View 1 Replies View RelatedMy phone was working just fine and randomly the lock button stopped working and the home button brings up the power screen!
View 1 Replies View Relateddoes anyone know if its possible or what app would be used to have the optical button work the same as the power button on the top of the phone. so if you push the button it would light the display up. or maybe its not even possible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried searching for this but couldn't find a thread that discussed it. My power button appears as though its been jammed. I dropped my phone on its corner where the power button is but I don't think thats what the problem is. Anyhow, recently my power button responds but I have to really press it hard and it as though the button is jammed cause it doesn't depress as far.
My question is that is there a way to designate the camera button to become the power button? I know on some phones you can make different buttons do different things and I was curious if this was possible on the Droid.
Is there a way to set a different button to turn the screen on to unlock the phone? An app or anywhere in settings?I hate touching the top button to turn on screen. What would be ideal is hitting a pattern on the bottom 4 buttons and then it unlock even without the swipe.Say my code is like hitting search twice then menu once then home once and the phone comes on.No swipe necessary.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn my application, if you press the power button on the phone, i am seeing: onPause onDestroy onCreate onResume onPause getting called in that order; I can't figure out why the app is getting created again and then re-paused. Obviously I am doing something incorrect, but I am not sure what. Anybody seen anything like this before?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a pattern unlock on my Samsung Galaxy S 19000. If I want to lock my screen manually I simply press the power button briefly which works fine. I now use a skin on my phone which doesn't allow for easy access to this power button so I'm wondering if there's an app that I can use to lock my phone screen without having to press the power button. I have looked at "lock 2.0", however, it seems to be more for actually unlocking the screen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to handle Android HTC device Red (power) button programatically to stop my operation. I want to stop running some of my operation when user presses REd button when user is in my screen. I know for other buttons like Back button i could use "keyCode == KeyEvent.KEYCODE_BACK" event. But what is for Power(End) Red button? I'm not getting any keycode events for Red button when i'm in my application.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am creating an Android service which constantly runs in the background. I'd like to be able to intercept calls to the power button to:
a) prevent the screen coming on
b) handle the power button press in a different manner. This is to enable the user to have a very simple interface to my application and prevent wasting battery powering up the screen when it is not required.
I will probably need an alternative mechanism to actually bring the screen back up (such as an extended key press or similar), but this only becomes relevant if what I'm after is possible.
my android phone's power button stopped working a few weeks ago. It wasn't a big problem, but a few days ago, the battery died. Now it is turned off and I can't turn it on. When I put it in charge, it just shows the charging screen. The phone is a Winmax W8000 (Winmax is Bangladeshi company. I'm from Bangladesh). It runs on Jellybean (4.1). It wasn't rooted. I tried to get into Download mode, but pressing the volume buttons and plugging in the charger doesn't work.

View 34 Replies View RelatedAnybody else power button slowly sinking? I've had the phone for 2.5 weeks and the power button feel is a lot worse then before. It's slowly falling in and flushing with the opening.Probably will take it back and swap for a new one.
View 15 Replies View RelatedNew to android programming and I would like to create an app that runs when the power button is pressed (the phone will already be 'on' as such but the screen 'off')
So - one press of the power button to 'activate/show' the screen will make the app run (without requireing the user to unlock the screen).
Is this possible. How do I capture the 'power button press' event and then direct it to run *app xxx*.
I just got my Droid but the power button seems to feel mushy clicky instead of how a button should feel with a proper click when engaging. What about you guys? Mine like mushy click feel but if I press dead center then its a near perfect less mushy click.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI could not charge the handset and it automatically powered down last night. Thereafter I restarted it again without charging it and as expected it powered down after a few minutes. This morning I plugged in the handset for charging and then pressed the power button to put the handset in to 'sleep', to my surprise it did not work. I ignored it and left it for charging and when I checked back the handset had automatically gone to 'sleep'. I tried to wake it up by pressing the power button, but it did not work. The only way I can wake up the handset is either by calling it or plugging in the charger. I tried all of the following but none of them worked.
1. Removed the battery and left the handset for a few minutes and restarted it.
2. Removed the SD card and restarted it.
3. Removed the SIM card and restarted it.
4. Removed both the SD and SIM cards and restarted it.
Found using these two apps from the market allows me to hardly ever have to use the power button (only for power off/on situations). Which is great because I know there has been reported issues of the button sinking in.
Screen Off: $0.99
No Lock: free
I'm wondering if there is another way to wake up the screen besides pushing the power button every time? Is this an Android thing? I believe my roommates Droid does the same thing. I think there are similar threads for this I just suck at searching this forum So are there any alternatives to waking up our screens on the Evo without using the power button every time?
View 49 Replies View RelatedIs it at all possible to end phone calls by pressing the power button on the top of the phone? I got used to this on my girlfriend's iPhone and like it a lot better than ending the call by pressing the screen. Is there an app for this? Or a setting?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs the days have gone by, i have started to notice that the power button on my evo might "recessed" more, because it has gotten to the point that the only way i know i press it is because the screen turns on. Reason for an exchange?
View 5 Replies View RelatedA couple of times now my wildfire wont power on via the power button. The only way to get it to work is to remove the battery and put it back in again. The battery is seated fine and the contacts are all clean and intact.Any ideas ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot one on my phone, anyone else? It's between the left side of the power button and the screen if you are looking at the screen.
View 22 Replies View RelatedI read before where someone used some old, thin rubber from some headphones to replace the foam on the power button after disassembly. Send me pictures or anything of the sort showing how to do this? I really need to fix it, and I want to do it myself, but I don't want to turn my phone into a paperweight. "how to" guide on this issue and some reassurance that everything I take off can be put right back on if not broken.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have the Galaxy S T959 and i installed Gingerbread 2.3.6 (i9000) and i got a problem with the power button .. when im in recovery i cant use it for selecting the stuff .
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy Note II. When I have it in the side pocket of my pants I sometimes reboot the damn thing by crouching down. I listen to audio books when renovating my cabin (which is going to take a month or so more), and this has happened 4-5 times today! So I'd like to disable that button all together. It just has an idiotic placement on the phone. I prefered my old HD2, that had a power button on the front that actually took a bit of pusing. This thing is pressed by looking hard at it!
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe power button no longer works to turn the phone display off when the phone display is on. It works when the phone display is off to turn the phone display on and it works when I press and hold it to display the phone options menu.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIm sending in my droid to verizon since my power button was not working and they sent me a replacement. Before I sent it in I wanted to remove root so I went into rom manager and chose a stock image to flash hoping it would do the job. Unfortunately, after I did it Superuser permission is still there. I would just use RSD Lite but since I cant get my phone to access the boot loader screen I cant get RSD Lite to recognize my phone. I was going to try to flash the older stock image from rom manager thinking maybe that would work but now when I try and flash any rom through rom manager I get this message; "an error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands". I also read that maybe quick boot would do the trick but it just force closes every time, making me think that maybe the phone isnt rooted but just has superuser permission listed(is that possible)? Is my phone still rooted?
