with the 2.2 OTA coming I decidied I would go back to the stock recovery and accept the OTA, well I was able to flash in HBOOT to get back to eveyrthing stock, it now says hboot .77, and the right radio, but when I reboot, it just boot loops, and wont load up, so I hboot and put clockwork back on since I have S-OFF, and tryed loading a nandroid and the same thing.

Just FYI in case anyone wants to know: For download mode, with the phone turned off, fold the number 1 key on the QWERTY keyboard and the power button simultaneously For recovery mode, with the phone turned off, hold Volume Down, CAmera, and Power simultaneously. You navigate with volume UP/DOWN, select with HOME, Menu toggles to "Manual Mode", whatever that it.

So I decided to root my HTC Incredible today. I followed the instructions on youtube and Cyanogen to do the rooting. I managed to root it, and then it told me to update my radio (baseband) to the latest one. So I did that. It installed fine, seems to have reformated my phone, which wasn't a big issue, but somehow it unrooted or deleted my rooted files...no big deal there, either, right? Well, when I go to re-root the phone, I am now unable to log in to Recovery Mode. I will press the power button+vol down and it will go to the HBOOT window. I'll then choose Recovery, press power, and it simply goes to the Fastboot option and from there I can go back to my HBOOT or all the other options on the Hboot window. I can not, however, get it in to Recovery Mode with the little red ! mark, etc. so that I can root the phone.I've tried using ADB in shell (on my computer) and I get permission denied on everything, so I am assuming it's because the phone is no longer rooted. However, the OS boots up fine, and the baseband reads 2.05.00.06.11 which I am assuming is correct ? Though my firmware reads as 2.1-update1. I've been trying to figure this out for hours I've tried Revoked 3 and it will take over the phone, reboot it, go to bootloader, load to the Android OS while on my PC Revoked says Waiting for Reboot and then it does nothing.Again, thanks for any help you can give me!

I was trying to put my Inc into recovery mode on 2.2 and it vibrated 3 times and then completely died, lol, like the charging light went out and I couldn't get it to turn back on, did a battery pull and all was well, but tried it again and the same thing happened, any clue how to go into recovery? Also I want to reset my phone to default, is there another way instead of going thru recovery?

This is the only repeatable way on my phone. This is assuming you have the required files and SDK kit already set up and are just having trouble entering recovery mode.
Go to your C:/sdk/usb_driver folder and open android_winusb.inf.
As other instructions have mentioned, copy and paste these lines twice total - once under [Google.NTx86] and once under [Google.NTamd64]:
;HTC Incredible
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USBVID_0BB4&PID_0C9E
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USBVID_0BB4&PID_0C9E&MI_01
%SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USBVID_0BB4&PID_0C94
Start with your phone off but unplugged. Boot the phone while holding the optical trackpad. Go to device manager at your computer. You should see the ADB interface listed near the top of your devices. Look back at your phone, hit the volume down arrow to select recovery and then hit the power button.
Now here, what normally happened for me (and those having trouble accessing recovery mode) is that the ADB would dissapear from device manager after 20 seconds and something called Android 1.0 would pop up. The computer could not access the proper drivers for this and hence ADB can not communicate with the phone. Once you see this Anroid 1.0 pop up in device manager, right click on it and hit update drivers. Don't do automatic update - point your computer to C:/sdk/usb_driver folder. Hit okay and it should automatically recognize the proper driver and install it. You know you are golden when Android 1.0 is replaced with something like HTC Bootloader Interface in device manager.
In short, you are:
1. Loading the phone into recovery mode without drivers installed to force the error to pop up in device manager
2. Install the modified driver .inf file WHILE THE PHONE IS IN THE "RECOVERY" MODE
Next, unplug the phone and pull the battery. Replace the battery and boot the phone as if you were going to use it normally. Once you reach your home screen, power down the phone normally - DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY. Once the phone has shut down, power it up again as if you were going to use it normally. However, this time in the split second between the HTC Quietly Brilliant logo and the Verizon logo, pull the battery.
This was the critical step for me. If I pull the battery during the first HTC logo or after the phone boots, recovery mode will never be activated. IF I wait until that second between the HTC Quietly Brilliant Logo and the Verizon logo, it works 100% of the time. I suspect this is because the phone is detecting a failed boot and somehow enabling recovery mode.
After pulling the battery, start the phone while holding down the optical trackpad. Hit the volume down, and select recovery. This time, your computer will recognize the drivers after a few seconds and won't give you the Android 1.0 error.
You should not be able to push the files and payload and achieve root.
In summation, there are two absolutely critical components that are neccessary for me - installing the modified drivers through device manager while the phone is in the bootloader, and only trying to launch recovery mode after pulling the battery to simulate boot failure in between the Quietly Brilliant and Verizon logos.
I'd be interested to know if this is just my device or if this works for others having trouble achieving recovery mode as well.

I'm following the instructions here. http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-hero/54802-how-root-install-custom-rom-backup-more.html#post454660
I get as far as stage 6, but can't get into recovery mode. It comes up with an exclamation mark in a triangle with a picture of the phone.
As far as I'm aware everything before that stage works fine.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S Plus where, after flashing CWM with Odin, and installing cm11, I'm stuck on an infinite boot animation. But that is not the big issue. I need to enter Recovery Mode, where I have a backup, but the problem is that my Volume Up button is not working, so I can't use the Power Button and Volume Up(I also don't know what could possibly wrong with it) one to get there. So I was wondering if there is some other method to enter Recovery, I suppose by computer. I think that when I used Odin, the device restarted being in Download Mode, and I think that it hasn't to be On to do that.

I guess as I rooted my att GS3 just fine and flashed a new aokp rom and was up and running but started to have intermittent flickering. It prompted me to reflash rom with CM10 and this is were my problems began. I wiped data/factory reset, cache partition,Dalvik cache, mounts & storage format cache, and accidentally format emmc which I think is my problem. I was able to still reboot to CWM recovery but I can't do much more than that, and now I can't get to CWM recovery mode at all. Have tried to boot and reflash from ex/sdcard no good. PC doesn't recognize phone to do recovery from backup and I didn't do internal backup which I now know was dumb. Is there anything I can do to get back up and running or did I screw myself and have to get a new phone?

Hi, I have spent the last hour trying to get my Samsung Captivate into recovery mode. I have tried what seems like hundreds of different combination of power plus volume buttons with different lengths of time, but none have worked. Does any one know if there is a way to enter recovery mode from Terminal on a Mac? If so how?

Now I'm trying to install Fresh 3.2.00 from
[ROM] 9/3/10 | Fresh Evo 3.2.0.0 | New OTA Base + New Stagefright + New HTC Kernel - xda-developers
I have ROM Manager installed and Flash ClockworkMod Recovery done. I already put the fresh-evo-3.2.0.0.zip into the SD card. Tried Installing ROM from SD card, checking Backup Existing ROM and Wipe Data and Cache and it asks me to reboot into recovery. Here's the problem, it restarts and just stays on the white screen with the htc EVO 4G logo.

I just rooted my Nexus S and it was successful.
However, now when I try to install Cyanogenmod I can't get into recovery?? When I go into bootloader, at the bottom it says "Fastboot Status - FAILInvailed Command". And when I click on Recovery, the Google logo shows up with an unlocked image below it. It flashes a few times and then reboots the phone regularly.

I've just bought an Oppo phone (with MTK6589 chipset.) 2 days ago I decided to root and flash CWM recovery to my phone. Rooting gone well and the phone is now rooted. Then I flashed CWM with Mobile Uncle Tool. It said that I flashed sucessfully, I got no error. But when I reboot the phone to recovery mode, nothing happend, the phone just did a normal reboot! I tried to flash other third-party recovery mode such as TWRP and MIUI recovery but I got the same problem: the phone couldn't get into recovery. The screen with a text "Recovery mode" appeared in 3s and the phone just did a normal reboot. I couldn't even format factory, all I got was just a normal reboot. I even tried many tools on Google Play and MTK flashtool but there were no hope. Now my phone is working normally but can't get into recovery mode.

I Have Android MTK6575 with Android 2.3.6
its called " G-TiDE E60 "
before doing anything , when i enter the recovery mode it shows a picture of an Android and a Triangle next to it " Which should be the background image of the recovery mode " and there's no menus or anything , nothing appears even if i press power or volume buttons
So now after i rooted the phone , installed another recovery.img with MobileUncle , it just keeps stuck on the phone's logo and doesnt even show that triangle picture and it doesnt show anything but the phone's logo
I tried a lot of different recovery.img files but none worked, Then I tried a recovery img that worked for another guy who has the same mobile kind , it worked for him but didnt work for me
Even after flashing it with MobileUncle , still i get the same problem..
All what i edited in the root files was the boot sound and animation and i even restored the stock ones back and still the same problem
and the last_log file in System(Root)/cache/recovery Includes this
Starting recovery on Tue Oct 15 04:49:44 2013
framebuffer:
0 /Imp rarrellsk (null) (null)
1 /boot mttl boot (null)
2 /cache yaffs2 .cbe (null)
3 /data yaffs2 user.. (null)
4 /mlsc mtd mlsc (null)
5 /recovery mtd recovery (null) /scl.rd vfat /clekeblack/mmcblkOpl /clekeblaclUmmcblk0 7 /system 540s2 system (null)
PS : Oct 15 is the last day i ran the stock recovery that only shows up the background image of recovery .. So all the recovery runs after flashing new recoveries till Oct 23 arent logged in last_log..

I want to make a clean hard reset of my GoClever Tab R974.2 but no matter what I do it won't load the bootloader. I tried all pssible combinations of all 3 abailable buttons (power,vol+,vol-) and all possible pressing times from a few seconds to a minute.I also tried rebooting into bootloader via the ADB but without any luck (device not recognized). My main problem with this system is that I tried to root it and it seemed like it worked, the superuser .apk was installed, however when I tried to start Titanium backup or any other prog that requires root access, it shows that there is no root access. Then I also tried z4root, but no luck either and SuperOneClick just freezes when restaring the ADB daemon.
