View 4 RepliesI used to get stuff like "turn left onto such and such street." Now I get "such and such street" and I have to look up to see whether the arrow is left or right. So, I checked settings. I'm on "full audio." But, I set it to instructions only, saved settings, even rebooted the phone, then reopened the app, but no change. I set it back to full audio, saved, reboot, nothing. Still not getting full prompts, the way it used to.. NOTHING changed, that I can figure out. It just stopped working properly on Friday. I'm running Fresh 1.1 rom, but I flashed that about 2 weeks ago and the navigation prompts were working fine .. until Friday.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI finally changed the voicemail system on my Hero from Sprint's "visual voicemail" (which is misleading because it doesn't transcribe voicemails) to Google Voice. It's nice to see my transcribed voicemails now. However, when I actually want to hear them (if the transcription didn't work well), it only comes through the external speaker; the speaker on the back of the phone. I went into Google Voice settings and under "Voicemail Playback" I tried the only two options: "Play via Handset" and "Play via Speaker." Unfortunately, both play through the speaker phone speaker. How do I change it to the phone speaker? I also can't adjust the volume, so the whole world hears my voicemails through the external speaker.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs the voice changeable? Its awful. That is all.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else interested in how Google voice will affect calling minutes? If you currently have your GV number set to call your Sprint cell and your incoming call is from another cell phone will you be charged for the minutes? If you setup your phone so GV is used to call all numbers that you dial will you be charged for calling other cellular number because GV masks the number? I have been through every level of support that Sprint offers and no one can answer me. Sadly tier 3 technical support told me "Google Voice is useless on a cell phone and you would not want to use this anyway". I had nothing more to say after that!
View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently just rooted my phone to 2.0d and added the live wallpapers to it. Well after I added the live wallpapers my google navigation wasn't working properly. Whenever I try to use it, it doesn't show my route like where I'm going. It looks like just a black screen in the middle and the voice doesn't work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI need a voicemail app but Google Voice is not available where I live.I tried Fusion Voicemail but did not like it and I've heard Youmail drains your battery since it does not let your phone go to sleep.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got an invite from our benevolent overload Google to try out their new google voice feature. I haven't set up anything yet, because 1. i dont know if I really need it 2. I am not sure 100% of what it does. Is anyone running GV currently for their HTC hero and if so, what is your take on the service? Thanks!
View 44 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if there is a widget for Google Voice that I can put on my Hero? I am using my goggle voice number to receive my text messages since I have so many texting issues, so I wanted a widget that could host my goggle voice texts.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a hard time deciding for my HTC Hero.
Google Voice
Pro's
Transcribed Voicemails (Usually not that good, but a neat feature to have)
Saved Voicemails that don't have to be deleted after a couple weeks
E-mail or SMS notifications (I don't use it, but my voicemail app doesn't do that)
Con's
Wastes battery with notifications and having to download Voicemails to listen to them.
Stock Voicemail Application
Pro's
Doesn't waste battery life for having notifications of a new voicemail.
Implemented into the phone automatically
Instant notification without wasting battery, etc.
Con's
Lacks a lot of features
Not useful at all.
I can disable Google Voice whenever, which isn't the problem. But, I am having a hard time deciding.
I have a GV account that I don't really use much, but I am familiar with the system. I know they also offer just VM so you can keep your current cell #. What I want to know is, what do people think about the Sprint visual voicemail that comes on the Hero as it compares to google's VM. Besides transcription, are there any benefits? Are there any downsides?
View 3 Replies View RelatedCan someone tell me a definitive way to get an invite?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince Google Voice Actions only runs on froyo, you'd think the Hero would be left out.
Try Vlingo, which, since the GVA announcement, is now free. It's pretty amazing. Not perfect, but very useful.
Vlingo can also be set to read your texts/emails to you (good for driving).
Calling someone using the dialer keypad will never route over Google Voice. Calling someone from the "People" application works fine. Of course I have GV enabled for all calls. Is this the way it is or is something messed up?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded and flashed Fresh 2.0d last night, and all looks good until I try to use Google Voice. I get an error message of - We have a problem, Your phone number could not be verified.
I tried it several times and no go. I then downloaded and older version of Google Voice and got it to recognize my phone, but it won't take messages for missed calls. I called my number, let it go to voicemail, and just get dead air.
Also, received an email from this morning from the Android Team at Google welcoming me and my new Nexus One. I have a Sprint Hero. What's that all about?
I have set up the Google Voice App to link to my Google voice account and I select the "ask to use google voice for each call" and the "always use google voice" options and neither work. There is no way to place calls within the app, and when I use the phone app nothing happens. I have no idea what to do. Figured out you can only do that using your contacts. Seems pretty limited, even the generic iphone app could dial direct. Oh well, maybe they will update in the future.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMaybe I missed the boat on this, but could someone tell me the benefits of using google voice on the HTC Hero?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use the Google Voice (GV) click to call (click-to-call / ctt) feature quite a bit. When it rings my phone, my OWN google voice number shows up in my phone's call log. Does anybody know if it is possible, or how, to get the click-to-call initiated calls to show up as the person that I was calling in my phone's call log?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I both have Hero's and after the recent updates our phone takes forever to dial a number. It was bad before going to 2.1 but now it's terrible. It takes about 10 to 15 seconds to actually dial out. Any suggestions? We both have Google Voice but it dials slow regardless if we're using Google Voice or the standard dialer.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI have a Google voice account, however my voicemail from my phone gets most of my messages how do I make Google voice the default voicemail?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got my invite to Google voice and I was super excited, but then I found out there were some issues with Sprint playing nice with GV. I have a couple of questions for any of you using GV with sprint network. FYI, I have the any mobile any time plan. Questions:
1. I understand that sprint treats GV as a landline call, does this mean that it will eat my minutes with every call? also, is there a workaround for this? 2. should I get a google number or keep my number 3. if i get a google number can people still call my old number? 4. I read a lot about call forwarding and some *28 and *73 options, but i couldn't wrap my head around what to actually do. I know sprint dropped some 20 cent charge, but I also read that in some situations that charge still applies. 5. can you cancel out of the service after you have signed up.
I am turning my Hero in for a new EVO and I had information in my Google Voice account that I do not want anyone at the office to be able to dig up...
I performed a factory reset (per the manual) and I want to be 110% sure that no one will be able to "resurrect" my old Google Voice app and see anything...
1) How do I switch my phone from using EVDo to 1x only? I use an Airave, and it uses more battery since it is always trying to find the best data signal from a tower.
2) How do I stop google voice from loading and running automatically whenever i reboot my phone? If i go to menu>settings>applications>running services, I can force stop it there, but I dont want it ever loading, I don't use google vioce.
Is there any way of changing the voice on these, the synthesised voice is AWFUL. Apart from not being able to pronounce English words correctly (E.g. Kew <queue> said as koo - I can't imagine what is must be like if I had to drive down Gloucester or Leicester) it's soooooo grating and harsh on my lugs.I've tried both English and American English settings but both are as bad as each other. Is there a download for new voices or one in the pipeline?I'm shocked this passed Google's quality control!
View 18 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if there are any apps on the market that I can get to change the default voice because this womans voice drives me and others mad. I havnt found anything on the market myself yet but would be grateful if anybody knew of an app that will allow me to change the default text to speech voice to a better voice like a normal sat nav.

View 25 Replies View RelatedI want to be on GV 100% (voice, txt, whatever else GV provides) the problem wiht this so far is that i get duplicate text messages - which is annoying the reason for my frustration as i see it is that GV is not as integrated into the phone the same way voice calls are - when you dial out, it goes out through my GV number, not my number from my carrier now, i could send a txt to someone using google's GV widget, but the problem with that is i lose the ability to click on the Messages button in the contact's info page (see pg 36 in the manual) and see my entire text history with that client bummer however, as a result of this whole stock-message-app-draining-the-battery "thing" i've jumped onboard the handcent bandwagon turns out, handcent stores its messages in the phones database/memory/whatever so that the text history is retained and accessible via that Messages button in the contact info page! nice! now.. if only you could send OUT to GV's system through these 3rd party messaging apps (thus avoiding GVs app and its inability to save/store txt msg history in the contacts page), we would be set!
Well, today i learned that when a person sends you a txt through the GV service (ie - they send you a text to your GV number), it appears to you as a 406 area code (see here - read TuXian's post) and furthermore, you can save that number in the contact's info page and send to that person using that number its not "perfect" because its not "seamless" -- the end user has to THINK - and DO SOMETHING for this system to work which is okay for us "techies" and "enthusiasts" - but for the general public, that's not gonna cut it but it seems to work at this point either HTC needs to improve teh Sense UI to incorporate content generated in the GV widget/app, or google needs to store its data in the Hero's file structure.... but this is definitely "kludgy" and they will need to a better job if they expect to rival apple and the iphone in a meaningful and significant way (ok, where did that little rant come from!)
I'll be gettin a Desire in July when US Cellular gets it. I've read that the Desire does not have voice search like the Nexus One and Moto Droid. Will GMN still have voice search for finding places?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust used Nav in my car while listening to my radio (FM non-Droid radio).Nav worked fine but I could not hear the Nav's voice turn-by-turn instructions. The radio drowned them out.I realize Nav is still in beta. But there is no place to send this bug/suggestion to the developers.
