From BB to Droid I see there is huge difference on emails. Last night I was working with K-9 email.
I have 3 emails: Gmail working OK. Yahoo working OK (using K-9) and there is work account. I can receive emails OK but cannot send any out. Because I cannot use work SMTP server I went and enter my smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com port 587 require sign in. There are lots of errors: from push error: null / relay access denied / imap server is not idle capable... Can I have same SMTP under two accounts?
I'd like to get access to the data stored in the default Email app. I'd like to find out what accounts are associated with the App, and for each account, what folders are associated with the account, and for each folder how many emails are in that folder. I need this information on 2.1 and 1.5. I see the AccountManager in 2.1 can give me some of the accounts configured, but in the Email app you can also add accounts which don't show up in the AccountManager. How do you get access to the accounts configured in the Email app. I'd like to be able to programmatically deleted emails in the users folders. Are the emails stored in a content Provider? If so whats the URI.

I will be buying the N1 on big red when it comes out (let's hope the March 23rd rumor is true). I know that you can access multiple G Mail accounts through the phone but does anyone know if you can have a G Mail and another account. I am a medical student and get important minute-to-minute emails about things for the hospital. The account I have through the school uses OWA and the school has dropped its ability to automatically forward emails to other accounts. Also, as much as I have tried, I can not get my GM ail account to import/retrieve emails from the OWA account. So I am hoping to have the .edu account and the G Mail account simultaneously. Any help would be provided from anyone currently using N1 on TMo. Even if you could test it by trying to set up another email with another POP 3 email server.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if anyone else has had their email accounts disappear? This has happened 3 times now. The first time was a few weeks ago after having the same accounts for months. The next time was a couple of weeks ago and then it happened again today. I checked my emails when I got to work, and then while I was sitting in a meeting, I picked up my phone to peek at emails and all 3 accounts were gone along with my corporate calendar account. I re-entered the accounts and it loads everything, but this is kind of annoying.

They had me type in some random string of numbers to the phone dial pad and it took me to a screen where I set my phone's ID and other stuff manually (that the activation call would do automatically). View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I use adb to perform some automated tasks on my android phone? I need to find commands that I can issue from the command line (ideally, using a .bat file) that will be capable of more than simply opening an application or sending an input keyevent (button press).
For instance, I want to toggle Airplane Mode on or off from the command line. Currently, the best I can do is launch the Wireless & network settings menu and then use input keyevents to click Airplane mode:

There are quite a few drawbacks to this method, primarily that the screen has to be on and unlocked. Also, the tasks I want to do are much broader than this simple example. Other things I'd like to do if possible:
1.Play an mp3 and set it on repeat. Current solution:

2.Play a video. (current solution: open MediaGallery, send keyevents, similar to above)
3.Change the volume (current solution: send volume-up button keyevents)
4.Change the display timeout (current solution: open sound & display settings, send keyevents)
As before, these all require the screen to be on and unlocked. The other major drawback to using keyevents is if the UI of the application is changed, the keyevents will no longer perform the correct function. If there is no easier way to do these sort of things, is there at least a way to turn the screen on (using adb) when it is off? Or to have keyevents still work when the screen is off?
I'm not very familiar with java. That said, I've seen code like the following (source: http://yenliangl.blogspot.com/2009/12/toggle-airplane-mode.html) to change a setting on the phone:

How do I translate something like the above into an adb shell command? Is this possible, or the wrong way to think about it?

1) If I setup the phone to access my email accounts what types of vunerabilities am I opening myself to?
2) If I lost my phone (or it was stolen) could someone read my passwords ... how are passwords stored on the phone?

I tried "MyBackup" from the market and it backed up my Sensation quite nicely, but it doesn't restore the accounts and setting up everything again was difficult.

I want to know if there is a way to change the phone number in Settings> About Phone > Status. It's strange - I've only had the phone a few days, got one at the same time as my wife. For some reason the Phone number according to my device is my wife's number although it definitely has my SIM card in the slot and is functioning with the right number. Whereas my wife's device reads unknown in this field. How can I change it to my number?

I am a current BB user and am very interested in moving over to the Droid, but have concerns about getting my corporate Outlook email. We do not support Activesync; we have 3 methods for mobile access:
BEZ server for BB (not applicable with Droid)
GoodLink - I have not found that GoodLink is supported on the Droid?
VPN - this is how our iPhone users currently access email.

Is GoodLink supported on the Droid?

2. The non-GMail e-mail works mostly OK for some time (a day or two, an hour or two, etc.); (I do get connection errors, I can't completely delete POP3 email, there's no POP3 auto-checking nor notifications, etc.--for now these annoyances are manageable.),
3. At some point in the future, I go into the app to check mail, and POOF! Everythin' B gone. I'm greeted with the setup screen, as though I had not created the account(s) previously,
4. I recreate the account(s),
