HTC EVO 4G :: Froyo 2.2 Update Causing Sense Slowdown

Aug 5, 2010

I recently updated through the OTA update to Froyo 2.2 on a stock EVO 4g (not rooted or messed with at all). When I finished the update,I sent a couple apps to my SD card (like Where was one, forgot the rest, maybe Flikie wallpapers). After that, the SD card was somehow permanently corrupted, I couldn't even format it on the phone or through a card reader on a PC. Anyway, then I started noticing extreme slowdowns on my phone's Sense interface (even today after putting in a new card). For example, when I try to type a text message,I put like a few letters from the person's name and it takes a good 30 seconds to show the results as opposed to instantly. Also, when a call comes in, the number shows up for a few seconds until it recognizes the contact, etc.Could it be because without a working SD card, things were put on the phone and now the phone is full (even though now I have a new card in there)? Or does anyone know why else this could be and maybe offer a solution?

HTC EVO 4G :: Endless HTC Sense Force Close Loop After Froyo Update

Aug 3, 2010

I did the offical Froyo update on my phone this afternoon. It was stock with the latest OTA update 1.47. Followed the directions for the update and it went by smoothly until after I tried setting up my phone (Google account). I did a hard reset and everything was fine until a few minutes ago. I was able to sign into my Google, Facebook and Aim accounts. It is now back to an endless loop of trying to load Sense and force closing. Of course I can do another hard rest but is it too early to assume the force close loop problem will return? My phone is not functioning and I cannot even go into the setting to turn of Sense.

HTC Desire :: Stuck In Sense Force Close Loop After O2 Froyo Update

Sep 29, 2010

Just did the OTA froyo update from O2 last night. All appeared to go well and successful, past the point where I heard other people's got stuck. But when I slide down the slider and put in my password, it gets stuck in a force close loop for com.htc.launcher. Seems to not be able to open sense and keeps looping round.I saw a post from someone saying they had that problem, but then they just hit the search button and got the quicksearch, went to settings, then cleared the data for the appropriate application and then it worked fine. But when I hit the search button, nothing happens. If I hold it down, I get the google voice search, but I can't seem to get to settings from there.Does anyone know another method to get into settings as I'm hopeful this will fix my problem as suggested by some others. I'd much rather that than take it back to O2.

HTC Incredible :: Froyo 2.2 Causing Reboot Cycles

Sep 5, 2010

I never really had an issue of reboots until recently, before I actually updated to froyo (week and a half or so) I started getting some random reboots.

Now I have been having some major problems, I am not sure if it is related to froyo or not, but i suddenly am getting a lot of more reboots, and when it does it will sometimes get stuck in a cycle of reboots and just keep going and going. Tonight it literally just kept rebooting over 10 times. I battery pulled multiple times and still was doing the same thing. Is there a reason this could be happening?

Yes I have done factory reset since install of 2.2, and actually right when i installed and did factory reset it got stuck in this cycle.

I have talked to verzion and they could not make it reboot so they said they could not do anything at the moment but put a note on the account.

Android :: Nexus One Update Is Causing Problems

Feb 6, 2010

I recently got the Nexus One Update which provides amongst other things - pinch gestures.

One other unlucky surprise I got is that the app I am writing behaves differently. When I call finish() my activity's onDestroy() should be getting called. On 1.5, 1.6, 2.0 and 2.1 (before the nexus update) this works fine, but on 2.1 with the Nexus One it just doesn't call onDestroy. I have a button on one of the activity pages that when you click it, it is supposed to "finish" the activity and I verified it's calling finish(), but onDestroy() never gets called.

HTC Incredible :: Can't Use Launcher Pro Plus / Sense Froyo

Aug 11, 2010

First Impressions of Android 2.2 for the DROID Incredible | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog That article stated that you if you cleared the defaults for the home button in Sense Froyo, that it wouldnt let you select a different launcher (widget locker, launcher pro etc). Does this mean I can't use launcher pro on sense froyo? If not, does someone know of a stable ROM they're using that does allow this? I just rooted my phone today for the first time, and am getting the Froyo itch.

Sep 19, 2010

I installed 2.2 the ligit way, searched for updates and asked if I wanted to download 2.2 so I did. Now HTC Sense will not even start when I switch on the phone. The phone starts and then says "loading..." and while it's loading it shows that lovely application error, normally you just click "force close" but application that's breaking is actually HTC Sense and the "force close" button is grayed out, then the phone restarts with the white screen and green HTC logo and then gets to the "loading..." part and then HTC Sense breaks again and the phone is stuck in an infinite loop.

HTC Desire :: Rooted And Flashed Froyo W-Sense

Jul 25, 2010

Yesterday, I finally decided to root my phone and flash an android 2.2 'with Sense' ROM. I followed this guide: How To: Install Froyo On An HTC Desire | I Can Has Pi?

I used the 2.2 Sense ROM recommended by the guide. Everything was going really well, but once the proses was over I saw some things that instantly made me wish I had never bothered rooting:

-I have a VERY low internal memory; no room for half my backed-up apps, no room for SMS, no room to take a low resolution photo(let alone 720p video!), and not even room to browse my photos or music(I know-weird...)!

-Some apps (like the HTC MOD keyboard with voice input) simply don't work.

-Slow boot and load HTC Sense.

-Programs force-close very often, as dose HTC Sense.

There are some good things in this ROM (like a slight increase in performance) but really, the bad outweighs the good- especially with the low storage, considering that the main reason I rooted was to get more space for apps!

I don't know what to do now. Is there a solution within the ROM I'm using at the moment? Or did I just use a crappy ROM. Which can you recommend (Froyo w/Sense)? Unrooting seems quite easy, or is that dumb now that I've gone through the trouble of rooting? I can't be without receiving SMS for much longer!

HTC EVO 4G :: Any Sense ROMs With Vanilla Froyo Dialer?

Aug 30, 2010

I would like to try the Fresh Rom because of 4g and I hear it has excellent battery life. However, HTC (in their infinite wisdom) has decided that we really don't need a way to toggle bluetooth on or off during a call and has removed that button from their dialer. Bluetooth, what's that? A bluetooth toggle to be used during a call? No one would need that, let's code it out on purpose! Ok, enough ranting. Is there a way to get the vanilla froyo dialer on a Fresh (sense-based) ROM?

HTC EVO 4G :: Froyo 2.2 Vanilla Android With Sense Widgets

Jun 22, 2010

I am a huge fan of the Fresh builds by Flipz over at Geek For Me - Sprint Evo 4g & CDMA Hero. I have a proposal for a new build (once able, of course) and wanted your guys opinions. I think most of us agree the best part of HTC's 'sense' is the widgets. HTC designed the Sense UI back in Android 1.5 days and it's a bit dated. The Froyo version of the Picture Gallery, Music Player, Dialer, App Drawer and Lock Screen are far superior to the Sense iterations. I think this would be the best build on the EVO: I'm talkin' the actual Froyo build here, not something that 'looks like' Froyo, not the HTC build with Sense disabled (still keeps the HTC Music, Gallery, Dialer, Lock screen etc.). I'm talkin' the full whammy, 'extra pickles' awesomeness. Code...

Android :: Touch Screen Slowdown

I am having a problem with the touch screen in that whenever the screen is touched, it causes significant slowdown because of the large number of callbacks that are being made. HTC Incredible :: Screen Unresponsive Or OS Slowdown?

Nov 18, 2010

It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens 7-10 times a day.Basically I can be using the keyboard or even in an App (like say angry birds) and the screen becomes unresponsive. The speed and responsiveness is comparable to trying to do anything on a 486 PC with a virus scan running.I type a letter and five seconds later it shows up.Interestingly, if I hit the sleep button, and then wake the phone back up it's completely fixed.I'm not saying I'm unique in this, I'm just saying I haven't figured out the correct search terms.I have a HTC Incredible, with the updated 2.2, vanilla.I highly doubt it is an App but here is my list just in case.

I have a simple, classic, statement that every 200 milliseconds plays a sound (a metronome). I wrote it using Handlers, and then in another way, using Threads. The problem is the same in both ways: when I press hardware home button, or also simply when I press a button to open a ListView, the metronome terribly slowdown for a while. This problem (not so strong, but however present) presents also doing nothing and leaving the application in foreground. Any ideas?

General :: HTC One M8 / Nexus 7 - Slowdown On WiFi Across All Android Devices?

Apr 15, 2014

My main device is an HTC One M8, but I also have a Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 7 2012, Galaxy Nexus, and a Moto X running on the same Wi-Fi network. They are all experiencing some slow activity on Wi-Fi. I also have 2 desktop PCs and a Laptop running on the same network and they are running fine, no noticeable lag.

On all of my Android devices, browsing the web via Chrome is almost as snappy (but still not the speeds I get on data) as it is on my computers. However when it comes to certain apps, there is a noticeable slowdown. Instagram has a lot of trouble loading images, Facebook, Twitter, Play Store downloads are stupid slow as well. And a bunch of push notifications from those apps, as well as GMail, won't come through or will come through hours after they should have.

But if I just switch Wi-Fi off on the devices that also have a data plan running (Moto X, One M8, GNex) everything comes through as fast as expected.

Could it be my router? I have a Linksys E800.

General :: Samsung Galaxy Express Games Slowdown

Nov 30, 2013

I have a Samsung Galaxy Express, which is basically a gimped SIII and ran into some weird slowdown issues. I first noticed with Fast & Furious 6. When I first installed it, it ran smooth. After a few weeks, the game became so choppy it was close to unplayable. I just thought it was a fluke, maybe one of the updates didn't like my phone.

So, after this and other random issues, I did a factory reset. After that I downloaded Injustice, very happy it was finally added for android. Same thing, at first it ran great but after a week or two it started to become choppy. I have cleared all my caches, cleared my ram right before playing by using an app All-in-One Toolbox and I have 2.3 Gigs free space out of 5 Gigs.

The phone runs on Jelly Bean(I think, whatever is 4.1.2) and the model number is SGH-I437. I know there are at least two different Samsung Galaxy Express model numbers so that is why I added that info.

Android :: Is Bad MotionEvent/Touch Slowdown Stuff Actually Fixed On First-gen 2.1 Updates

Apr 18, 2010

I'd really like to know what the state of that fix is as 2.1 is rolled out onto first generation (MSM7200-based) devices. As it stands, I don't see much of a problem with touch eating up CPU on the Droid and N1 but those are much faster phones so I don't think it would be quite as pronounced on them. My current 1.6 devices (G1 and Tattoo) cut my framerates in half during any touch (with the sleep hack, even). I optimized my new games so that they would run well-enough (25-40fps) on that hardware but they have very touch-centric interfaces so won't work well with that bug. I talked to a few people who run 2.0/2.1 mods on their G1s and they said the problem isn't any better. They still see the big slowdown. I tested on my 1.6 emulator vs a 2.1 emulator and there is a huge improvement. The 1.6 emulator slows down just like my G1 does and the 2.1 emulator shows only a tiny bit of slowdown, which is what I was hoping for. That's encouraging, but I have yet to see a real 2.1 MSM7200 update in the field so I don't know what to think yet.
