Any way to change the android dude standing there while you are on the phone? I searched...but didn't find anything. If you have changed it, what are you using as a background there?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was surprised that I really couldn't find much on this, but I can't be the only one with the problem. My Droid Eris is sending blank text messages repeatedly. Is the phone faulty or is there some setting that I can change. I downloaded ChompSMS hoping that would fix it, but it doesn't appear to. When I open my text messaging program, many times it will send a blank text to the last person I texted. The other day, I turned the phone off and turned it back on and it sent a blank text at the exact time I turned it on.

Looked the api and there is a content provider named ACTION_APN_SETTINGS developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/Settings.html#ACTION_APN_SETTINGS but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to use it. Is there any example or something that does not involve the "contacts" content provider?

I have a program I used on my Hero (Android 1.5) that worked great.. All it did, was the following:
Settings.System.putString(getContentResolver(), Settings.System.DATE_FORMAT, "dd.MM.yyyy");
This does not work on my Nexus One, why? If I call Settings.System.getString(getContentResolver(), Settings.System.DATE_FORMAT); it tells me that the format is "dd.MM.yyyy" but none of the programs displays the date format like that...
What am I missing? Is this not possible with Android 2.1? Or is there a different way?
But windows phone keyboard has this great feature, after writing your text or message. You can then go back through the whole message just tapping on misspelt words once and it will highlight the whole word and give you suggestions that you can pick from.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I use adb to perform some automated tasks on my android phone? I need to find commands that I can issue from the command line (ideally, using a .bat file) that will be capable of more than simply opening an application or sending an input keyevent (button press).
For instance, I want to toggle Airplane Mode on or off from the command line. Currently, the best I can do is launch the Wireless & network settings menu and then use input keyevents to click Airplane mode:

There are quite a few drawbacks to this method, primarily that the screen has to be on and unlocked. Also, the tasks I want to do are much broader than this simple example. Other things I'd like to do if possible:
1.Play an mp3 and set it on repeat. Current solution:

2.Play a video. (current solution: open MediaGallery, send keyevents, similar to above)
3.Change the volume (current solution: send volume-up button keyevents)
4.Change the display timeout (current solution: open sound & display settings, send keyevents)
As before, these all require the screen to be on and unlocked. The other major drawback to using keyevents is if the UI of the application is changed, the keyevents will no longer perform the correct function. If there is no easier way to do these sort of things, is there at least a way to turn the screen on (using adb) when it is off? Or to have keyevents still work when the screen is off?
I'm not very familiar with java. That said, I've seen code like the following (source: http://yenliangl.blogspot.com/2009/12/toggle-airplane-mode.html) to change a setting on the phone:

How do I translate something like the above into an adb shell command? Is this possible, or the wrong way to think about it?
I found if change screen orientation continouously when a call is ongoing, that is, portrait -> landscape -> portrait- >landscape.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a notification that starts my activity and passes a messages using the intent's putExtra() function. The message is then displayed to the user in the activity's onCreate function. When the application is restarted due to a orientation change, the message is shown again as it is still in the intent's bundled data.
How can I remove the extra data?
I tried the following:
Bundle bundle = getIntent().getExtras();
if (bundle.getBoolean("showMessage")) {
// ... show message that is in bundle.getString("message")
// remove message
bundle.remove("showMessage");
}
But the message will still be shown after the orientation changed, seems like the intent used is not the one I changed, but the original one. The only workaround I found is to save the showMessage additionally in onSaveInstanceState(). Is there another way? Or is this the way to go?
How do I change the icons on my HTC Evo? When I look at screenshots of HTC Sense I see that the icons look nicer. They have a more cartoonish look then the ones I have on my Evo.
