 2010

Before everybody redirects me to the standard "ways to extend your battery life" threads, I believe I've tried all the usual tricks, which is why I'm posting another thread. This is really starting to drive me nuts. Up until a few weeks ago, I was getting good battery life. A couple of days worth with normal usage, which I think is reasonable with all considered. But now, it lasts about half a day, which is obviously not much use when you can only charge it at night.I've been checking the "awake time" and sometimes it just keeps staying high. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. When the awake time is high, it is also warm to the touch, as if it is doing a lot of processing or something.

I've also been using "spare parts" to see what appears under "partial awake". I have never seen anything under this which accounts for the awake time. For example, the awake time might say "15 hrs", but "partial awake" in spare parts shows the biggest thing as being "Android system", but only taking "2 mins".I have (as far as I can tell) disabled the standard HTC messages app, and am now using Handcent SMS.I have turned off bluetooth and GPS, but leave wifi and mobile data on. I know switching these off saves power, but I've always had them on without as much drain as I do now.I have done a factory reset, and reinstalled all my usual apps, and left off any which I don't really need. All seemed well for a few days, but then the drain started again.

I have a feeling my battery drain is due to an update to an app, but as it's not consistent, I can't figure out which app or update it could be.As it is, with the battery lasting for less time than I am out in the day, it makes it a really rubbish phone, and just not fit for purpose. Is there any other way, other than using "spare parts", that I can tell what is using my power?

Motorola Droid :: High Temp - Lower Battery Life

Apr 7, 2010

Well recently, its been getting REALLY hot here in New York. And with it, my battery temperature has been idling in the 30-35 range, higher in my pocket, and therefore its been at 40 constantly. I've done nothing today with it besides maybe 15 minutes of music via headphones total, and I'm getting like 17 hour battery life. I used to get this while spamming apps, playing around, browsing, etc. Does temperature increase battery use or is it time to switch ROMs (Petes 0.8 has been a battery drain on me).

General :: High Battery Drain Since Flashing CM10.1 Galaxy S3?

Jan 17, 2013

Note, I've installed the cm10.1 straight from my internal memory and I do not have an external SD card. Also, from the dump file it seems that the phone was mostly in deep sleep mode and I see no reason then why it wouldn't just drain at 1-2% per 8h.
