I need to find a way to programmatically logout from gmail account. I've noticed this happens when a new SIM card is inserted, but I need to do it from my app. Is this possible?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an application which requires a login at the beginning (this is the first activity). When the user logs in, I keep his credentials in the application (I extended android.application to add a field called 'key'). I would like to clear this field from memory (from application instance) an go back to the login activity.
I see the following possibilities: - Add a broadcast receiver to catch all possible event (call, click on menu, click on back, lock the phone ...) which clear the key field and launch the login activity - Use clearTaskOnLaunch for all activities except the login activity. But then until my application takes the focus again the key stays in the application object. (It seems it doesn't work with the go back button, maybe I need to use no history also) - Detect for each activity in all onPause or onStop events when application will leave the foreground to clear the key field and launch the login activity
The best would be to have a kind of OnPause method at application level but I think it doesn't exist.
So we where testing the phone out and used my friends youtube account to test. Now i've created my own account but i can't remove my friends account from the Youtube app. How do i logout and switch to another youtube account?
View 14 Replies View RelatedAll activities in my application require a user to be logged-in to view. Users can log out from almost any activity. This is a requirement of the application. At any point if the user logs-out, I want to send the user to the Login Activity. At this point I want this activity to be at the bottom of the history stack so that pressing the "back" button returns the user to Android's home screen.
I've seen this question asked a few different places, all answered with similar answers (that I outline here), but I want to pose it here to collect feedback. I've tried opening the Login activity by setting its Intent flags to FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP which seems to do as is outlined in the documentation, but does not achieve my goal of placing the Login activity at the bottom of the history stack, and preventing the user from navigating back to previously-seen logged-in activities. I also tried using android: launchMode ="singleTop" for the Login activity in the manifest, but this does not accomplish my goal either (and seems to have no effect anyway). I believe I need to either clear the history stack, or finish all previously- opened activities. One option is to have each activity's onCreate check logged-in status, and finish() if not logged-in. I do not like this option, as the back button will still be available for use, navigating back as activities close themselves. The next option is to maintain a LinkedList of references to all open activities that is statically accessible from everywhere (perhaps using weak references). On logout I will access this list and iterate over all previously-opened activities, invoking finish() on each one. I'll probably begin implementing this method soon.
I'd rather use some Intent flag trickery to accomplish this, however. I'd be beyond happy to find that I can fulfill my application's requirements without having to use either of the two methods that I've outlined above. Is there a way to accomplish this by using Intent or manifest settings, or is my second option, maintaining a LinkedList of opened activities the best option? Or is there another option that I'm completely overlooking?
Some have complained about not being able to change the LED or get repeat notifications for gmail. I stumbled on this last night and thought I would share. I haven't tried it and make no claims to its greatness.Gmail Notifier. It lets you change the color of the LED, vibration length, and gives repeat notifications. It also works for multiple gmail accounts I believe.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Sprint HTC Hero phone and can't figure out how to have 2 Gmail Inboxes. When I set up my first phone, I had two ways of checking my email, one with a mailbox icon named "Mail", and one with a tag-like icon named "Inbox". I was able to set up a second e-mail through the "Mail" icon but I like using the "Inbox" app (idk if it's necessarily an app) better because it's faster, displays pictures in the e-mails, and pushes my emails to my phone immediately without having to set a time period to sync.
Does anyone know how I can get a 2nd "Inbox" for my 2nd email? They're both Gmail addresses.
When I am viewing messages in a conversation in the GMail app, I cannot see the entire message. The part I don't see is usually the quoted text, so it isn't that big of a deal. However, there are some forums where I get instant email notification of a new post on a thread. The link in the email to go to the thread isn't shown as a clickable URL. If I am receiving the first notification email, it is fine, I can click on the link. But when there are multiple replies, even though I delete old notifications, it still shows up in a conversation view and won't let me click the URL.So, my question is: is there a way to view the entire message in a conversation thread? Currently I have to either switch to the HTC mail app and download via IMAP or go to the GMail's mobile webpage.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI noticed that the Family / Friends / Colleagues groups on Google (the default, unchangeable groups there) aren't synced with my Hero. As a work-around I've created 2 new groups, "My Family" and "My Friends", but this is messy (I end up with both "Family" AND "My Family" on gmail, but just "My Family" on my Hero). Is there any way to sync those basic 3 groups?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHad my Hero (T-mobile branded G2...) since release day, but in the last week or so I've had a few issues. Firstly, Gmail isn't synchronising regularly. Sometimes mail comes through instantly, sometimes it doesn't update for a day or more (if I open the Gmail app and "Refresh" it pulls the new mails down). I can't think of anything I've installed that could cause this (all i've installed in the last week are a few soundboards)Secondly, if I go into Market and try to either install a new app, or update an existing one, it sticks on "Starting download..." until I connect to Wifi (then downloads the app immediately). Is there a problem with the Market at the moment, or is this more likely to be a network issue?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI dont know if I am the only one but I am unable to recieve pictures on the gmail app on my Hero. I am able to view them with K9 and the regular email app. I am running Fresh 2.0b2 I dont mind using K9 or the regular email app but they arent as cosmetically fine tuned as the gmail app. You would think that an Android powered phone wouldnt have this issue.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI created a Gmail acct when I first got my Hero, but just yesterday I began an internship for a political campaign and they created another Gmail acct for me and they would like me to be able to receive my emails on my phone, they also use Google Calender so all the interns can be aware of the schedule of events. So how do I add this new Gmail acct and Google Calender to my Hero so I can recveive my email and be able to access the calender using the GMAIL App that came preinstalled?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince yesterday, I can't sync Gmail, I cant actually download from the market (although I can initiate), and I cant open Google Talk (it opens for a split second then closes, no force quit or error messages at all).I have searched for a solution all morning.I have tried going to google and google storage in applications and clearing cache/data to no help.I even went back to a nandroid from 2 weeks ago, no help there either. The only thing I have done is accidently change my password online from a PC.I changed it back 5 minutes later to the original (which is the one the phone uses).I am using Fresh 2.0D.PS yes I wiped when I went back to an old nandroid backup...Yes my sync settings are correct.
