HTC EVO 4G :: Ability To Initiate A Call On Phone And Transfer Call To Bluetooth
Jun 20, 2010
A feature I miss on my Palm Pre was the ability to initiate a call on the phone and transfer call to bluetooth in my car or vice versa with the single click of a button.
I'm really having a difficult time with the Evo regarding this issue. Once I start the call on my phone, how do I transfer the call to my car without hanging up and calling through the car?

Is it possible to initiate an outgoing call without having the phone invoke it's default dialing screen? The point is to be able to make a call without someone knowing I'm making a call.

The Situation or: what I'm looking for:
1. Nexus 7 with Google Contacts app
2. Non-android phone (Nokia N8 etc.) or really any dumb phone paired to Nexus 7 via bluetooth.
3. Select phone number from Contacts on Nexus 7 -> connected phone dials the number
4. Talk on phone.
As I have a very extensive and nicely organized list of contacts in my "People" app (Google Contacts) on the Nexus 7, I would just like to be able to select a number there and have the bluetooth-connected dumb phone place the call, so I just need to pick up the phone and talk, not dial the number manually on the phone.
Right now, when I select a number in the Contacts app on the Nexus 7, Skype - of all things - starts and wants to dial that number apparently. Instead of Skype, I want the number to be sent to the connected bluetooth phone. Surely that HAS to be possible somehow?
Even though this should only require a simple ATD command to be sent out via bluetooth and it's a functionality that every automobile bluetooth setup can do (dial from the steering wheel etc. -> connected phone places the call), I couldn't find one single, small app that does that.
In the PC world, this is sometimes known as CTI (computer telephony integration), basically you dial a number on your Windows PC (e.g. using on-board "dialer.exe" or using Outlook, and your phone places the call). So now I'm basically looking for a simple, one-way TTI (tablet telephone integration).
I did find Tablet Talk, which looks very nice, but this one needs a client software to be installed on the phone, which therefore has to be Android, so it's unusable for my case. I'm pretty much looking for a universal solution here, i.e. Android tablet to any dumb or smart bluetooth-enabled phone (or even another android for that matter), which, given that bluetooth is a universally specified protocol, shouldn't be much of a problem, in my limited understanding.
From my point of view, to problems or "routines" would have to be solved/written in an app that does this:
1.) Get the Google Contacts app ("People") on the android tablet to send numbers via bluetooth or to our "middleware app" (to be named) instead of sending those numbers to the Skype app (which might just be a quirky configuration on my Nexus 7, but it illustrates the use case).
2.) ATD command to phone via bluetooth, sent from the tablet

I am a new SE user and am still getting to grips with using the phone's features. Could anyone advise how to transfer a call from a headset back to the phone and phone to headset? Whilst I am asking inane questions, is it possible to use the phone i.e. return to menu when in a call?

I'm looking to get an Android based phone and I thought I had decided on one, but since then I keep seeing other options and I'm not sure what to go with any more. It would be nice if anyone could point me to the best option for me. The only things I'm looking for in an android phone specifically is the ability to call, text (very little chance this won't be included :P) and GPS. I do not want a high-end one, and I certainly don't want one which has an enormous screen/form like the Desire, Galaxy S or likewise. I'm looking to spend no more than 250, but would prefer the option to be sub-200 and possible to buy in the UK. I'm not looking for a contract or branded, and want to buy it outright, so importing can be an option assuming it's not troublesome. It's important that the tech be powerful enough that the UI isn't sluggish and is fairly responsive. A nice plus would be to have WiFi capability, with it being possible to tether. The phone I was originally looking at was the HTC Wildfire, and the only downside I could find about the phone was the screen resolution. Then I seen an announcement for the new LG Optimus One and became unsure and thought there may be another better option around.

I'm having trouble retrieving / viewing the call history (X10) with a bluetooth connection to a built in car kit.i.e. missed / incoming / outgoing. The only option I get is phonebook and then have to scroll through to the required number.Have I missed something? Is this feature supported (can't find anything in the user manual) or will I need to use an app?I know the car kit supports this feature as my work Nokia (basic phone only) is fine.

I'm having problems during the "read" call of the InputStream. The call gives me a "IOException: Software Caused Abort" exception. I'm able to get the BluetoothSocket and also the able to "connect" to the device. My app. is in the client mode and sends in a "x" byte "command" to the device which is then supposed to send me a "response". The expected "response" is also of "x" bytes. This is where the error arises.. While reading the "response" i'm getting the above mentioned error.

I have my Jabra BT250V Headset paired to my Hero. Can anyone tell me...on an incoming call what do I press on the phone to transfer the call to my headset? Also is there any way the Hero can be set to auto-answer after x no of rings like my previous Wim mob phone and most Nokias do?

I use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)

I have a cheap old bluetooth headset that worked great with my Q9c. Now I want to use it with the DX for podcast. It paired and connected just fine. And I can make phone call with it. However, it won't play any media audio (Google Listen, Pandora, etc.).
In bluetooth setting the device is connected to phone audio. Does it need to be connected to something like "media audio"? Is it just the limitation of my BT headset or I can work around it by tweaking a setting on the phone?

I don't remember my DroidX always doing this, but recently after I hang-up from a call it shows the "Call Time XX:XX" in the center of the screen and I can't do anything until it goes away, which is generally 5-8 seconds. Hitting Home, Back, etc does nothing and tapping on the screen or the message also does nothing. Is this a setting I can disable? I can look at the recent calls to get the length of call if I need to see it, so I don't need the dramatic pause to give me this info.

It seems like my Samsung Behold2 the call drop ratios is extremely high, call drops out of no where and sometimes I have seen full bars on phone but still calls get dropped. Another issue that while on the call the other parties voice will stop coming, the phone will be running and shows the call timer on as well, cannot end the call if this happens, the dialers just seems like hanged. only thing to come out from this issue is either take the battery out or somehow manage it to go in airplane mode.

I have written the android application and I want the application to send the call information whenever there is an incoming call and it ends. This way I would be sending all calls to the server irrespective of size of the call log.The application just crashes when there is an incoming call i have been able to log the information about incoming SMS, but this call info logging is failing.

In my understand, Anroid app supports only SPP connection not HFP and A2DP. However, I want to initiate HFP and A2DP connection in Android app just like selecting Bluetooth device in Bluetooth Settings menu. I'm not sure it is possible to use a intent including BluetothDevice object, so the intent receiver can initiate HFP and A2DP connection. If you have a idea, could you let me know that?

Is there an app that anyone knows of that allows you to restore your call logs from a WindowsMobile format, or is there a format that I can transfer them into to be able to restore them on Android?I searched and searched and could not find anything on this.I have many cases where there are SMS threads going back several years, some containing invoicing information, and I would like to not lose them.Same with the call logs the history may be important.I've transferred them from several WinMo phones in the past, so have built up quite a history.Don't worry about size or having to put them into a format, I can worry about that, but how can I load them into the Android? Is there maybe a forum or thread that has the file formats for Android? An application that "merges" the data into Android?

I have a sprint anycom bluetooth reciever connected to my car stereo. I think it only supports the A2DP bluetooth profile (no hfp).Right now the music plays through the car stereo just fine but when I get a phone call it does not. Ideally I would like to have the phone call audio go through the stero and use the phone's microphone as if it were on speakerphone. Is this possible? My phone is a g1 running the latest experimental release of cyanogenmod rom.I would love a built in solution but I think the ability to do that is so non standard it wouldn't exist. An existing marketplace app with the ability would be great, too. I have not done any android development but I am a java developer, so a pointer on how to do it programmatically (or that it is not possible) would be great, too.

My WM touch 3G is no longer function properly, I plan to switch to Sony Experia S. It comes a problem that how all my data stored in WM transfer to android, especially appointments and call log in my old WM transfer to the new android. I usually backup my WM calendar data by PIM backup and the backup file is .csa. Originally I plan to import this .csa file to Outlook 2010, then export to Business Calendar Apps or Gmail. However I find this .csa file cannot be recognized by Outlook. how to export my WM calendar and import to Business Calendar Apps or Gmail? I would prefer to export it to Business Calendar Apps as I don't want to store my personal calendar in google server. I am also looking for how to transfer the call lot too, I try to keep it as possible.

IS there a quick way to enable bluetooth during a call? Now I have to jump to the home screen where I have a button. However, this is rather akward since I have to answer the call, then fumble with the buttons and my headset turning them on. Ideally, I would want the bluetooth to automatically turn on anytime I receive a call and automatically turn off whenever I hang up. And having a bluetooth button in the dialer gui would be nice too.

I have a weird problem,(verizon incredible) when im streaming music via bluetooth in the car and check my notification slide down bar no problem but if im on a call using bluetooth via the car stereo when i want to look at my notifications or press "2" for an automated system my screen will flicker on and off and you have to time it right to catch it before the screen dims im talking a split second i thought maybe it was the proximity sensor that dims the screen to save battery when the phone is on your ear but i have no clue why this is, i ruled out the proximity sensor cause the phone would be in my hand or on my bracketron universal windshield mount
Also if i try using the power button to bring the screen on again it does nothing but confuses the phone and slows it down
I know its not the screen timeout cause it comes back without hitting the power button.

Bought a HTC Hero and a DEH-Pioneer 7100BT bluetooth car radio. Once radio was installed my phone was detected and I have done all what was necessary to get the phone paired with the radio.
The phone is now paired with the radio and can stream music and adjusting the phonevolume also gets played through the car speakers wich all work perfectly.
The problem starts when there is an incoming or outgoing call and when I answer the call through the radio, the sounds dont go through the car speakers anymore. The opposing person can hear me but I cannot hear them because the carspeakers are silent. The only way to hear them was by attaching a headset to my phone only then could I hear them.
The main reason for buying this radio was that I would not need a headset at all. Is there a way to route sounds from incoming and outgoing calls also to the car's speakers?

I've been using bluetooth lately to connect to my car and talk while driving. When I'm finished talking, and the other person hangs up, I can't turn my screen back on. Bluetooth must still be connected because my car radio won't come back on, almost like the phone call is still going on. Only way to get my screen back on is to take the battery out.

I am new to rooting and I am using Nonsensikal 5.4 and when I am on a call using my bluetooth or a wired headset, I can't get the screen to turn back on during the call. The only one that turns it on is the end button and that hangs up the call. Sometimes I need to get a number or some other info off the phone. So I have to hang up get the info and call the person back. Is there a setting I can change to fix this. I already tried trackball wake in the cyanogenMod settings.

First, my specs: I have an HTC Evo 4G LTE, software, firmware is current. I am using a Plantronics M50 earpiece. The problem: I have it in a Sprint car dock while driving and I make a couple calls on my way home from work using my Bluetooth. It started about 2-3 wks ago. I'll start a call and while the phone is ringing on the other end, it goes silent in my ear and I can hear it through the normal ear speaker on the phone (speakerphone doesn't kick on). I have to turn my Bluetooth off then on again to re-establish a connection. Then it stays on through the call. It happens when I answer a call as well. Happens when not in the car dock too. It doesn't do it twice in the same call, after reconnecting the Bluetooth, the call stays connected. I have already unpaired the Bluetooth and did a simulated battery pull (battery is not removable) and hard reset to clear data then pair it up again, but it still does it. I have a feeling that it's not the Bluetooth, but something in the Bluetooth software in my EVOLTE.

Basically my Samsung Galaxy S2 gives me unlimited calls to mobiles/landlines and I want to make A LOT of calls throughout the day. I have a plantronics pro uc bluetooth headset which syncs up with my phone. I can send SMS and remote access the phone (too slow and clunky to make calls fast and simply).
What I want to be able to do is dial a number from my computer and my phone start call it. Essentially just want the phone on my computer. Paste a number in/dial it etc... click a link and the app/whatever call it.
(P.s. a remote desktop is not the solution as it is too slow - I tried that with MyMobiler. I have a skype number and can pay a small fee for unlimited landline calls but would have to pay for mobiles so this isnt a solution either).
