View 34 RepliesIs anybody else noticing a huge decline in battery life after going from 1.0.1 to 3.1.01??? Saw another post that blamed it on the new FB app (which did seem to drain dramatically), so I uninstalled it and still doesn't improve battery life all that much. I don't have active sync on or anything, so I assume it's either the ROM or Froyo?
View 15 Replies View RelatedAnyone else seeing worse battery life after going to froyo? I now get about 12 hours on limited use (a few texts and maybe a couple phone calls). Prior to the froyo rom (fresh 3.1.x), I was getting about 20+ hours on moderate use (also a fresh rom). I've made sure that google talk isn't running and the awake time isn't an issue. I currently have setcpu running without any profiles active and set it to conservative--no overclocking. My current setup is fresh 3.1.2 rom with Kingxkernel #3.

Can anyone tell me why smartphones are great for everything except being a phone.I struggled with 2 HTC Evos for about a month.Really poor call quality, earpiece was crap(tinny,blown speaker sound) finally returned it and went back to my Samsung Exclaim for the time being.Wow, what a difference.My old Exclaim is crystal clear, at ALL VOLUMES.Told by radioschack employee to just turn the Evo down when it distorts he was right but then you couldn't hear, especially with any background noise.I will probably try the Samsung Epic in a few weeks. My wife has the Samsung Intercept and compared to the EVO earpiece is 120% better.Why don't they put quality earpieces in smartphones?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI just rooted last night and today my battery life has been horrible. It has been mostly idle for the entire day (since 6am, that's when i woke up) and yet it is now under 20% (at 5pm). Anyone have similar issues? Before it would last at least 20 hours...
View 7 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else notice that when you receive or make a phone call the picture you have assigned to that contact looks horrible? I've taken pictures with my evo to use for contact pics, and have transferred high quality pics from my computer but no matter what I do the contact pic looks poor quality when they pop up? If there is a fix for this or I'm doing something wrong someone please let me know.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Moment, and the battery life is horrible. I always have problems with my battery running out before the day is over. That being said, my friend and I are in an engineering class and are working on a solution to the battery life issue. We have a survey we created and we really need some more results on it. We'd really appreciate it if some people would take it. Here is the link: Small Electronics and Battery Life Survey.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI send lots of text video messages. Before the 2.2 update, the MMS capable video had a decent resolution up to 30 seconds. Since the update, the resolution on the MMS setting (or the low setting) is horrible and almost too grainy to be visible. Is there any workaround? I tried taking just a very short high res. video but it won't let me text it.

View 46 Replies View RelatedTHE SPEAKERPHONE IS CRAP! It just sounds tinny and horrible and distorts all over the place. It has no mid-tones or bass (as much as phones can have bass). Even my little old Nokia does speakerphone 100 times better, and that this is no super-phone. So, is there some kind of graphic equaliser app that can fix this? Please?

Anyhow, I am using Outlook 2007 (non-Exchange) with my company email and Cals. I was wondering if there is a DIFFERENT method for transferring my items from the PC to the DX that anybody has had luck with.
1. Not interested in syncing from Outlook to Google to the phone. PITA.
2. CompanionLink Pro @ $139... wow, you would think it works but it doesn't (and yes, I am transferring in Charge Only mode as described).
3. Their support is close to the worst in the industry. I have now emailed them twice in the last week with zero response.
4. Sometimes the sync works. Sometimes not. Today is a not day. Synced four times and nothing. I have even purged phone contacts and cals to start over. Not working.
All Access, however really hating the battery drain I am getting with the updated app. My battery drain problems started immediately after updating from the pre-All Access version which I never had trouble with. Now it hogs all my battery. Even overnight when I'm sleeping, and the app is not be used and fully exited using the back button, I am getting a loss of 10% battery life per hour. Actually using my phone is even worse. In fact it's rather unusable at this rate of drain. In about 45 minutes of GPMAA use, it lost 25% battery life!
Unchecking the Google Music sync from their account section in settings. I did that, but still getting horrible battery life. Short of uninstalling this app, and losing a service I am really starting to like, what can I do?
I can get a few minutes of 4G signal at my home per day, but when it drops out and 3G takes over, the signal will flatline and boot me offline. My 3G speeds are usually around 56-150Kbps or less, and my 4G speeds are around 2.5 Mbps What would cause this ? According to WiMax location sites online, my nearest 4G tower is .52 mile away. I would think that if I actually get 4G signal, then 3G would be constant. Turning off 4G doesn't help either. Is there some setting that I could have turned off that would cause this ? Running stock EVO on 2.2 all the latest updates
View 8 Replies View RelatedI know that this was asked before, but he one I found only pointed the person to the android sdk and documentation and I'm sre that there must be an easier way for doing what I wanna do.OK, so I have a mobile site I built specifically for his purpose, which is sitting online as we speak, but I want to put it in an app.so basically I want to have something with a browser in it that will only load my site (hiding teh URL off course creating the illusion of an app).Is there any way to do this quickly and easily with having to install eclipse and all that? Maybe a freestanding application that can just "frame" a site like that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a complete beginner at this HTTP stuff so bear with me! I have looked around for tutorials and example code to try and log in to an online banking system. Here is my code. I believe I may have to add some auth code in the header or some more parameters.

My app builds up a custom screen as dictated to me via the users 'application'. This means that I can end up in the situation where I have a parent scrollview and somewhere down the heirachy I can have a listView or a multiline TextView. Both of these scenarios continue to work fine under 2.1, however are broken in 2.2 (both device and emulator). The symptoms are that the child (list or textview) is unable to scroll using touch gestures although they can be scrolled using the keypad. Has anyone else experienced this behaviour and/or have a work around?? It appears that the onTouchEvent function in View has been changed substantially but I am currently delving into the code...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a layout that is something similar to how the android market is...where say under comments there is what appears to be a ListView but it does not scroll (the whole page scroll but not the comments). I'm not sure if its even a ListView but I want something that looks like the list view (ie. have those divider bars and what not but NOT SCROLLABLE). There are people suggesting to use a LinearLayout instead of a ListView but I also what the items to be clickable and open a new activity. Please help?
My current layout tree is like so
<LinearLayout>
<ScrollView>
<RelativeLayout>
I am looking to put content inside the RelativeLayout.
Just wondering if anyone knows of a way to invert scrolling so that you swipe down-to-go-down and up-to-go-up instead of the way it is by default: up-to-go-down and down-to-go-up?The only reason it's a problem for me is that I have a laptop and use two-finger-scrolling on the trackpad (down-to-go-down/up-to-go-up). This means that when I switch from one to the other, I keep trying to go the wring way with my swipes. Confusing. I looked through all of the settings on the phone and tried googling and looking through the available apps but to no avail.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a gallery and when a image is selected, I want to start new thread (for loading other images). But I don't want to do it while the gallery is scrolling. How can I know the state of the gallery and if it is still scrolling? I can't use "setCallbackDuringFling(false)" because I have a textview under the image that has to be updated during the scrolling.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a list Activity 4 which i have extended the BaseAdapter and the getview looks like this.
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
View row=null;
for(int i=0;i<10; {
row = convertView;
if(row==null) {
LayoutInflater inflater = mContext.getLayoutInflater();
row = inflater.inflate(R.layout.parsed,null); }
TextView id = (TextView)row.findViewById(R.id.id);
id.setText(idvector.elementAt(position));
TextView photo = (TextView)row.findViewById(R.id.photo);....
I have a ListView with custom rows. When any of these rows is clicked, the ListView's data is regenerated. I'd like the list to scroll back to the top when this happens.
I initially tried using setSelection(0) in each row's OnClickListener to achieve this but was unsuccessful (I believe because the ListView loses its scroll position when its data is invalidated - so my call to
setSelection is undone. I still don't understand how the ListView decides where to scroll to after invalidation, though).
The only working solution I know of was given by Romain Guy here: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/127ca57414035301
It involves (View.post)ing the call to _listView.setSelection(0). I found this to perform quite poorly.
The newly generated list shows up with its scroll location unchanged and there is a considerable delay before it scrolls back to the top.
Is there any better way to achieve this functionality?
In one of my projects I've got a ListView with hundreds of elements. But when scrolling through this list I get the following error:
CODE:.....................
I currently have one Scrollview which contains a table layout and one list in my activity. Now my problem is that I wanted to move both of them(Scrollview and list) together and with proper synchronization...
So if scrollview is being scrolled then listview should also scroll with the same distance, and vice versa...
I'm currently working on a game for android.
I have three ImageView's next to each other, they're positioned next to each other using the "android:layout_toRightOf". The views are located within a RelativeLayout tag. Each of these views are centered into the middle of the screen using "android:scaleType="fitCenter"" and they fill the entire screen.
I'm attempting to implement a horizontal scroll from one view to another so that I basically get one view on my screen at a time.
Here is the code that I'm currently using
CODE:................
What I'm currently getting is three images next to each other -- but sometimes they take up less then an entire screen. I want both the left and right padding to be correct, so that I can only see one image at a time.
I have an ImageView that is twice the height of a normale screen ( 960 dip). I would like to scroll it nicely up and down on the screen. The bottom of the screen should contain a bottom. I have tried various combinations of ScrollView and Imageviews without any success. I have also thinkered with the :isScrollContainer attribute without results. Anyone knows how to do this?
