I'm having trouble activating , i have the storm before, and i remember i had to drive to an area near by to activate my phone because it was a 1x and i needed it to be 1X. Now verizon has bought U.S cellular towers near my college and I'm always in 1X , my storm is showing it right now, but I guess my incredible is not getting the same signal because i call *228 and it wont activate it, can anyone help me with this?

Has anyone been able to activate Visual Voicemail on the DI?I installed the app, but then it told me to remove and that it was already on the HTC unit.I removed and still cannot find out where this is.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI downloaded and installed Swype. I went to settings>language & keyboard and checked the Swype box. Under touch input>keyboard types, I only have 3 options Qwerty, Phone Keypad and Compact Qwerty. One of them has to be selected. Anyway, even with the Swype box selected, the qwerty keyboard still shows up on any screen where I enter text. I went through the Swype tutorial and know that its installed, I just can't seem to activate it.

For both I am instructed to dial a *7 number and for both I get a Verizon nessage saying this feature update could not be completed. Calling Verizon of course is no help as they say they dont support third party applicatons. Why wont any of these numbers go through for me? I was using Youmail on my previous Stom with Verizon, but no it wont connect, and I just cant get Google Voice to recieve a message either. After setting up accounts with both I call my phone from a landline and leave a message and can only retrieve it by calling *86 (Verizon voice mail) from my cell phone. So its not forwarding. Any suggestions?

I noticed it after the update HTC sent out (don't know if they are connected, just trying to give all the facts). I have stopped and started the Incredible, activated and re-activated the widget numerous times.
After going into settings and turning on auto updates I can back out and go back in and it is not checked. I can't get it to activate and stick.
I 'm using Wake Lock to stay awake my phone. I want to activate sleep mode when I will push the button "Activate" How can I activate sleep mode?

If I go to Wireless & Networks in the settings and click Wi-Fi settings, I see it shows my router there and says "not in range, remembered" initially, but as soon as that page comes up, it connects. Why is it only connecting after I go to the settings?

My main question is if I should do anything to the phone (like rooting it) before I activate it? Like is there something that works better or makes it better if done before it's activated? The problem was my new 16gb sd card. I tried to format to card many times but it didnt work.. Then I formatted to the phone. Now when I put my sim card in and turn on the phone, I put my gmail username and password.. It says there's no internet connection or something wrong with my service provider which is Fido.. All APN setting are correct.. and I checked my sim card with other phones, I can connect to internet.. I tried hundreds times its allways same message. and I cannot turn on the phone without any internet connection.

View 15 Replies View RelatedTrying to activate the LED to use as a flashlight on the HTC EVO 4G. I know this is possible because there at least a couple applications in the Android Market (LED Desire Light, Tesla) that do this.
I've tried using setFlashlightEnabled, which I'm told works on the Droid. On my Nexus One with Froyo I used setFlashMode to set the mode to FLASH_MODE_TORCH, which works fine. But I can't figure out how to get the same effect on the HTC EVO 4G.
The box just came....should I charge before turning on and activating?

Just in case someone else has the same dilema i had by buying thier EVO online for full price so they dindt have to get the 2 year contract. but then realizing that sprint requires a new 2 year contract with every new line you activete regardles of you bought the phone outright or not. heres how how to get around it.
1 Buy EVO 4G wherever.
2 Activated old phone with a new number on the basic Month to month 200 plan (had to be done at the Sprint store they wold not let me activate over the phone with this plan)
3 go home and upgrade plan online to 99.00 unlimited everything
4 Swap old phone with EVO under activate new phone online
5 Port your phone number from whereever you have it to Sprint replacing the new phone you just got when you avtivated the line
Thats it, it quite a few steps but atleast you wont have to worry about getting locked in to a new 2 year contract.

If he didn't tested 2 solutions : Ask the user to activate them himself (so the application quit, and the user has to reload it) Redirect the user in the corresponding view in order to activate them ( via something like "android.provider.Settings.ACTION_LOCATION_SOURCE_SETTINGS " )
The second solution is better to my mind but can be very boring for the user if he has to activate the Network + the GPS + Nework localisation That's why I ask if it is not possible to activate all that automatically if it is not possible ? I think it is possible because it exists widget that let the user activate network, gps etc... but how can we do that in the application?
