HTC EVO 4G : Deleted App Keeps On Reappearing After Restart / Way To Fix
Jun 9, 2010
I rooted using unrevoked and used root explorer to delete the app in /system/app/ directory. I get a message saying the app is deleted and I see it disappeared. When I exit out from root explorer, go to list of apps, I still see the icon of the app in the list and can still open it. Then when I restart the phone and go back to /system/app/ directory, I see the app back again. Anybody knows why this is happening? The apps seem to be cached somewhere. I've read that system app cannot be deleted using the unrevoked root method, but there are other people who say it does. Using root explorer seems to delete the app, but reappears again. I'm really clueless on this one.

The emails I delete from my hotmail account on my evo keep reappearing. They will either all pop back up as new unread mail later on or sometimes right after I delete them when I reload the page they start popping back up.

I have a generic android tablet from china (irulu 10.1 inch ax105 4.2.2) thats rooted via shuame and lets me delete apps only with titanium backup but they keep reappearing half an hour later or when the device is rebooted. when i try to delete with any other root app including es explorer it says the system is read only
im assuming the kernel doesnt allow the system to be modified from what ive found on similar threads so i need to flash a security disabled one, the problem is this tablet is obscure so theres literally no custom roms or custom kernels.
normally id just leave it and disable the apps but the problem is the tablet is running a phone os with both system telephone apps constantly draining the battery quickly on cell standby when its a wifi tablet (able to use a 3g dongle though), using airplane mode with those apps frozen still drains the battery really fast but the 30mins or so the apps are deleted with titanium backup the tablet only loses 1-2% instead of 10-20% in 30mins which is dreadful as its has a 6000mah battery
kernel version 3.4.39+
inet_paco@superFAE #3
android version 4.2.2
firmware version: 2.1_20130903

So here is whats going on. I downloaded Album Art Grabber from the market, and ran it, found all of my missing album art fine. It puts all the pictures into a folder called Albumthumbs. Now every time I restart my phone, the folder is still there but all of the art is gone. I have to run the app again which uses a lot of battery. One thing I've done, is make a back up of all the pictures, but after restart, I have to copy them from back up, to album thumbs.

I am developing a ToDo reminder type of app for android. on creation of a new reminder an alarm and vibrator scheduler is created with a toast. This works on intents and broadcasts and is pretty straight forward stuff with putextras using the reminder id from the db. My problem is, if some one restart the phone, i guess all the scheduled alarm and vibrator tasks for the reminder will be killed. Once the phone restart again how to recreate the scheduler tasks.

I'm an experienced developer although completely new to mobile development. I am trying to write an app which periodically sends an SMS message.
I do this by with my activity instatiating an AlarmManager when a button is clicked. The AlarmManager starts a service which sends the SMS.
All is fine except that when the SMS is transmitted the activity UI is brought to focus again regardless of what is running. I do not wish this to happen. Ultimately my UI will be a configuration of how the service will behave although I have not looked into the data interface between activity and service yet.

I'm using Tasker to kill some apps. One of the apps has a persistent notification icon and it refuses to be killed (even with root). The notification icon is gone for a second but will always come right back. Using street I tried to find out if there was a watchdog process keeping the app alive, but I found none. Also it is not hooked to any events according to Auto-run manager. A force close under "app management" always works.

Got my HTC desire couple of weeks ago and have had this problem since. Everytime I turn on my phone I get a new blank from anonymous that sits on my SD card; I know its on my SD card because there's a logo of an SD card on the text bubble. Even if I delete it, it will reappear. Even if I try black list it will reappear. The date of the text message used to be consistently the same as well as the same time until today. Where are texts held on the sd card?

Asking a question for my father in law who is having problems with his EVO (I have an EVO but can't replicate this problem to help).
During the past week, the EVO with the problem was not downloading MMS messages onto the phone. The download process would start but would result in an error that said something like "generic network failure." We thought it was a temporary network connection issue. This started with the stock "Messaging" app installed on the EVO.
What then happened is VERY ODD. All of a sudden literally HUNDREDS of old previously deleted messages dating back to June of this year (yes, it is now NOVEMBER) were being downloaded and loaded into the messaging app. This happened not only with the thread that could not receive the recent MMS message but essentially ALL THREADS from whomever might have contacted my father in law since June! This happened once, we totally cleared out the messaging app threads and even deleted the cache information and data through the Manage Applications options on the phone and, once again, receipt of a few current messages would again trigger this FLOOD of text message data from MONTHS ago!!
Has anyone heard of this problem? It seems to me to be related to the Sprint Network because there should be no remnants of any of the old text messages once deleted from the phone itself. We went to a local Sprint store this morning and even did a hard reset BUT upon testing the text apps again, the problem recurred!
This problem occurred first with the stock Messaging app and, thinking that the Messaging app was the problem, we installed ChompSMS with the hope of fixing the issue but the problem occurred with Chomp as well.
Again, I am posting this for my father in law's EVO...I have an EVO too, running ChompSMS with NO PROBLEMS...matter of fact I have NEVER heard of or seen this issue with many-month-old text REAPPEARING on the phone. Any suggestions or thoughts?

I was showing off my droid the other day and attempted to wow the audience by keying the scratch proof screen.Note that I do not have any screen protection yet. They were wowed allright but the next day I noticed very very faint scratches on my screen.I gave the screen a good rub with my shirt and they disappeared along with the smudges and dust so i didnt think anything of it.I just checked again a few min ago and I saw those same scratches imprinted in the dust and smudges that had gotten on the screen.I again gave it a good rub and they dissappeared but I'm starting to wonder how the heck is this even happening?

I used to use two Gmail accounts and had both sync the information, with exception to one's contact list since it was empty. However, I've noticed that my contacts, after awhile, disappear from my phone.
At first, they had disappeared from my Google Contacts as well, but a simple restore fixed that and now they are still there (this was around the time Google started to move info to Google+). Now, the contacts disappear from my phone, leaving me with it saying "No contacts", until I reboot my phone again (where it all loads back in again).
I use WhatsApp, ChatOn, Skype, Google+, and Facebook apps.

I followed the guide at [URL] to install CWM on my Xolo Q800. The process went well and I was shown the Green circle and it said "OK." The first time I boot my phone into recovery I was shown CWM. I rebooted my phone and to my surprise, it won't enter CWM. Instead I was shown the Stock Recovery.
How to fix this?

I really hate the stock messaging app on the bottom of my Galaxy s2. I like using gosms cause i can lock it and keep it private. But the messages are showing up still in the messaging app, ( i thought i enabled only gosms) and of course, when i delete them, they get deleted in gosms too

I can't remember how to do a restart. It involves holding down two or three keys simultaneously, but what keys are they?Apparently I have had this Eris longer than the span of my short-term memory. I know that I once knew how to do it.

I've been having some reception issues that seem be cleared up when i restart the handset. What I'd love is to be able to schedule a daily restart around 4am to prevent any problems from the phone running too long. Does anyone know of an app that could do this for me?

On my Incredible running 2.2 (OTA) w/ Launcher Pro+ While using the navigation.1 of 2 things happens.
1) After using the GPS for a while (any where from 15 - about 45mins) The phone just restarts out of no where, doesn't matter if I am holding it or not. It can be the first app I turn on, with no other apps running. And some times this restart goes into to a "looping" restart. It'll just keep poping up the white htc incredible screen, then go into the new red droid eye boot animation, go blank and then go into the white boot screen again. Until I do a battery pull it won't stop.
2) The navigation will be working all fine and then out of no where just exits, without the phone even being touched. Then I'll have to open up the navi. app again and select the most recent destination.I have never rooted the phone, and I am on the OTA 2.2 update.Just wondering if any one else has a had this problem or similar?I'm going to be doing a factory reset probably tomorrow.just a quick checklist Use app brain to save all apps that were previously on the phone Make sure all images are on the SD card All contacts saved to google account Launcher Plus homescreens saved to SD I guess thats about all the backing-up thats needed?

Is it possible to programmatically restart the phone from a application (service) running on top of the Dalvik VM?If the SDK does not provide this functionality, then how about using the NDK and calling some functions provided by the kernel? I know this option is not preferred (not stable enough libs), but if it's the only option, I'll have to consider that as well.

I'm building a game which works as some type of a quiz. I ask user the question and when he submits the answer(click or touch correct answer) I need to refresh the page with some other question.
How should i implement this? How to wait for users answer and continue when onClick or OnTouch listener finishes?
Should i use Handler class, intents or something else?
I want next scenario:
On the screen I have a question and 3-4 clickable ImageButtons. I'm building some of the layout dinamically from custom showQA() function. User choose the answer and if he clicked the correct answer i should start some type of animation on the screen. I've done that from the onClickListener. Now, i need to build layout again(show new question and answers) from the showQA() function which must be called after that animation showed to the user. How can i know when the onClickListener() finished its work?

This issue is actually my friends droid, but he has 0 internet without his droid and now it's broken. His droid not rooted, not dropped, never wet, no damage, etc -- will only power on after being plugged into a wall outlet. After being plugged in, it automatically starts up, gets to the motorola icon and sometimes the eye, and then reboots. Two things to note:While booting, the led flashes red, indicating a bad battery. However, on occasion, it will reach the unlock screen for mere seconds stating that the battery is at 60%.I can access recovery and do everything there normally without a restart. The only solution I can think of is a factory hard reset.

I've just plugged it in every night to charge the battery. Is there any need to shutdown and restart the Incredible on a regular basis like you would for a computer? Just wondering if this would clear caches, speed it up, etc.
