Is there a way to make you phone number private on the HTC Evo through settings?
If not, how can one turn it off and on on the fly?

I just got the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate. Seems like a nice phone. Every phone I've had in the past (Nokia, Sony, etc...) has always allowed me to hide my number so that the call display on the receiver's phone shows my call as 'private'. This is useful for when you don't want certain people to have your number when you call. Is there a way to do this on the Galaxy S? I couldn't seem to find any setting how.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to make certain apps private, hidden or locked on the menu screen. I have lil brothers and nephews who I don't mind playing games or watching movies on my phone; but I don't want them getting into certain "adult" apps or my fake call and sms apps. I believe it's possible to do b/c there's an app called Call Log (Secret Monitor) that has in its description "No icon in the list of applications. Completely hidden at you eyes". I downloaded it just to check and it really doesn't appear in the menu. So does anyone know how to do it for any app that we choose?

I have to write a video player which plays the content from the net.Some times the app downloads the video content, and this downloaded data should be private to only my app. No one should not access it.Simply saying providing security to my own content (though the content is taken from the sdcard, it should not be playable).

I want to make a sdcard folder private to my application same the way we have /data/data/<app> directory. and prevent the access of that folder from other apps.

I just switched from palm to the hero. Palm had the ability to make certain contacts and memos private. Is there a way to do that? Also with photos or other apps to lock them?That was a great feature of palm.

Or otherwise: a list of friends that may see my caller ID, everone else not.
The reason for this is easy: I use my android phone on work but I don't want all customers have my private number just because they receive a call from my mobile phone.
I tried adding *31# before a contacts phone number which actually works, it disables the caller ID for the next call, but incoming numbers don't match the deposited phone number in the phonebook so I can't see who's calling I just see a number.
Is there a solution to my problem? If there isn't an automatic way to do this, maybe there is a quick-switch application I can place on my phone: hit once to toggle caller ID on/off...
Is there a way to turn on caller id? When I get an incoming call the caller id says "no caller id" instead of a number and name.

I hate that's all I see is unknown caller title and the generic icon show up I actually have to struggle to see the very small phone number of the general customer phone number calling in. my recently called list is full of unknown callers. all I see is just those general icons an unknown callers I have to struggle to see my recently call list phone numbers. Any way to set up.just to. show me the callers phone numbers?

I know you can make them clearer by using syncmypix but they are ridiculously small for this large of screen. Still love my SF though! Just one of the little things thats kind of annoying. Anyone know of a good way to store private documents on the phone SD? I'm considering moving some of my documents to my phone SD....this is stuff that could potentially lead to ID theft if I ever lose my phone So I was wondering if there's any way to password protect / encrypt folders on the SD card. If I lost my phone.....I don't want a thief accessing documents in that folder. So it would have to work against him reading files off a card reader on a regular computer as well While we're at it.....between Mobile defense, Lookout and Wave secure, can any of them wipe the SD card remotely?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been having 4G lag issues since day 1 with my EVO. I made a thread about it, and have updated it as needed.
I decided to make a video detailing my 4G lag issues, and during the filming of that video, my 4G would not turn on using the Wireless Settings page. I had to use the toggle to make it turn on. I shrugged this error off as just a bug, and moved on with life.
However, I've also been planning a factory reset for some time, and finally did it Saturday. Since then, I've tried several times to turn on 4G from the Settings page, and each time, it fails.
If I go to the SwitchPro widget, and toggle 4G there, it works just fine. I can turn it OFF just fine from the Settings screen, but I can't enable it. If I enable it with the toggle, and then disable it...I can immediately go back in and re-enable it from the Settings screen. It's almost like the toggle shows the Settings screen the right way to do it...and the Settings screen is now able to turn on 4G. After a few minutes of being able to turn on 4G, it stops, and is unable to. It's very inconsistent.
So before and after my factory reset, my EVO has shown difficulty in enabling 4G from the Settings screen. Does this sound like grounds for a repair/replacement ticket from Sprint?

View 23 Replies View Relatedi searched for long time to use sd card as internal storage i tryed lot of a2sd app but it not worked like i wanted, until i try mount2sd, i have a 64gb memory card, i made a fat 32 partition of 5gb and a 50 gb partition in ext-3 for install app, i moved all android system in, but now in setting i have the 16gb of internal storage (who is nearly empty because all was moved to the ext-3 partition) and the 5gb fat 32 partition for the sd card. I send you pictures in attachment you can see what i talking about.
and the 50 gb partition is not here it is invisible it is just visible in titanium backup or root explorer i made a shortcut in the home screen. but now the question is: is there a thing to do like in xposed module or modify a text in system or anything to do for make the 50 gb ext-3 partition visible in parameter/setting? Can make an app or an exposed module to make it visible?
because i see you can make custom rom, i see in volt.stab but don't know what to write for add the partition... is possible or make it possible? or its to hard to make?
How to fix the "Quick Settings" widget to turn on the GPS so it will work? (any suggestions)?Third Issue: I notice if I use the "Quick Settings" widget to turn on the GPS nothing that uses GPS will work, the GPS logo on the top will appear and disappear after few seconds. the only option I have is to go to settings -> location -> etc.

When someone that I don't know calls my HOUSE from their HOUSE, my caller ID shows the name and number. When someone that I don't know calls my EVO from their HOUSE, I only get a number. I realize that it is probably a SPRINT issue, but does anyone know why Caller ID on our wireless phones does not work like our HOME Caller ID? I realize that if someone is stored in your address book, that their name WILL come up. But was curious why we can't get a name from strangers. Believe it, it would prevent me from picking up a lot of cell calls if I knew who it was.

View 19 Replies View RelatedWhen I look at the display on Android devices where the OS is newer than Gingerbread, my eyes start hurting from the strain. For example, I tried updating my Tmobile G2's ROM from Gingerbread to ICS , then to Jellybean and after hours of tinkering with the display settings my eyes were still hurting. When I gave up and went back to Gingerbread, then my eyes were fine looking at the screen.
My question is: what exactly changed in the display settings in the newer version of the Android oS? Also How can I use an OS like Jellybean or ICS, but make the screen display with the brightness that was available via Gingerbread?I did try the ADW Gignerbread theme, but that mainly changes the look and feel of the icons, not the display
When I receive a call or a text message from someone it displays their phone number instead of their name that is in my phone book. How do I fix this as I have tried goggle and the user manual and can't seem to find it. Before I synchronized my Outlook contacts it was working fine but since adding my Outlook info I can't tell who is sending me a text or phoning unless I recognize the phone number.

I have done 6 factory resets since getting it and after the last two I have added no apps to it. I have plenty of memory left but the message still pops up and GMAIL sent and Trash is empty, I have 29mb in use out of 7486mb in Gmail in use and i am about to walk into a Verizon store and beat someone senseless with this piece of crap phone. The INC is the only Android+Sense phone doing this right? Now my Bluetooth wont turn on or off. The widget and menu+settings doesn't work.
