I just got my Eris last night. My google contacts synch'd up fine. The problem is the export from Outlook to Google didn't carry over all the data. I have deleted all my contacts on google and was hoping the Eris would synch and delete as well. However, the contacts remain on the phone. Is there a way, other than a factory reset to delete all the contacts on the phone.

My problem now is, I can't delete certain numbers from contacts. For instance, my girl friend's number has "411" as her primary number (not sure how that happened). It wont let me delete it from her contacts card now :*(
I logged in to my gmail and needed to send email and it wouldn't suggest contacts anymore. I went into contacts and all of them gone except the ones that only had email field filled in. The groups that i created are there but no contacts.
I went into my phone and google contacts are there but they won't sync, errors out with "sync is temporary down".
All this creates another problem for me, I have phone contacts and google contacts in my Eris. Phone contact are synced to PC and all is good but I need my google contact in my gmail so I can email people and I have no way of putting them back to gmail and don't even know how to back them up.
how to delete ALL the contacts at once in my DX? I accidentally used VZW Backup Assistant vs just synching with GoogleMail, and I have a ton of contacts I didn't want. I figured it would be easiest to just delete everything from the phone, then just run a Gmail sync and be done with it.

View 10 Replies View Relatedso I created a group and misspelled the name in the silly "Contacts" application. So, I deleted the group and created a new one with the name properly spelled. Yes, I could have renamed the misspelled group, but I was in an unusually stupid frame of mind.The group doesn't show in "Contacts" on the phone, but it does in Handcent and elsewhere.I know how to NOT screw up again, and that's to NOT use the "Contacts" app every again, but how do I truly delete the group that I already created?I went into Handcent and went to send a message to a group, and the deleted group appeared there. I also went to to the application that I downloaded called "Group Ringtones" and it appeared there as well. It doesn't appear in GMail though. I didn't expect it to appear in GMail, but it wouldn't have surprised me if it did.

Since Android has the ability to sync Gmail contacts, I exported her phone contacts and imported them to Gmail online. The problem is that now her phone seems to be confused on what data to use (contacts physically stored onboard vs. Gmail contacts online). We have changed the view under Contacts to only show Google contacts, but that doesn't solve the problem. Since she no longer needs the contacts physically stored on her phone, how do we delete those WITHOUT deleting the Google contacts also... where are they physically stored on the phone?

However she now needs to return the phone for service (silent call bug) and she went to G mail to ensure all her contacts was backed up... they are not. View 17 Replies View RelatedI use Outlook/Exchange as my primary contact database, so I only wanted to sync my DX with Exchange for contacts. However, before I was able to get to my Google account settings on the X to tell it not to sync Google contacts - it had already synced them. Now, my contacts are a mess because of the damn "linked profiles", so practically every contact has some trash from my unmanaged Google contacts. Old email addresses, dupes, mislabled phone numbers (work, home, etc.) It's ugly and frustrating, since I keep my Exchange contacts perfectly edited and managed.
My problem is that I can't figure out how to delete the Google contacts from my DX other than doing it one at a time. (Since I have over 1500 contacts, that would be a huge pain.) Is there any way I can purge these? I'm a power Gmail user, so I can't just delete the entire Google account. (Not sure that's possible anyway.)
All of a sudden I had a contact mix with another and I am unable to edit that contact. If I try to add a new contact after saving it the contact does not get added to list. I don't know where it went. I did a battery pull and still no luck.

I know that I can press that down arrow and add a word but how can I delete some of the words that are already there.
