Aug 13, 2010Will updating the radio effect my ability to update my roaming capability on on Verizon calling *228?
View 4 RepliesWill updating the radio effect my ability to update my roaming capability on on Verizon calling *228?
View 4 RepliesI've been wondering why my service was HORRIBLE in my house when my previous phone had great service. The X would jump from 0-2 bars constantly. I updated my roaming capabilities (*228, option 2) and I'm getting pretty much full bars continuously and my speedtest showed my ping decrease by 100ms, download speed triple, and upload speed double. This may be a drain on peoples' batteries if they haven't updated their roaming capabilities and their service keeps jumping. This may have been discussed before, but I figured it doesn't hurt to repeat for other people who have issues with service.
View 15 Replies View RelatedDid the roaming update a few days ago (14th) and since my friendstream will no longer update. It says there Is an error with the HTC.straem. etc........ and it must be closed. Any one else getting this problem before or after the update? I get better signal strength but I'd rather have friend stream work.

What are the benefits if any to updating to 2.9 version I see alot of people have? Sorry for the stupid question guys. Oh and one last thing if I use a custom ROM how do I run titanium backup after it reboots everything? Thanks again guys sorry for the dumb question
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to update my radio to 2.15 from 1.0. i put the pb31img zip on the root of my sd card, and did everything it said to do here: New Radio 2.15.00.07.28 for HTC Incredible from Adrynalyne but it doesn't actually ask me to update. it checks the file but then goes to the standard hboot menu. I'm running frankenrom 5 if it matters and I'm new to rooting and stuff so I'm probably making a simple mistake.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi downloaded the newest radio update and i booted into clockworkmod and installed but when i went into about phone the radio version stayed the same..
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was following the wiki for rooting and flashing CM6. It says in order to flash the new radio I need to have s-off set. If so is the best way to just use unrevoked forever? This is what I was following: Full Update Guide - HTC Incredible - CyanogenMod Wiki
View 3 Replies View Relatedthis is my first post here.just rooted a few days ago and decided today to try and flash a Froyo rom, was going to do skyraider. i read and followed the how-to for the radio update, unrooted, and placed the file on the root of my SD card. when i went to recovery when i attempt to run update.zip i get an error saying 'not found' 'authentication failed' or something very similer. searched around and didn't find much.currently running 2.1update1
View 5 Replies View Relatedcan someone explain why it's necessary to unroot my phone in order to update the radio? I would like to try skyraiders ROM but just don't feel comfortable unrooting my phone. will it be possible in the future to update the radio without unrooting?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI don't know what im doing wrong but while trying to update my cousins radio last night, after going to recovery the update.zip does not show up. The phone is not rooted and I di follow the directions for those who did not root but after going to recovery the directions say to press power and the volume up button but it just takes me.to the first portion of that screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI root my phone, installed Fourth Wave without a hiccup. I do my co-workers phone the same way and now he is stuck in HBoot. Radio won't update either. I removed the battery for 20min and tried, no luck. Goes right into HBoot. Anyway to get the phone back to normal?
View 11 Replies View RelatedSo I'm currently at stock after using PB31IMG to unroot and am now trying to update the radio to 2.05 so I can flash SkyRaider 2.2
Anytime I try and run the update in recovery I get the error message...
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command (this comes up before even trying to run the update)
I get an error when I try to update the radio. "update radio ignoring attempt to do multiple firmware updates" I don't know what I did wrong. I put PB13IMG.ZIP on sd card, it installed. Then DINC_OTA and renamed to update applied that. REBOOTED checked settings and its still not updated.
View 32 Replies View RelatedI'm running CyanogenMod6 Test8 right now, with the 1.X radio. if I update the radio to 2.X, and install the skyraider ROM, what happens if I just get so sick of sense that I go into rom manager and restore to my previous CyanogenMod6 Test8? Will the radio still be 2.X? Would I still be able to switch between ROMs as easily as I do now, only difference being my radio is updated?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to update my radio so I can install the latest sky raider Rom.I remember reading that once you update the radio you will be stuck with it.My question is if VZW's OTA has a slightly different radio in it will I still be able to install that one.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI took several shots of the same inanimate subject (Crayons) at different ISOs under "perfect" light conditions. I also took several shots of a different inanimate object (baby chew toy) under slightly less "perfect" light conditions (namelly I moved about 6 feet deeper into my house). All 100% crops. No retouching of any kind. The shots can be found here:
HTC Incredible Shot Comparison - Imgur
regretfully imgur removed the file names. But to give you an idea, the shots taken of crayons taken @ ISO 100, 200 and even 800 were nothing to write home about, but photographically acceptable. Noise is visible at all ISOs and @ ISO1250 things fall apart at the 100% scale (chromatic aberration, destructive noise, etc.). The chew toy shots were very telling. Light conditions were good and yet the camera had a hell of a time focusing. Took me several tries to get an acceptably in-focus shot at each ISO. And then I tried photographing my kids. In short, the came failed miserably, in every setting, to get a decent picture: this due to the fact that shutter speed cannot be changed (but this is a HUGE, drawback as it this pretty much puts taking pictures of moving subjects out of the question). Even though children portraiture is a challenge even with pro equipment, my piss-poor point-and-shoot can get a few remarkable pictures of the kids (posing) and yet the Incredible built-in camera could not get a correct focus reading to save its life.
IVMHO, it's a nice add-on camera but with severe photographic drawbacks when photographing moving objects (or even inanimate objects under less than perfect conditions).
I'm a long-time palm user, and a very new Android convert! But as a palm user, I've enjoyed the ability to search everything on the palm...notes fields, addresses, etc., as well as names and phone numbers. So no matter what piece of information you recall about something, there is a way to find it. Is there a way to do this with Android? So far, the only thing I've been able to find is a not-much-downloaded app called "aurora". It says it does that but does not. Mostly it searches the web. I'm an old fart, and my memory is not what it used to be, so I need the search app to become my "brains in a box".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using a Motorola Droid 1 and have run into a problem. My phone is constantly roaming (the little triangle in the status bar is visible) and I cannot program or activate my phone.
This started after this process:
My phone was rooted, Stock 2.2 with superuser (via clockwork) I accidentally applied the OTA Adobe flash update and became unrooted. I attempted to flash a rooted 2.2 with adobe with RSD Lite and loaded the newest baseband
My phone began not working at this point. I get this message when I try to activate via *228 or *22899: "The number or code you have entered is incorrect"......"Message 7 Switch 441"
I tried manually programming via ##PROGRAM, but to no avail.
I have flashed back to 2.0.1, 2.1, 2.2 every version of baseband I could find, but I still am roaming. Under phone status, my network is "Unknown"
Finally, here is what I have right now:
Model number: Droid
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Baseband version: C_01.3E.03P
Kernel version: 2.6.29-omap-g7fa8788android-build@apa26 #1
Build Number: ESE81
I talked to a verizon tech support guy and he got me as far as being able to make calls on my "unknown" network and roaming status. He thought that he fixed it after that, so I just gave up on that conversation....
I normally live in Houston so I obviously have service there but I go to Texas Tech in Lubbock where this used to be alltel. Now the weird thing is that both the voice and text network (a.k.a the one with no signal next to the bars on the droid) as well as 1X national access, is full Verizon now. However, my 3g is still considered extended network!! ( I know this because if I set my phone to home only I lose 3g or if I put it to evdo only my tag changes to extended network) I know that Verizon said that no updates would go to you if you are roaming so I am kind of stuck as to what to expect about getting it, since I am half roaming lol. I have had the phone on wifi as much as I can but nothing yet. I wondered though if you do it on wifi wouldn't that come out really late since wifi does not connect to the network so wont Verizon have to post it somewhere on a server for the phone to find? I still do not understand where the update goes if you use wifi and how your phone knows to look for it. Also i never got the original OTA for 2.0.1 and waited five days before downloading the file but I would like the OTA if possible. Just mainly wanting to know if anyone thinks it is going to work?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHere's a question that comes from an unclear view of how things work : can a a phone be data roaming without being voice roaming? If so how can a begin data roaming event can be detected? This question came to me from the DDMS options , where one can have" data roaming " and "home voice".
View 1 Replies View RelatedDepends on the size and gauge of the wire of your headphones. Also depends on the position of the wires. FM radio is a little picky, but works fine- depending on the points mentioned. Old & wrong: The FM radio on the Inc must be the weakest radio in a phone, evah! Just tried it today and picks up half the channels my Ngage and N900 pick up well. A lot of channels barely come in, or are static filled. I thought Steely Dan said "FM has no static at all"? Makes the CDMA radio seem not that bad, in comparison I know- at LEAST it has a radio. Must be set to suppa powwa savva mode

View 2 Replies View RelatedNexus HD do you all think there may be a software update or something in the future that will upgrade the video-taking capabilities of our Incredible? I'm assuming that we could since the Incredible is nearly identical to the Nexus One, and it's actually a bit better in several areas. I know HD video is kind of dumb on a smartphone, but wouldn't it be nice to just have it? Then the iPhone 4 has only got a bit of battery life, frontfacing camera and gyroscope over the Incredible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedNFL Mobile application forced an update today and I followed the instructions to uninstall the old application when the new one was installed. when I run the app I am getting an error notification that: "You appear to be roaming. to avoid excess roaming charges video has been disabled". I show 3G and am in my home area. I can play the videos if I enable WIFI but that isnt the point. My phone is not displaying the roaming icon. Phone is the Droid Incredible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know/have experience with avoiding int'l roaming charges? I called verizon and the rep said that I would roam anytime my phone is on, and that I would incur charges, which is NOT what I want. I don't need 3G or any other type of phone or data connection associated with the network. All I want to be able to do is use Fring/skype/googlevoice through a WiFi connection. I've been reading and am getting confused with all this 'APN' on/off stuff. Can't I just put the phone in airport mode and connect to WiFi through my DINC?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI'm going to be in Japan for 10 days. I read that they put in a 3G network so I called Verizon and our phone do work there! Here's the catch, it's 1.99 per min! They have a Global Data Package that 64.99 unlimited data, so I'm putting that on for the 10 days I'm there. I just got my Dinc last week and I'm a total noob when it comes to it. Is there an app or way to use wifi to place calls cheaper? I've tried searching these forums but I can't find anything.
