Since the Google Voice app update a few weeks ago, I notice that when placing calls, either the wrong number is called OR it doesn't show the proper caller ID (picture or name). Is anyone else experiencing this issue as well?

I downloaded and flashed Fresh 2.0d last night, and all looks good until I try to use Google Voice. I get an error message of - We have a problem, Your phone number could not be verified.
I tried it several times and no go. I then downloaded and older version of Google Voice and got it to recognize my phone, but it won't take messages for missed calls. I called my number, let it go to voicemail, and just get dead air.
Also, received an email from this morning from the Android Team at Google welcoming me and my new Nexus One. I have a Sprint Hero. What's that all about?
I finally changed the voicemail system on my Hero from Sprint's "visual voicemail" (which is misleading because it doesn't transcribe voicemails) to Google Voice. It's nice to see my transcribed voicemails now. However, when I actually want to hear them (if the transcription didn't work well), it only comes through the external speaker; the speaker on the back of the phone. I went into Google Voice settings and under "Voicemail Playback" I tried the only two options: "Play via Handset" and "Play via Speaker." Unfortunately, both play through the speaker phone speaker. How do I change it to the phone speaker? I also can't adjust the volume, so the whole world hears my voicemails through the external speaker.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just installed google voice on my new EVO, and I can't get it to dial with gv, it just dials from my cell number. I have went into gv and changed the setting to "always dial using google voice" and still it dials with my cell number. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Usually the texts also appear in my Google Voice App, but since today the people haven't been getting my texts. I know this by them telling me and the texts not appearing in my GV app.

I've got a Samsung Moment that had 1.5 on it for about 4 months and had Google Voice working on it just fine. Great, loved it.
I recently updated to 2.1, and everything works great on the phone EXCEPT Google Voice.
I go through the steps and it tells me "We have a problem! Your phone number could not be verified. Please try again."
I've tried a BUNCH of time, rebooted, uninstalled/reinstalled, everything I could think of.
Seems to be a big problem with Google Voice starting sometime last night. Outgoing calls from an Android phone are not working. The phone number dialed just rings and rings and is rarely ringing the other end. When it does ring the other end, it's showing the relay number, not the Google Voice number and when the person picks up, no one's there.Relay number is not letting me make calls with the google voice app.Google Mobile Help Current work around is to either call your Google Voice number directly and use it that way. Or use the web interface to call back. Still haven't found any confirmations from Google about this or if a fix is coming.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my phone set up with an All Call Block (outgoing caller ID blocked) with VZW. When I make a GV call using the Android app, it says something about the call can't be completed as dialed. Does the app not work with phones that have an All Call Block? I did call VZW to remove the block, but, since it's a corporate account, I needed a password, which I didn't have. But, I think she removed it prior to asking me for the password and GV appears to be working now. I want to see if anyone can confirm that definitely was the reason and if there are any workarounds for using the GV app and keeping my All Call Block. I can make a blocked GV call by manually dialing *67 then my GV # and using the dial out method, but that defeats the purpose of the GV app since that makes everything so easy. I guess the difference in using the GV app vs using a non-android phone is that the GV app dials a "special" number so, if I have the All Call Block, it can't see who I am I thought I recalled that if I dialed my GV number from my non-android phone with the All Call Block, it still recognized me (which is possible since the block only blocks caller ID, but the true number is still sent in the stream). So, bottom line, can I not use the GV app if I have All Call Block or is there a workaround?

It then started with the process and the screen said it was downloading.........2 days later, every time I go into voicemail ..it says it's downloading. I tried to cancel...1 day later it is still cancelling. How can I get out of this screen?

So, I checked settings. I'm on "full audio." But, I set it to instructions only, saved settings, even rebooted the phone, then reopened the app, but no change. I set it back to full audio, saved, reboot, nothing. Still not getting full prompts, the way it used to.. NOTHING changed, that I can figure out. It just stopped working properly on Friday. I'm running Fresh 1.1 rom, but I flashed that about 2 weeks ago and the navigation prompts were working fine .. until Friday.

I can disable Google Voice whenever, which isn't the problem. But, I am having a hard time deciding.
How come there is no voice it just shows me the route.

What I want to know is, what do people think about the Sprint visual voicemail that comes on the Hero as it compares to google's VM. Besides transcription, are there any benefits? Try Vlingo, which, since the GVA announcement, is now free. It's pretty amazing. Not perfect, but very useful.
Vlingo can also be set to read your texts/emails to you (good for driving).
Calling someone using the dialer keypad will never route over Google Voice. Calling someone from the "People" application works fine. Of course I have GV enabled for all calls. Is this the way it is or is something messed up?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have set up the Google Voice App to link to my Google voice account and I select the "ask to use google voice for each call" and the "always use google voice" options and neither work. There is no way to place calls within the app, and when I use the phone app nothing happens. I have no idea what to do. Figured out you can only do that using your contacts. Seems pretty limited, even the generic iphone app could dial direct. Oh well, maybe they will update in the future.

Does anybody know if it is possible, or how, to get the click-to-call initiated calls to show up as the person that I was calling in my phone's call log?

It takes about 10 to 15 seconds to actually dial out. Any suggestions? We both have Google Voice but it dials slow regardless if we're using Google Voice or the standard dialer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got my invite to Google voice and I was super excited, but then I found out there were some issues with Sprint playing nice with GV. I have a couple of questions for any of you using GV with sprint network. FYI, I have the any mobile any time plan. Questions:
1. I understand that sprint treats GV as a landline call, does this mean that it will eat my minutes with every call? also, is there a workaround for this? 2. should I get a google number or keep my number 3. if i get a google number can people still call my old number? 4. I read a lot about call forwarding and some *28 and *73 options, but i couldn't wrap my head around what to actually do. I know sprint dropped some 20 cent charge, but I also read that in some situations that charge still applies. 5. can you cancel out of the service after you have signed up.
