I purchased an HTC evo today and I succesfully transfered some music to the evo. But I cant manage to play h264, mp4 or mov videos on the phone. where should I place the video files? root, media, create a video folder, or some where else?

I've just got an x10i, 2 days ago, mainly for the huge screen.
The problem I have is films only play as tiny thumbnails, about 1 x 1.5 inch.
I've transferred by drag and drop and via media to go, even tried setting defaults, but to no avail.
I've figured out most things with my phone but not this.
It's really infuriating as I've bought a phone for it's big screen only to watch small sized clips.
When I connect my EVO to my computer and open the drive, I can find pictures I have taken, but cannot find videos. How can I transfer the videos I've made from the Evo to my PC? Thanks.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI pluged it to my pc today to transfer some videos that i took with it but for my surprise my pc did not recognize it neither did the window poping up appear to asked me if i wanted to use it to charge only, disk drive, htc sync etc I dont know what went wrong cus it used to work fine the other days I also checked the settings and the ASK ME option is checked.

I successfully transferred one video via dropbox, but it seems to be having trouble with the current one I keep trying to move, maybe due to it's larger size, and it seems like it should be obvious to just plug in the USB and transfer it. The trouble I am having is that once my pc finds my SF and I "mount" it, and I have tried this via mass storage and via the media sync options, my pc will only let me view and transfer the files from the sd card, but apparently the videos I record with my phone are not stored on the sd card.
I need to know how to a) make the videos/pictures store on my sd card rather than the internal memory and b) transfer the videos/pics from my phone to my pc via USB. Usually I can figure this stuff out, but after searching all day, and reading tips, and going through the manual, and installing samsung's usb drivers, I have had it and need a nudge in the right direction.
I've been trying to get a couple episodes of weeds on my DX (great show btw) and I've been having trouble with the playback. I used this guide exactly to convert them .How to convert videos and transfer them to the Motorola DROID X - Know Your Cell.The quality of the videos is great and so is the sound, its just in high "action" areas of the video its pretty choppy and laggy. One thing I should point out is that the videos original files are smaller than the droids highest resolution, but they still look great on the screen.

One of my main queries is though, file transfer from my Galaxy to my MacBook Pro - why can't I see previews of what I'm transferring? I have to transfer the file to my MacBook, and then decide if I want to keep it or not because that's the only way it'll reveal what it is. I thought I'd be able to SEE what's on my phone to then be able to select what I want to transfer. But all I see are file names which as you know are always just like IMG_0000786597.jpg
My Evo wont play any videos, i've tried through crackle, tru tv app, sprint tv, you tube, on and on and on. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the apps, and updating profiles and software. I am real close to throwing a $200 phone against the wall! (breathe) Has anyone else had this problem? And do you know of any fixes for it? On Sprint TV, i get an error message saying This channell is not currently available. On other sites/apps, I get an error saying only that this video can not be played.

I tried to figure out why through hours of researching and different video players, but I got nothing. The site is Welcome to CrossFit: Forging Elite Fitness and I can't seem to get 90% of the .wmv videos working at all. Sometimes some of them work and I can't figure out why. I thought it was the frame rate because the occasional lower quality one (non-widescreen) work fine. Most are high quality and these are the ones I want to play. Can anyone get this one to work as an example: http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/Games2010_ Oconnor Speal _Tapering.wmv? I can successfully convert them, but I want to view them right from the web with no adjusting.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my HTC Desire for a couple of months now and it's truly a great phone! Today my 32Gb micro SD card arrived for it and I set about moving my media onto it. I wanted to see if I could watch movies on my phone so I set about converting one from a full HD .mkv file to an .mp4 using handbrake. I read up on what the best parameters are and stuck to them religiously.I can play other videos on it no problem but when it comes to my own it just says that it can't play them, I've tried Meridian (which seems unstable as hell btw) but that doesn't help. My file is a couple of gigs in size when the encoding is done but I'm not short on space so that's not such an issue. I don't know why the phone is being so picky, can anyone please suggest what I might be doing wrong?

I didn't spend a lot of time looking into what it takes to play videos but I assumed it would be pretty straight forward and "drag 'n' drop." I've loaded a .mp4, .avi, and a .mkv. So far, none of them work. I didn't try them all at the same time (mostly because each time I just threw the video on there, assumed it would work, then found out later it didn't) so they have all been different videos, thus shouldn't be corrupted files. What do I need to do to get them to play?

It doesn't matter what size, bitrate, video format, or any other setting I can think of, neither the emulator nor my G1 will play anything I try to encode. I've also tried a number of videos from the web (various video formats, bitrates, with and without audio tracks, etc.), and none of those work either.

I got a "Sorry, this video cannot be played" when I try to play it on my Droid.I also tried downloading an .mp4 file from a YouTube video (as converted by file2hd.com). But I still get that error message.I know this topic has come up before and it usually seems to be the way that the file was converted rather than some kind of setting on the Droid. What else should I try?

When I search in non-mobile you tube for videos, I can find them but I can't play them. What happens in froyo when we get flash support? Do we get unlimited access to you tube videos or no luck.
