I'm not sure what happened, but my phone isn't going to sleep anymore. I doubled checked that the radio was correct and it's set to CDMA (whatever is in the parentheses) settings. It's showing that Sense is running 100% of the time. Is this normal?

I apologize if these topics were already covered in previous threads.I wasn't able to find anything related in my searches. Auto-rotation for keyboard when answering a text message received in sleep mode does not work. If I actively send a text when phone is already awake, keyboard rotates with no problem but when I go to reply to a text that I received while phone is in sleep mode, the keyboard does not rotate. Is this the norm?I am also experiencing a delay when the I wake the phone. After unlocking the phone, I used to go straight to my home page, now I get a "loading" message which takes several seconds. Is this due to the number of apps I have loaded? Is it possibly due to number of photo frames I have on my home screen or the complexity of the wallpaper?
View 5 Replies View RelatedYesterday I exchanged my Eris for a new one because the screen brightness on my old one was too dim. Now I notice that when I plug in the phone to charge, the phone stays awake. On my first phone it would just go to sleep when charging so my awake time was usually around 15-20%. When I took my new phone off the charger this morning it was up to 58% . My gf's Eris also sleeps when being charged so I'm thinking mine is the exception now. I'm thinking of calling Verizon tech support later but wanted to see if this happens to anyone else here.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI always have used handcent and recently i started to use the sms notification over the handcents quick reply. Then i changed my mind and got rid of sms notification. When i did that, now my phone wont sleep. I already read the thread where i need a new sms messenger over the regular one and i even uninstalled and reinstalled chompsms and handcent. Nothing i do can make my phone sleep, it is always at 100% I also uninstalled any new apps.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if any1 could help me understand sleep mode and how when it activates, as I'm not 100% convinced when my phone screen is off its in sleep mode.As far as the battery Sticy is concerned, I've been using handcent SMS for well over a month now, as well as disabled notifications in the original SMS program. Although the original program starts in the background when I get an SMS, which I noticed today when sending a test message to myself to make sure that handcent was defualt. It doesn't display a window or any other info.I don't use bluetooth, so I leave that off, as well as GPS unless I"m using google maps or something. Wifi is also a situational thing as well. I leave the Google Sync and mobile data on almost all the time, as I luv these features of the phone. I set disabled the auto backlight and set it to a Low comfortable level. After playing with this, I noticed that the phone made to audible notification noises about 10-20 seconds after the phone shut off, but not always. Is this the phone entering sleep mode? Or is this an app, if it is I get nothing on any screen say it was when I immediately turn screen back on.

But I installed Nonsensikal 13.2 about a week ago, love it, and was about to basically settle on this as my default rom until Saturday. Starting Saturday my phone has become non-responsive about 5-6 times. Meanin the lock screen won't come on, and the power button will not turn the phone on or off.I'm assuming this means that the phone is still on when this happens, because if it had just powered down randomly I'd think the power button would turn the phone back on I have to pull the battery out and power it back on to start working again. I don't have setcpu or autokiller running, but I am running juicedefender (in case any of that is helpful for anybody.)

When I push the end button to "turn on" the phone (i.e., wake the phone up), I get a black screen with the HTC symbol monentarily. Then, once that goes away, my background appears but nothing else except the waiting icon. I've been told that this is a conflict between something I have installed and the Sense UI.

View 12 Replies View RelatedAnybody out there see what I'm seeing? It seems as if the power/sleep button is a bit more recessed than the phone/talk button that pops out a little more. Could this just be from heavier use since I am always hitting the sleep button after phone use? Or, is this a HTC design to prevent you from hitting the button as easily. Not really a huge difference here just enough to feel if you run your finger over both of them. Wondering if it will get lower over time? Good ol' ocd flaring up again.

don't have wifi, bluetooth, or gps on.
when i check to see what's using my battery from the about phone->battery
-> Battery use i see this :

wifi 26% ( just realized it somehow got turned on through the day)
phone idle 24%
android system 12%
voice calls 9%
display 4%
dialer 2%
I can't think of anything else to mention, but PLEASE someone give me some advice as to what is making my phone stay awake!
When my phone is unlocked it stays unlocked with the screen on... did i change something somewhere?

View 6 Replies View RelatedAs the phone sits idle, the screen goes black. In order to use the phone again you must hit the power button, then slide down on the screen or hit menu. Is there anyway to remove the phone from sleep other than hitting the power button? I find this incredibly annoying that I can't just tap the screen then slide down. Are there any other options for removing it from sleep mode and if so where would I change it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been disturbed by how much battery it seems to use while it's sleeping. After much poking around and reading and using various system/battery/monitor apps in a non-methodical manner, I think I found it. I noticed that a process called 'compass' at /system/bin/akmd was persistent in utilization on my phone. While it only ever showed like 1-6% cpu utilization, it seemed to be showing it constantly. I uninstalled a 'compass' app I had DL'd from the market, but that had no effect.
With some searching, I found some threads over at XDA that discussed this process misbehaving in some recent builds, although the conversations didn't seem to be about the EVO. Nonetheless, I decided to disable the auto screen orientation (Menu -> Settings -> Sound & Display -> Display Settings/Orientation = unchecked) and lo and behold, I'm not sure the phone even uses battery in standby now! (exageration for effect...)
Now, this will require more testing, but it seems to be at the root of *my* battery issues. And I'm thinking after reading at XDA that this could be a broad problem. I'm also hopeful though, that this could be a relatively easy software fix for HTC/Google. Especially because I don't particularly find disabling the screen rotating an acceptable long term solution... but one I can live with for now, if it makes the HUGE battery gains it seems like it might.
After weeks of being afraid, i finally installed the new update to my evo last night. My phone isnt/wasnt rooted before the install...and my battery life seems to really crappy since i did the install last night. I took the phone off the charger at 7am, used it just for texting basically, sent maybe 50 texts back and fourth and now the phones at 68% battery life via system monitor.
I check the about phone and it says the uptime and awake time are the same...is this because it was changed with the new software? the phone was on and plugged in all night and its only giving me an "UP" time and awake time of 3 hours and xx minutes?
Anyone else have this problem? with the phone being awake, will this kill my battery faster? i searched and could only find problems with the eris, not the evo, any ideas?
I had this problem the first week i got the phone, i had terrible battery life and sprint reset it, and made the problem disappear...i had awesome battery life averaging 10-18 hours on a single charge with heavy useage...any ideas?
So after applying the update my awake and uptime are identical. I'm trying to see whats the easiest way to find the source of it? Im guessing its an app that I was using on 2.1 that isnt working right with 2.2.
View 6 Replies View RelatedToday I noticed some very rapid battery drain and narrowed it down to Palmary Weather. I figured out that you must use the back key until the app exits for this to work correctly. If you just press the home key while in the app, it will keep the phone awake.
OK, I was just giving a quick heads up, but might as well keep a running list to make this easy. Just please make sure you've actually proven these apps have caused this issue or else we might have 1,000 listed. Also, this is not saying that the app is causing you an issue, just the obvious ones to look at when you do have a problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI could not find it with search. I'm back to having less than 5 hours of battery before it shuts down. At 3:00 today I was at 100% charge and at 6:00 I was at 40%. The really interesting part is when I look at the battery details. I'm at 30% right now and I have 3:24:15 of uptime and 3:23:56 of awake time. Something is not letting the droid sleep. Other than stock apps I have, xtremelabs speed test, connect bot, keepass, astro file manage and K-9. The only app that should be running is K-9 and it's using 4% of the battery.
