I keep getting a 2nd notification for my sms messages, im using handcent. its not from the stock messaging app, turning that one on there is 3 different notifications. i cant seem to find where the notification is coming from. is there any app that can find out what it is?

Can anyone tell me how I can find out what is causing notification sounds?
My Hero will, at times, beep randomly, but leave nothing in the notifications bar. If I open a task manager I can see that HTC Checkin Service and Settings are the only things running. This process will repeat, whether I close the apps or not, and run the battery down.
Is there some kind of system log I can look at to find out what is causing this? It seems weird that the phone would make the sound but leave no evidence of a notification.
I just got my HTC hero and for some reason I am not receiving my text messages, not even a notification.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to mark text messages as read right from the notification bar? I hate when someone responds with something short enough that I can read it right from the bar. Then the only way that it will not show up as a new message on the message icon or be bold in the list, I have to click on it, open the message app, and then back out of it. Not that big of a PITA just kind of annoying when I already know the full message.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my desire back from repair. I thought everything would be backed up, and that I could just load my backup file once the phone was started for the first time. But apparently, this is not the case... HTC has stopped the support for this backup from Android 2.1 to 2.2 they told me in their phone support.... They advised me to download a file manager, and locate e.g my sms messages, and recreate them from there. However, I have not been able to find that folder? I can se lots of other old data, so the sd card has not been formatted...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI hate posting a query about something so seemingly simple. I googled around and can't find a duplication of the icon in the notification area of my new (since January) Eris running 1.5 stock.
I'll describe it: it in most ways resembles a little musical note, perhaps an eighth-note, but with a diagonal slash through it (not in a circle as the "no" sign).
Nothing running in the background, music-wise. On page 47 of the user guide/manual is a list of all stock icons; it is not there. No new apps have been installed for weeks.Any ideas as to what it could be?
I've noticed today at work then with my phone on vibrate or with the sound off, I do not get any notification of incoming text messages. Same thing with incoming email on my gmail account.. I could have sworn that the phone would vibrate when I got a text the first couple of days I had it. But now I get no vibrating notification at all.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI can't figure out how to make this work. It doesn't show up as an option in notifications, although I can do it it with pretty much everything else. I get tired of having to turn on my phone like it is a damn iphone, to see if I have an instant message waiting. I get dozens a day, and really don't like that I can't simply glance at the phone and see if one is waiting. Is there a setting for this, or an app to make it work? The Instant Messaging app for Yahoo, etc. seems like it could use an update. I don't get the "so and so is typing a message" like I used to on my BB when the other party was typing. I keep interrupting them now if we have a conversation going, and then miss their messages when I'm not staring at my phone.

On notification bar, it displays "2 messages from xxx" but not "message aaa from A" AND "message bbb from B",
That is, the messages are merged together and I can't read each contents of messages in a quick view.....
So, is it possible not to merge messages in android? like iOS?
When pulling down the notification bar and you see each notification's title and subject lines, many times the info in the text is wider than the screen. Is there a way to get the text to scroll so you can see the entire string?

What I need is to have some communication between android phones, one to one, and I thought that sending SMS messages would solve the problem, but the SMS notification are not needed for that, maybe the WAP PUSH messages would better for that but I have no idea how to send them from android phone.
I just had a question about Voicemail messages I get, whenever I get a notification for a voicemail that came in it shows up in a bunch of weird characters just has a bunch of weird numbers and what not, does anyone have any clue what these text message mean? I even get them when i delete messages from my voicemail box which I'm starting to get really confused over.

Until recently when I received a message and swiped down on the notification bar I would see the contact's picture next to the text message. I have saved contact pictures for most of my gmail contacts (had to since google won't pull in Facebook picture but that's another gripe). Recently however, the contact picture does not display in the notification area when I get an SMS. It just show a grey/black/white image where the contact picture should be. The contact picture still appears in the actual text message and in my list of text messages but not in the notification area. I have a Nexus 5 which I believe is up to date on all updates.

When she gets a text, the notification window comes up with the message, the background picture is a nicely rendered white Android holding a phone up to his "ear". Across the top, it says something along the lines of "leslie2099 is 0.7 miles away. Chat Now!". I'm an HTC Hero user with Cyanogenmod 6, so I am reasonably familiar with Froyo, but I can't figure out what this is from. Any ideas?
View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to rooted 2.2, I noticed that if I receive a text message at 10:18, it shows that I got it at 6:18 when I pull down the notification bar. When I click on it and go into text messages it shows the correct time though. Anyone else experience this? It's these minor things that are frustrating to me.

I jut picked up a Samsung Galaxy S3, and I am trying to change my notification sound for text messages. I put an MP3 file in the appropriate folder, and selected it in the settings menu on messaging. It keeps reverting back to the old default message notification sound.
How to get it to believe I want to use a different sound?
Hey..not a real problem, but since my 2.1 upgrade when I receive a text message my notification rings twice for one message. Anyone else get this? It's just weird behavior...nothing I can't live with.
