I am rooted with Fresh's.03 rom and for some reason I havent been able to receive any QIK video chat requests. I am just getting a forwarded text message with a link that says someone is trying to call me.

I developed a game for Android called Jumping Bird, it writes the score obtained by the player in the database on my web server, but it does so synchronized. While it tries to write data in the database on the web, the entire game is stopped , and worse, when the server is slow, the request takes more than 5 or 10 seconds, an ANR(application not respond) error occurs and the OS tries to close the app.
I wonder how I can make that request asynchronous.There is any library that does it?
I am using Bluetooth Chat sample app from Android website. I want to pass the complete incoming message, (message format included in the code below as this website is parsing the message for me which is my job in the code as well to a function which removes the tags and extracts message name and value and uses it for further action. The readMessage string (in the switch case Message_Read) sends selected characters and omits few special characters. Following is the code from Bluetooth Chat app (from Android website).I am not able to receive the complete message in the format which I have mentioned in the code. It gets displayed in multiple lines and many characters get deleted. Any suggestion why this is happening?

A few days back I downloaded the Handcent SMS app. I am happy with the app. But I was receiving notifications both from my native app and Handcent SMS. In order to stop the notification I used Advanced Task Manager to remove the native SMS app in the name of 'SMS' instead of the disabling the notification. Instead of removing the messaging service my data usage notification SMS from my service provider has stopped. I am receiving other messages and able to send messages. I have flashed my ROM but the 'SMS' app is still not installed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my Vibrant a week after launch date, I noticed most people would tell me they had been calling me but I never received the call. Sometimes they said it would go straight to voicemail, sometimes it would ring and ring and ring with no answer and voicemail never coming on. Some times I wouldn't get text messages either, or just get the text messages hours after it was sent.
I ended up having to switch to Edge, which I really don't like because it's so much slower in my area than 3G. I know 3G is not what carries phonecalls, and that it shouldn't really matter. But my girlfriend and I both bought a Vibrant the same day, and we both have the same problem. She has gotten her Vibrant exchanged for a new one about a month ago since it ended up having a problem with the SD Card, and I had to get my Vibrant replaced a few weeks ago as well because my first one was lagging like crazy, and freezing............
I rooted my phone yesterday and haven't done anything except remove AT&T bloat ware, install launcher pro, Titanium backup, and busy box. I haven't received any texts since yesterday but all calls and outgoing texts work fine. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to un root?

I'm using GV for texting and want to completely drop my texting plan but also don't want to get hit with loads of texts coming to the wrong number. Is there just a way to prevent incoming texts altogether?
Obviously, I plan to send out a couple of "notices" of the change of number BUT you know how some people are...they just won't change the number and forget by the next time they try to text me...LOL (well sort of!) I don't want to pay per text. That could get expensive FAST!
I'm not sure if client is the right term, but what program are you using on your rooted phone to use irc chat? I've tried a couple but cant get any to work.

But lately, specially since a lot of my friends are getting android powered phones, I have grown to really liking it. I actually like using it over text messages. I think that if I can get the majority of my friends to use it I might be able to lower my text message plan. Also since I get terrible reception in my apartment I find that having people contact me through Gtalk works out a lot better since I am on wifi at home. I would like to see a widget come out for it (which is the big advantage of text messages over it), and I hope google develops it more. I would also like to see maybe video chat integration since Gingerbread is suppose to have built in support for it.
