I can not change my notification ring tone. Have gone into sound and display menu, gone into notification sound, chosen ring tone i want, and still it plays a tone that is not even in the notification sound drop down list!

I have only had my Hero for a couple of days but am quickly become frustrated. Is there any way to change the notification sound with incoming texts? Also, every time I receive and incoming text my phone also vibrates. I've looked under notifications and can't find any way to change this. I'm about to pay the restocking fee and get a new phone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set some mp3s as a 1)Ringtone and 2)Notification. Here's how far I've gotten:
1. I mounted my Hero to my computer.
2. I have the media folder with the files of RINGTONES, NOTIFICATIONS.
3. I have the mp3s that I want, in EACH folder.
4. Unmounted the Hero.
Now I'm lost, because I went to my settings to set a default ringtone for my phone calls, and they are not showing up. The only ones showing up are the ones that came with the phone. The same thing is happening for my notifications.I'm pretty illiterate when it comes to this kind of stuff, so if there is anyone out there with the patience to help me out step-by-step,
I have the zedge app and downloaded ringers and message tones, but when I set them as my defaults, I still get the hero ringer/notification sound instead. How can I stop my phone from doing that so the zedge ringer and notification sounds I choose stay?

There was a setting on the Blackberry while sleeping, the phone would be the only thing to ring or make nose. Email notifications, etc., would be silent. Is there any quick setting or app to do this on Hero?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo the one of the first thing i did when i got my hero was to stop the htc message service n went to chomp sms, awesome app. anyway i wanna change the notification / message sounds to something not in the default list. basically i wanna crop a music file on my phone and have it as a message tone like u can and i have done with my ring tone. i was expecting for there to be an option to chose what i set the tone as.
what i mean is, when ive cropped a file you get an option to 'set as ring tone' or set as 'contact tone'. no option for notification sounds. ive also played about in the chomp settings and i can only get a list up for default sounds. am i just being stupid and dont know where to look, or do i serioulsy have to keep the crap htc sounds? ive got a peter griffin soundboard, if i click n hold on a sound it pops up with set a tone and notification, and i can set that as my sound but i dont want that, i wanna crop a music file.
Hey all, so I just got a Samsung Galaxy finally in the mail. It took long enough to figure out how to put music on it, then use my music for ringtones. But when I am in Settings for Notification Ringtones, I do not see the mp3 I added but only in Calling Ringtones. Why is this? I want to use the same ringtone for notifications too!.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn my Desire I have changed my default incoming ringtone (in Settings> Sound & Display> Phone ringtone, click Ok) and when I go back in to settings the change has been saved, but for some reason when I receive a call I still only get the original impatient 'ringring' tone. The same happens even if I set the tone for a contact.
Has anyone else had this issue and know how to resolve it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use different ringtones for as many as 12 contacts so that I know who's calling me! Once in a while when the last person that has a dedicated ringtone calls me the default phone ringer set itself to that person's ringtone. I turned off my phone took the battery off and the rebooted, the problem goes away for a awhile and before you know it happens again! It's really bothersome when you think a particular person is calling you, (because of a ringtone) you answer and it someone else.

I have rings extended and have changed most of my contacts ringtones and they have stayed, but whenever I go to settings and change it and then either shut my phone off, plug it in, whatever, it causes it to go back to default. I have tried ringdroid and that seems to only work as a ringtone maker, it will not show up in the menu to change tones like Rings Extended does. I also moved my ringtones to an appropriate folder for access. I also have adw launcher now (previously Launcherpro plus-which made no difference)

just changed my rom to 10.1 cm, but even that i changed my ringtone to a different one from my sdcard, and it is saving my choice - when someone calls me - it doesn't play that song.if i change it to the deafault ringtones of the device - it changes, but not with my music files.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOn my desire I have a mp3 set as my notification ringtone so that I can check my email as soon as it is received. The problem is that the mp3 rings out for a couple of minutes which can be really annoying if my phones locked in my pocket.
I have been trying to find a way that I can silence a notification without having to unlock the phone, put in my password and then open the notification bar. Is there a way to have the phone mute the notification ring tone if i move the phone or something like that?
I've noticed today at work then with my phone on vibrate or with the sound off, I do not get any notification of incoming text messages. Same thing with incoming email on my gmail account.. I could have sworn that the phone would vibrate when I got a text the first couple of days I had it. But now I get no vibrating notification at all.
View 18 Replies View RelatedSo, I've searched for an answer but am not getting any where.. Here is my dilemma. When someone sends an email to my yahoo account, the phone vibrates and the led flashes. Perfect. But when someone sends an email to my Gmail account, I get the Notification sound, the vibration and the led flash. Not good, especially at 1 am when I am sleeping. I can not figure out why gmail is activating the notification sound and yahoo mail is not. (Probably something simple, and I am missing it...) I would greatly appreciate if someone can explain to me how to kill just the gmail notification sounds, without effecting any other notifications. Also, I have noticed that when I get a new message notification, I can open the widget on the main screen to read the email, and it shows read, but the task bar notification is still there, and when I drag it down, it shows the message is still unread. Any ideas.
