I've created some ring tones and want to transfer them to my phone. I see that I need to create a folder and I don't know how to that. I'll assign them to people in my contacts from there.

I just got this phone yesterday, so this maybe a really stupid question, but when I plug the Hero into the computer via USB, there is an DCIM file for photos, but when I create a new folder (with my computer) in this folder, it does not appear in the phone's album application.

I'm honestly holding out for some of the new 1 Ghz machines to come out and do some comparisons. Anyway, I would imagine one would easily be able to make whatever folders they choose on an sd card, but on the emulated one, I can only seem to push entire folder contents or single files to the root. The adb help doesn't appear to have a command to make a folder. Is this not possible, or am I just missing something?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having some major issues after upgrading from my old Class 2 (Samsung) 16 GB SD card to a new 64 GB class 10. The card seems fine, holds data and can read/write just fine.
I was able to transfer over everything in the ANDROID folder, but when it comes to pictures and other odds and ends, I can transfer them all PC side, but when I plug it into the phone, the files are either all deleted, all corrupt (and then deleted by the file system) or partially corrupt. It is tested while in the PC and the files are not corrupt.
I even tried doing a direct image from the old SD card to the new. (using HDD raw copy tool). Verified all files were there to the kilobyte - Put the SD card in phone and poof! Most of the files, especially everything under DCIM, gone.
Is this a 4.4 issue? A transfer method issue? Or possibly a card issue? I am on Verizon GS5 and cannot root, but want to store as much of my data on the SD card as possible..
Is there something like a FileDialog available? From previous threads, it appears there isn't one.
If not, has someone written one?

a) Specify a folder/filename on storage for creating an SQLite database.
b) Specify an existing file/folder on storage card for opening as an SQLite Database.
I recently bought a new phone, and so I want to transfer the data from my old phone to my current one. The problem is that since the touchscreen on my old phone stopped working, I can't use any apps to auto-package data and apps. Is there a way to transfer the data with this problem?

I have a Galaxy Note i717 on stock ICS. I have had a custom rom on it before (CM10 nightly) but i reverted back to stock ROM. Well last night i found the Padawon ICS 6.2 ROM. So i downloaded it and put everything on the SD Card. Then went to google play and got a couple app to backup things like titanium backup and SMS backup. I am a frequent Tap Fish and Shipwrecked player so i backed them up in hopes to keep my game data. I also made a backup of current ROM. So i installed the ROM, went to the play store downloaded Titanium and went to restore apps and nothing was there. So i went and downloaded my games and i went back into Titanium backup and still no backups were shown. Is there any possible way to keep my game data when i switch roms?

This is my first post although I have been reading this forum for awhile. I just went from a Moment (too big and bulky) to the Hero.
After searching and reading Im coming to the sad realization that the Bluetooth does not function correctly on the Hero? I just wanted to do a simple transfer of the contacts from my Instinct to the Hero? I dont want to use Google or any other email. Im surprised because there was no problem transferring my contacts from the Instinct to the Moment using Bluetooth. Both the Moment and the Hero have the same Android operating system so why is this happening?
This issue has troubled me a lot, please help if you have any ideas.
- I am accessing an xml file from withing the apk, (stored in /res/ raw). The xml is read succesfully. My goal is to use this xml file as data that can be changed in the apk.
- I tried unpacking and packing the apk file with ZIP compression and the newly packed apk worked on the phone.
- I changed the xml file and packed the contents of the apk into a new apk
- "install was unsuccesful" was the result of installing the new apk
As I see it, for every file stored into the apk, there are equivalent references stored in the manifest and cert files:
for example: SHA1-Digest: YS8iSCii71WMNrK7CHy5XLXBo+k=
Do you have any other ideas of how I can store/alter information into the APK?
The database of my application need to be filled with a lot of data, so during onCreate(), it's not only some create table sql instructions, there is a lot of inserts. The solution I chose is to store all this instructions in a sql file located in res/raw and which
is loaded with Resources.openRawResource(id).
It works well but I face to encoding issue, I have some accentuated caharacters in the sql file which appears bad in my application. This

The solution I found to avoid this is to load the sql instructions from a huge static final string instead of a file, and all accentuated characters appears well.
But Isn't there a more elegant way to load sql instructions than a big static final String attribute with all sql instructions?
I'm trying to cache an image obtain from a webside. However, CacheManager.getCacheFileBaseDir() always returns null. Do I need to create the cache folder in the android emulator? if yes, how can I do it? in which directory i need to create it in?

I use google voice for texting (I have a sprint integrated google voice number), but when I go out I turn off my wifi/3g to save battery, and text with my stock SMS app. When I swipe upwards on my launcher (Nova launcher), my texting app launches (google voice). However, I would like that gesture to launch a Tasker task - one that launches Google Voice if my phone has data connectivity, or the stock SMS app if my phone does not have data connectivity. However, Tasker does not have a built in variable for data.
More specifically, I would like this task to do the following (in pseudocode)
if (%data == ON)
Launch Google Voice
else
Launch stock SMS app
Just got myself a new 16gb memory card, and want to put in my rooted Hero with Elelinux 1.6, but having trouble.Heres what I've done so far:
* I copy/pasted everything from my old membery card onto my pc desktop.
* Put new mem card into my hero - sorted out the partitions (in case I go back to 2.1 and need app2sd)
* Formatted the sd card within Android
* copy/pasted everything from my pc desktop onto my new memory card
The problem is, none of my installed apps/widgets are there. I tried to install Titanium from the marketplace, but for some reason wasn't able to - it just sort of hung on the download screen, (even though I didn't actually choose to download it?)
