Nov 12, 2010
Just rooted my Evo 2.2 with Unrevoked...installed Wireless Tether APK...when I click the app it comes up and I gave it superuser permissions...it will start tethering...when I try to connect to it with a laptop it can't identify network...and won't let me get on the internet...is there something or some settings I need to change on the evo the laptops can connect? I see AndroidTether but it just keeps spinning and won't connect...

I used to have a samsung moment that was rooted and i used the samsung moment wifi tethering program. I just got the HTC Evo 4G yesterday and rooted it using the Unrevoked method (not sure if there is another). I then downloaded the Wireless Tether for root users. For some reason i cant get anthing to recognize it. I've tried looking for the signal with my ipod and laptop but nothing! What setting needs to be changed? I have tried to find this issue on other posts, but nothing.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered but I searched and could not find a reply. I am new to Android OS and I noticed today that when I start my wireless connection on my EVO the 3G connection closes. When I disconnect wireless 3G starts. Is this normal or have I tripped a setting somewhere that causes this?

my htc evo is rooted, i have titanium backup and you need root for that application to work so my phone is rooted. i downloaded the wireless tethering app. succesfully but when i turn on tethering it the down speed stays at 0.4kB, 0.0kbps and the up speed stays at 0.1kB, 0.0kbps. it also used to pop up as a wireless connection but it wouldnt connect. now i just re-downloaded the app and it does the same exact thing but the wireless network doesnt show up.

I just got my EVO and so far, I love it. I have a question about Tethering. It says that Sprint will charge $30/month for using this feature, yet I see it available in the system settings. So if I turn it on, i'll start getting charged, or will it simply not work? (either wired or wireless).

I made a post about this in the Froyo 2.2 features I was not aware of thread, but am making a new post here - just in case it is because of something else, like, say, the baseband update.According to DROID by Motorola - Android phone - Motorola USA I have wireless B,G connectivity. However, my DROID is currently connected to my wireless N router, which it can now see since I switched said router from the 5.8 GHz band to hte 2.4 GHz band. No, the router it not provisioned to supply N and G - it is supplying N only.

I recently bought a HTC Magic. At work, we have a secured wireless network. When connecting to this network, we are asked a username/password for the domain. Now, my question is; With my HTC Magic, how can I connect to the domain network? On my previous HTC (S710 or 720, with WinMob) , it was possible.

On the Wireless tethering app for root users only, how many MB, would be considered too much and would catch too much attention at risk of being caught.

Now that rooters are tethering wireless, I see an option for WEP in the tethering app. Seems like a good idea. Any thoughts on this and other options in the program? I guess I'm wanting to discuss a best case setup regarding all the menu options.

Is there a wireless tethering App that works with the HTC One?
I really like the HTC One, except for the glaring problem that HTC phones don't work with Foxfi. I'm going to upgrade my phone soon, and while the HTC One is my first choice, if I can't find a wireless tethering solution I'll end up going with the Samsung Galaxy S4 instead.

I just got my epic last week and had it rooted within hours. I have to say, I do love this phone. But I have noticed a slight inconvenience. I have installed the wireless tether app, and it works like a charm. No problem connecting other gadgets to it. But once I'm done tethering, and switch back to using wifi, the phone doesn't seem to want to connect to my home's wifi. I've tried reseting the phone, manually killing the tether app, and force closing the app under the applications tab in settings. But still no connection. Eventually, after 30mins or so, th phone will be able to connect once again. Has anyone else had this issue? It just seems somewhat of an unexpected problem, and a minor inconvenience. Any information on this or a possible fix would be greatly appreciated.

Here's my issue- At home, I am having trouble connecting to my secured wireless network (wpa, wap2, tkip) on my EVO. The EVO will show my network, but it won't seem to connect. I've tried restarting my Belkin wireless router, rescanning for networks on my EVO, and making sure I'm entering the correct pasword. Nothing seems to work. But, when I go to my girlfriend's house, I can connect to her unsecured wireless network. I'm thinking it may be the my router's security settings. Even though I have a strong 4G signal in my house, I still like to have the option to use my WiFi network from time to time.
Any thoughts?
Just to give it another try, I disabled my router security and even uninstalled WiFi finder...all of which did not work in establishing a connection. I'm starting to think it's my Belkin router. The only thing though, is that it played well with my Blackberry 8900.

Most of us probably use wireless tether when away from home, in a public place. Since wireless tether on the Hero doesn't support WEP, how do you prevent others from connecting to your hotspot? I was running wireless tether and somebody jumped onto the network and I didn't know how to boot him/her off.

I currently don't have a way to connect my Xbox 360 Wireless dongle since I don't have a USB to MICRO USB converter, So is there any way to do so? without any plugs? I know the Xbox 360 uses a specific way to connect wirelessly unlike the Playstation 3 that uses Bluetooth. BUT although, There MUST be a way! therefore, I am asking all of you android users with probably more knowledge than me on this.

I recently rooted my Incredible and installed Cyanogen 6.00 RC3. I liked some things about it but missed some of the stock HTC widgets and apps. The Cyanogen rom had wifi hot spot, and it worked great. I could connect more than one computer to it, as it acted like a Hotspot.
Today i reflashed to Virtuous 2.7 Rom, which is alot like the stock 2.2. I got back the things I missed in Cyanogen but no wifi hotspot. Instead, there is "Wireless Tethering" which doesn't seem to work. The latest version is installed, version 2.0.5-pre9. Neither of my computers can "see" the connection.
Is there any way I can get the wifi hot spot app that was in Cyanogen and install it on my phone with the Virtuous 2.7 Rom? wireless tethering really doesn't do what I want it to.

I need to connect to an institutional wireless network whose only security is achieved thanks to a login webpage. Once I'm connected to the wireless network, the first thing that I can do is to go to the login webpage. The problem is that most applications do not support this kind of login procedure, and therefore find no internet access (`connection problem' is written on my screen when I want to use the wireless network for surfing). Is there a workaround to this.
