Is there a way to create a shortcut to a specific setting? For example, can I create an icon on my home screen that, when tapped, will take me straight to the Screen timeout settings screen or the Wi-Fi settings screen?

Forgive a noob for what may be a silly question but I did a search and came up empty. Is there a way to create a shortcut that when pressed automagically starts an email to a predetermined person? I have shortcuts to specific phone numbers for calls and txts. But can I do the same for emails?

Is there a way on the HTC Hero to create a shortcut (icon?) that will launch an app that sends a pre-defined string (10 char) to 46645 (Google) via SMS? I do this sometimes multiple times a day and it sure would be handy to be able to do it via a single click to a shortcut.

Looked at the original 2 gb card and has lots of folders. Question is: do I have to copy and paste the old folders to the new card or will the phone automatically set up new folders? Phone's relatively new so I don't care about the existing photos and whatnot and do I create specific folders myself i.e. mp3, pics, etc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAlright guys, please bear with me as I'm new to the Droid, Android, and GPS capability in my phone. I downloaded Beautiful Widgets (totally awesome, by the way) and I just want to confirm how the GPS toggle widget works since it seems to just be a shortcut to a setting in the OS as opposed to the wifi and Bluetooth toggle widgets which do their own thing. When you tap the GPS toggle widget it, it takes you the "location & security settings" part of the OS settings. I'm assuming that at this point you either check/uncheck the "Use GPS satellites" to turn on/off the GPS chip in this phone? Can I leave it unchecked and just before I need to get some directions or navigation, turn it back on? What I'm getting at is: Can I turn it on and off according my need for it at any given moment?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up a profile so that while I am driving if I get an SMS a reply is automatically sent. I can get that pretty easy. Here is the tricky part:
I want the reply sent with the exception of 2 numbers:
1. 32665*** (Facebook) - any reply is posted to my FB account so obviously I don't want an auto reply here. The *** is different with every text thread from FB.
2. (123)456-7890 - One number I don't want the auto reply sent to.
I tried Send SMS ... if "%CNUM !~ 1234567890", but when I set that condition a response was not sent to other numbers.
How can I set it to ignore both of the numbers I listed, and how do I format the "if" conditions.
Trying to figure out how to configure my Nexus 4 to use Hacker's Keyboard with specific apps. I like the "swipe typing" for most stuff, but I want HK for ConectBot and some other terminal stuff. The phone is rooted and far I have the following apps: Tasker, Keyboard Swap for Tasker, Secure Settings installed. I've tried a few different things I've found online, but nothing has worked.

I'd like to set the ringer mode to silent for specific events in the future. It should only happen if a checkbox in the preferences is checked. I know that I have to update the manifest for the permissions and also that I can set the ringer mode with something like this:

I have a bunch of email accounts setup on my Droid. Draging down the notification panel or clicking menu then notifications gets tiresome after a while. I would like to create a shortcut for the notification panel, that I can place on my home screen. Anyone know how I can do that?
View 18 Replies View RelatedWhen I had Android 2.3.3 I could create system shortcuts to various software functions, not just apps. I could one-touch navigate to various settings in Device Settings, I could do other things, in particular navigate to Wireless Networks quickly to choose network fast.
With Android 4.2, I can't do that it seems and I am left with upper drop-down menu. Any way around that to make my access to Wireless Networks settings faster? Even, better it would be to have access to various system settings as described above.
I have work, yahoo and g mail set up on my phone. I can access G mail via the G mail label (on home screen) and my work email via the email app (also pinned on the home screen) in the app draw. I can't access my Yahoo mail unless I receive a notification. How do I create access or create shortcut to yahoo mail?

Anyone know how I can do this? I have LauncherPro and I know you can make shortcuts with it but programming those shortcuts seems pretty complicated. Also I know you can make additional shortcuts using the LauncherPro "Activities" menu but I can't find the "Network Mode" settings in that list either.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to develop a very specific app for my Dell Streak. I want the entire app to run landscape. The Streak has a tilt function that switches the whole OS to a landscape 800x480.
So I want to make an ADT to test in that uses an 800x480 display, but whenever I set the size I get no buttons. The Streak has a Home, Menu and Back button aswell as volume/mute and power, and I need to use some of them for my application.
I'm not worried about the tilting messing up my application. Not yet, anyway. Just need the test environment the right size and with buttons.
