I am getting my new evo today and I want make sure I don't lose anything, most importantly my slingbox app i just dropped $30 on. I use appbrain. Is there a back up i should download? I did save my contacts to my sd card and gmail account already.

I have a Nokia dumbphone I been using for the longest time from T-Mobile but I made the switch to get on big red and use the droid. So far so good. Any ideas how to transfer the contacts from a GSM phone onto the droid?

So I want to give the damaged one to the misses and I want to transfer everything from it to the new one. And then wipe the old one. I just pre-ordered the EVO yesterday. Since this is at Radio Shack, I am assuming that they won't be able to transfer the contacts from me pre to the EVO. Is this correct? I decided to go ahead and fix all my contacts on gmail anyway just in case. This gives me something to do while waiting for my EVO.... Will the Evo import all my contacts when I log into my gmail account and set it as my main sync account? What I am doing is this:
1. I installed the 'contacts to email' patch using preware and exported all my contacts as a vcard file. This is probably a good idea anyway. I don't completely trust "cloud" storage.
2. I sent myself the email and then imported this vcard file into gmail contacts. This resulted in about 350 contacts in gmail. I'm now working through them doing edits and combining duplicates. Is this the best way to prepare my contacts for the EVO?
Have been using Palm for many years with multiple contacts, which transfered over with first name rather than last-any ideas? Multiple memos, and the transfer by sprint resulted in one big file. Getting used to the phone, if I could only use my multiple memos!

View 21 Replies View RelatedSo I have an iPod and, as such, all of my music is in iTunes. But I'm wondering what the easiest way to transfer music to my Evo is. When I connected my phone to my desktop and looked around in the Music folder, I noticed that all the sample songs were organized as such:
SD Card>Music>Name of Artist>Name of Song
Now, if iTunes organized all it's music that way, this would be as simple as ctrl+c and ctrl+v. But it doesn't. It's all like:
Music>Artist>Album>Song
The Evo doesn't recognize songs organized that way. So, without making new folders for every artist and copy pasting each song into them, what's the easiest way to transfer music to the phone?

What is the best way to transfer the data I want to keep, while not transferring data I don't need onto my new phone. My sd card seems to have a lot of files on it other than just my pictures and videos. I have titanium backup with all of my apps and data backed up. Should I only backup and restore user apps? Or I should I backup and restore user apps + system apps? My main concern is transferring things I don't need on my new phone. I don't want to clutter it up with useless files and data from old apps.

I am going to get a Droid Razr Maxx soon. I have the doubletwist app for my music on my current phone, the droid 2 global. On doubletwist all my music is there, but the file is not there for that song on my computer (this is the case for about 300 songs). These songs, without the file on my computer, play perfectly fine on my phone so will I be fine to get my new phone and go home and open doubletwist and sync the music to my new phone without any problems?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo my old HTC Senesation 4G had to be replaced due to the screen being BLACK (I got rain in it and it went to turn it on and the screen curled up BLACK and can't view anything). Phone WORKS because you can press buttons and swipe on the screen and you can see things happening.. Just nothing to view.
Phone is set to CHARGE so I can't just plug in the cable to the computer.I want to transfer the content (contacts, txt messages, voice recordings, pics, videos) to either the NEW phone (HTC ONE), transfer it to a PROGRAM on the computer and then transfer those to my HTC ONE.
There ARE android software to recover and view content on the computer. The problem (I haven't downloaded any of these software tho) is that they all seem to require the phone be read from the computer. But when the phone was set to CHARGE, when you connect the cable it just tries to charge the batter in the phone rather than DISK MODE.
I have a mobile banking app on my phone. The app is in the store and can be downloaded, but it has to be activated in order to be able to use it. So every time time I change the phone (and I do that once or twice a year), I have to go to the bank to get the code. I understand that this is a security measure. However, I'm so sick of this, that I'd like to try solving it.
Now, I'd like to be able to transfer that app to another phone without going to the bank/getting the new code. Is there a way to do this?

I dont like having to go to my comp to edit the album or name of a song. I was able to do this on my N81 and my hero is supposed to be an upgrade to that and I dont want to feel like I upgraded everything but my music support.
