HTC EVO 4G :: How Often Do You Reboot?

Jun 9, 2010

So, I'm new to Android and this whole WORLD of things lol. How often do yall restart/reboot the phone? Kind of on-topic, but has anyone had any issues turning the phone right back on after turning it off? I've had this happen twice, where the phone wouldn't do anything, power button useless. This is after the phone shuts down and I try to turn it back on. I have to pull the battery to get the power to turn on.

HTC Desire :: Not Being Able To Reboot

Sep 15, 2010

I have an HTC Desire rooted with Open Desire. Today I just woke up, opened my device and I always got an Android system error message, and nothing would load. I tried rebooting, I took out the battery, I put a different SD card, I restored an older backup and I wiped all the data! Now it's always stuck at the green hTc screen.

Android :: AppWidget Changes Id After Reboot

Dec 31, 2009

I have a strange problem, on a few devices. I have developed an AppWidget, and it uses a database to store the configuration for each instance of the widget. The widget id is the key in the database.Everything works on most devices, but I got a bug report a couple of days ago. A user said that the widget never worked after reboot. The user who was very helpful sent me a log from his phone, and I could then see that the widget got a new id each time he did a reboot.

Android :: Trying To Use New Reboot Function _ Bug?

Aug 10, 2010

I'm trying to use the new reboot function defined here: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/os/PowerManager.html#r. but I'm running into permissions issues even though I have the REBOOT permission in my manifest: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.REBOOT" /> The error I see in logcat is: E/Android Runtime( 5272): java.lang.SecurityException: Neither user 10059 nor current process has android.permission.REBOOT. The REBOOT permission doesn't show up in the list of permissions for my app even though other permissions do. Is this a functionality that is still protected even though it's now a part of the public API? All of my testing so far is on a Nexus One with Android 2.2

Android :: Duplicate SMS Sent After Every Reboot

Jun 18, 2010

I have one specific text message that I sent to a buddy of mine last week that gets re-sent to him every time I reboot my phone (Incredible). It's always the same message and it always shows in the messaging app as the last message sent to him, but it only shows once. The previous occurrences do not show. Seems as though it is not getting a confirmation that the message was sent, so it retries it on a reboot. But my friend gets every one. I have uninstalled Handcent and it still happens with stock messaging app.Anyone know a way to clear pending/unconfirmed SMS's?

Will there be any issues with running this recovery file again. Or Am I missing a step to get into recovery. HTC EVO 4G :: Bluetooth Causing A Reboot?

Sep 28, 2010

Everyday I go to the gym and turn on my Motorola bluetooth headphones (Amazon.com: Motorola S305 Bluetooth Stereo Headset ) and then click on the Bluetooth widget on my EVO and after two beeps, I start hearing the phone through the headphones.

When I'm done, I tap on the Bluetooth widget and the phone freezes and then reboots. Sometimes it comes up with Bluetooth still turned on and when I tap it again, it reboots again. Every single time.

When I go to Settings>Wireless and uncheck Bluetooth it often does not reboot but sometimes it does.

Since it takes for.freakin.ev.er to come back after a reboot, I'd like to streamline my process and skip the reboot part.

(Not rooted. And I've never used the Bluetooth function for anything but this one headset. When not using headset, I keep Bluetooth turned off.)

General :: CM Causes Reboot Loop

May 7, 2014

I installed CM using CWM onto my HTC Deluxe. I tried 4 different nightlies and the 10.2 stable and after installing any of them, I get this... it reboots into the white htc screen with a quick vibrate. Then it goes black for a second and reboots again. No CM screen or anything!

I've tried flashing it multiple times, doing factory resets, clearing cache and dalvaic cache. I am at a loss as to what to do next. with the 10.2, instead of rebooting it just gets stuck at the HTC white screen!

Android :: Adb Reboot Doesn't Complete

Oct 20, 2010

I'm trying to run a few test packages on my device through a shell script which runs every night and for that I need to run the adb reboot command. My problem is that the 'adb reboot' command does make the system reboot, but it never completes (I need to do a keyboard interrupt if I run it manually in order to issue another command) I was wondering if there is anyway I could make my script go to the next command after a certain fixed amount of time? What could be going wrong with the adb reboot command? Sorry if my question is vague.

HTC EVO 4G :: Installing ROM - How To Reboot In Recovery Mode?

Sep 18, 2010

I'm really lost right now. First I did this-
xda-developers - View Single Post - [GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G
Which I believe is rooting for my phone since it was 2.2 when I first received it. Now I have this.

Android version
2.2
Baseband version
2.15.00.07.28
Kernal version
2.6.32.15-g746f4f0
htc-kernal@and18-2 #58
Build number
3.26.651.6 CL218634 release-keys
Software number
3.26.651.6
Browser version
WebKit 3.1
PRI Version
1.40_003
PRL Version
60670

Now I'm trying to install Fresh 3.2.00 from
[ROM] 9/3/10 | Fresh Evo 3.2.0.0 | New OTA Base + New Stagefright + New HTC Kernel - xda-developers
I have ROM Manager installed and Flash ClockworkMod Recovery done. I already put the fresh-evo-3.2.0.0.zip into the SD card. Tried Installing ROM from SD card, checking Backup Existing ROM and Wipe Data and Cache and it asks me to reboot into recovery. Here's the problem, it restarts and just stays on the white screen with the htc EVO 4G logo.

After this update, which came on my new replacement phone... I can't reboot like normal when trying to apply reinstall update packages with the root from OCLF. Is there some new tricky method to get it to reboot to the special reboot screen? I tried holding the home button with the volumes and power button aside from the other, volumes and side power button and no such luck it just reloads that first att logo. I also tried letting go of the volumes when its stuck in the first logo and vice versa with letting go of the power button.I guess my rants to Samsung's customer service paid off with this update. Just goes to show what a little complaining will do.

HTC Incredible :: Stuck In Reboot Loop

May 2, 2010

This afternoon, while scanning the forums. I had my Incredible charging off the AC adapter. and in airplane mode for shits and giggles. After doing some research on the ATK killers. I decided to uninstall mine and just allow the phone to manage itself. After the phone was finished with the uninstall I gave it a quick reboot just to allow the core apps to come back up. and upon doing so, I found myself in an endless reboot cycle. I would get the HTC " quietly brilliant " screen, followed by two verizon wireless screens and then loop back to the HTC screen. I let it loop about 10 times before pulling the battey to stop it.

It's rather odd. After pulling the battery and disconnecting it from the charger, I let it sit for a few minutes, replaced the battery and attempted the restart again. Once again I found myself in the same loop. After 5-6 loops i was finally brought to the OS and everything loaded as normal. Anyone have opinions on what may have caused this?

1. Uninstall of ATK
2. Rebooting while on charge
3. Airplane mode + charge + reset=boom
4. Because I touch myself at night
