Nexus : Android 2.2 Randomly Opening Apps
Jun 6, 2010I'm running Android 2.2 on my Nexus One. Applications like Fring, Qik, Slot Machine, Amazon MP3, Shop Savvy, Battery Time Lite, and Settings Profiles Full are opening at random. I'm use the "kill all" widget from Advanced Task Manager every time I put away my phone, but they randomly open. I don't use my phone too much throughout the day, but my battery is close to 50% by the end of the day. It is not a battery problem, however this is my second battery. (I got my first one replaced) My phone is not rooted.

Nov 11, 2010Just got my D2 yesterday after spending way too long with the Eris... so far I'm loving it, but I have one question: do everyone's phones seem to randomly open 10-20 apps in background at all times? These aren't even apps I use, like a Sudoku game I haven't tried once yet. I'm not too worried about it, since performance seems to be fine, but I'm wondering if this will affect battery life.

Jun 11, 2010I've noticed this since I bought the phone (I had other issues before such as low battery life, vibration feedback simply not working, etc - I hard reset the phone and those went away, but this is back), and I'm wondering if it's my hardware, or the software.
Basically, if I'm listening to music (Pandora or the Music app), it'll randomly hit Next song - if it's the music app, it'll be a mish-mash of fast forward and next track. This is with the phone screen off or on. When it starts happening I turn the screen on and notice it jumping all over, and I've not touched anything. Additionally, while this is happening, voice dialer opens over and over after I close it, and sometimes it'll just start making a call to the last dialed/received number (which is making me a hit with all my friends).
Finally, I say possessed because this is not consistent. For example, I'm listening to Pandora now with no issues. However, the fact that I have to even worry about this happening again (it's almost surefire in the car, for some reason, but not exclusive to there) is a dealbreaker, and my 30 day trial is still going, so I should probably decide.
HTC Magic :: Locked My Phone - Can't Open?
Oct 30, 2009I can't open my HTC magic..I locked my phone so you had to "draw" the code everytime you used it..The problem however is, that I've drawn it wrong to many times..I now have to type in my google acc. But I'm unable to do that, cause my magic is offline, to turn it online, I have to open it,. So, that's impossible..

Dec 8, 2009The only way I know this is having installed a task manager. There would be no other way of knowing this.
I have about 14 apps downloaded form the market. Not too many, but I was susrprised to see applications like shop savvy and My Backup automatically start up when my phone boots up. Whilst in the apps themselves, there seems to be no way of stopping this behaviour. Why would they do this ? Why is there no kill switch fro these apps natively for android ? It seems there is a lot of chatter about whether or not task managers are good for the platform, or whether we should just let android do it's thing on it's own. I'm really in two minds whether to carry on using a TM or not. It's for reasons such as shop savvy opening up on it's own when I don't want it to that I'm tempted to keep in, if only for my own piece of mind, and the ability to kill apps that don't need to be on. This MUST have a direct correlation with battery usage.
Anyway, I have to say that I've had most platforms, iphone, blackberry, symbian, and Android really does seem to me to be the best one yet. I am extremely happy with my Hero.

Samsung Epic 4G :: Open Keyboard - But Keep Screen Locked
Sep 1, 2010Does anybody know if it's possible to slide open the keyboard, but keep the screen locked? I couldn't find any settings connected to this, but even when the keyboard would slide (just a little), the phone would automatically turn on and unlock. I want to prevent that from happening.

Sep 11, 2010On Aug 10, 2010 I purchased an unlocked HTC Legend (A6365 - HSPA 850/1900/2100 Mhz). The phone operated wonderfully until Sep 8, 2010. At that time, the Notification bar couldn't be "pulled-down" anymore. Additionally, without rhyme or reason, when I touch the screen, the notification panel will open randomly. This renders the phone useless since every time I touch the screen, the notification panels opens. I tried a softboot and a factory reset. Neither action resolved the issue. I contacted HTC USA support and they suggested clearing the calendar data and vigorously rubbing my hands together and then touch the screen whenever the issue occurred. No success. This issue occurs whether the SIM card is installed or not. I can safely say that no new applications were installed within 48 hours of the issue starting.

Regrettably, none of these threads have any answers. HTC support then recommended for me to contact HTC Return Merchandise Authorization & Repair Center. This group (in the USA) cannot accept the phone for troubleshooting because this phone is not available in the USA. Based on the behavior thus far, I suspect this is an issue with the firmware becoming unstable. The phone hasn't been exposed to any drastic environmental changes (heat, cold, excessive dust, etc).

Motorola Droid 2 :: Home / Multimedia Dock Open Randomly - Fix It?
Aug 21, 2010My girlfriend and I both got Droid 2's on launch day and she has been having an issue today that she called me to complain about but I haven't seen it happen yet myself. I am hoping someone can help with my description of it, if not I will come back later with a more thorough description. Basically what she said is happening is randomly every time she tries to unlock the phone to read a text message or something a notification pops up and says something like you are connecting to the home/multimedia dock and then the dock pulls up. She closes it and then it wants to open itself up again. Has anyone else had this happen and know what causes it or how to fix it?

May 18, 2010Hope you guys can help. Since the 2.1 update I have certain apps which appear to be opening in the background when I didn't open them. I have Advanced Task Killer, and when I go in for example it shows Messages running, when I kill it, it will reappear in 30 secs or so, the same with MP3 store. Can these apps be stopped so they don't take up memory or what's the deal here. Thanks for any help.

Android :: Open Dialogue Activity Without Opening Main Activity Behind It
Jul 19, 2010Im writing a program that offers a quick reply dialog upon receipt of an SMS.
However, I am getting an unexpected result. When I receieve an SMS, the appropriate dialog activity comes up displaying the correct phone number and message, however there is a second activity behind it that is the 'default' activity in my program (it is what opens when i launch my application)
I do not want this second activity to come up. The quick reply activity should come up by itself over top of whatever the user was doing before.

I usually notice this by checking task killer. However, just now while using another app, I got a force-close error for ShopSavvy, which hasn't been used in several days.
Why would something like this run randomly in the background? Is it part of an update check? Any ideas?

Samsung Captivate : Apps Randomly Close - Return Me To Home Screen?
Sep 16, 2010Hey everyone, I'm sort of new to this but I figured I'd give it a shot to see if anyone might have an answer.
This happens fairly frequently actually, but I'll be in an app (any app - it's not really particular) and sometimes it'll just randomly shut me out of it and return to the home screen. As it does this, the home button blinks and vibrates incessantly until I hold down on it - at which point it brings up a sort of mini-list of six apps (the last six apps I've opened, I suppose). Once I clear out of that list, then the phone resumes working normally.
I initially thought it had something to do with the memory and running too many apps at once, so I downloaded Advance Task Killer and run that occasionally...only to find the same problem occurring, sometimes RIGHT after I kill all the apps.
Has anyone else had this happen? Can anyone help me out?
General :: Google Play Music Not In Active Apps - Errors Pop Up Randomly
Jul 12, 2012I don't even use google play music, but whenver I start my device or restart it, I get annoying pop up errors telling me "unfortunately google play music has stopped working", I have never even started Google play music and it's not in my active applications. If I do open it, it always freezes and crashes. My phone is unrooted so I can't do anything about it, and the errors keep popping up randomly.
